I was reading in a brochure that PPD can show up after weaning the baby. DD was weaned very mutually two weeks before she turned a year old. Infact I was more interested in feeding her by that time than she was interested in breastfeeding. Anyway it wasn't long after that I became majorly depressed. I asked a few friends if it could be post partum depression and they said no way it was way to late for that. I am very susceptible to depession anyway but after having her I was on top of the world for the first year.

After being a great mom for the first year. I've almost been non existant in her life for the last two years. Partially because dh took her to his mom's house on a regular basis for the second year of her life while I was depressed. Then we moved away from his parents and he's been doing more of the care than me. Do you think it is possible that this was PPD?

I'm pregnant and due in a month and now i'm a little scared.

First off...yes; any major hormonal shift can cause depression.

But, no matter what type of depression it is; I would highly recommend seeing a psychiatrist about this now. In my experience; unresolved depression will only get worse! Your OB can refer you. Please emphasize how serious this is.

Have you ever seen this:

MILLS DEPRESSION & ANXIETY SYMPTOM - FEELING CHECKLIST

It can give you (and a therapist) an idea of what is going on. Your life does not have to be like this! Please do keep us updated on how you doing. :Hug

I second the hormonal changes. In my case, ds2 just stopped bf (at 23 mos) and I feel MUCH better after having had PPD for most of his life. I was improving before tho.

See someone. A lot can be done for depression now.

Many :hug s to you
