Got my BFP this morning (VERY VERY faint line, but a line is a line)

1st DS I was induced @39 weeks because of severe PIH and ended in a csection for failure to progress. i feel that i won't be able to birth at home b/c i am still overweight from 1st pregnancy and i just don't think i can do it. so it will be back to the hospital for me. My OB just got a midwife, so that should be ok. do you think she would let me VBAC given my history?

I absolutely think that your VBAC and even HBAC chances are very good! Many here have done it successfully. I am sure they will be along to tell you more. I had PIH with my first two pregnancies, but my second was much less severe which is common (fortunately vag deliveries both times). Many that have it with first pregnancy don't have it at all with other pregnancies. Every preg is different. I have not homebirthed, but I assume that homebirth midwives have a back up hospital just in case one is needed. There would be no harm in meeting with a homebirth midwife to talk this out. Usually they offer a free consult. If you choose to hospital birth, make sure you have a provider (hopefully a midwife) that is pro VBAC. From what you have described, there is no reason not to try for a VBAC. I would in your position.

if there is an ICAN (Int'l Cesarean Awareness Network- www.ican-online.org) group near you, they would be a fabulous resource for locating truly VBAC supportive care providers in your area. make sure you do your homework! read everything you can get your hands on about VBAC and fully explore your options. i would also encourage you to at least speak with a homebirth midwife and see what she says about your history and your potential to birth at home. i wouldn't eliminate that option for yourself unless a homebirth midwife tells you that you truly do risk out. good luck and good for you for pursuing your VBAC options!
