I see you posted quite some time ago but I've been looking for threads about the HUmboldt area-Eureka/Arcata- and this came up. My dh and I and our 3 kids are seriously considering moving up there-how do you like it??? I'm a little discouraged by the apparent lack of Mothering moms responding. I was up there about 12 years ago and remember liking the area but that was before marriage and kids and stuff. Is the cost of living still decent? Have you found many like-minded families and/or do you feel like it is a good place to raise kids?
Any opinions or suggestions you could offer would be great! We will probably be up around Memorial Day to check it out.

I went to school at Humboldt State, and moved away after I graduated. Now that we have dd, dh and I are really missin' the great community over there. It would be such a great place to raise kids. We still go over to visit family, and for cool stuff like to Oyster Festival (but it got cancelled this year while we were there :irked: ) and we are planning to take dd to her first North Country Fair this year. Does anyone know the exact dates for the Fair? Anyway, maybe we'll be movin that way someday soon.
