View Full Version : Intuition about baby's sex

Ok, so I've heard about women having really strong intuition about the baby's sex. Witht he first one--miscarriage--I was hoping for a girl and always thought that a girl first would be better, but never was able to find out what it was. This time I'm so sure it's a boy it's not even funny. I dream aobut nothing but baby boys, and I keep finidng myself using male pronouns to describe the baby and even using the boy's name we have picked out.

Dh saw an outfit he really liked at the store today (it had a penguin on it. Dh is penguin freak) and grabbed the blue one and tossed it in the cart! I sent him back to switch it for a bigger size, pointing out that a 3-6 month winter garment is not a great plan for a May baby, but thought it was kind of funny he picked the blue one without thinking twice.

I wonder what everyone elses' experiences are with this sort of thing.

BTW, we heard a heartbeat yesterday! Were trying to avoid U/S but decided to do a quick doppler just to alleviate miscarriage anxiety. It was so cool!

Yay about the heartbeat! It is definitely so reassuring to hear it.

I just can't trust my intuition with regards to baby's sex. I've told this before, but I was just sooo sure my first was going to be a girl. I was even calling "her" a girl name in my head. Then we had the ultrasound and boom there was the penis clear as day!! So much for that.

This time, I'm also feeling like its a girl, but I'm prepared for another boy. I don't think I'll be too disappointed, although I do love buying the girly clothes and toys! But ds likes a lot of girly things too, so at least there's that. :lol I do have a great boy name picked out that I'm excited about, so that'll help. I would like to have a girl though because this will most likely be our last bio child. I just do not want to go through another pregnancy. DH does not want any more children period so adoption may be out too, but you never know what may change in the future. He said he didn't want any more after ds, and he changed his mind about that. He wants the baby to be a boy and is sure it will be because he wants ds to have a brother. He really values his relationship with his brother, which I completely understand, but he seems to forget that they fought like cats and dogs until they were both college age!

Ooh, were you at gymboree? I saw a penguin outfit there and I was tempted to buy it even though I have no idea what I'm having yet. I thought the blue wasn't too masculine, but it was definitely better suited to a boy.

Back on topic- With ds I had a very faint feeling he was a boy, but mostly when people would ask I would shrug. I did not feel strongly at all. With this one, I feel the same way, except I have a faint feeling it's a girl. I'm not sure if this is just because I had a slight preference for a boy first, as I have a slight preference for a girl now. It's really funny, because honestly I don't care. But, if I could have a say, that's what I would have wanted. So, I wonder if my faint feelings are just manifestations of my very slight preferences.

Boy :lol And I just have a really strong feeling about that. :lol With both girls, I thought they were boys, but mainly because I wanted girls sooooo bad that I convinced myself they were boys so I couldn't be disappointed. :lol This time I really don't care what it is, but I had a boy dream awhile back, and with the other 2 I only had girl dreams, who knows?? :love

I am butting in from the April ddc because there hasn't been a thread like this over there :lol

It's weird, with dd I truly had no feeling one way or the other. I was desperate to have a girl (as if I had any control!), and I got lucky. :love

This time (#2 for us), I would love to give dd a sister. But throughout my first trimester I kept getting boy vibes. Holding up an u/s pic of #2 to one of dd's u/s pics and saying "They even look like brother and sister!" No idea where that came from....and I never have correct intuitive feelings, so I don't know where to stash all this "info."

The weirdest part is that according to the old wives tales, I should be having another girl (awful acne, craving sweets, fetal heartrates over 140). Oh well. Just another 2 weeks until we try to catch a peek.

My intuition says boy, but last time it said girl and I had a boy. :D We'll see.

I think it's a boy. Don't know why - just feels like a boy.

I'm thinking boy, perhaps just because I have a very slight preference for a girl and as such am balancing it out in my mind. My husband won't even guess. :irked:

I have no faith whatsoever in my intuition since I and everyone else except my dad was sure DS was a girl right up until we checked when he was lying wrapped in a blanket on my chest.

However, I feel a little bit like this baby is a girl. I think because I feel less sick than last time, and less aware of the baby as separate, that feels like maybe the baby is more "like" me, and therefore a girl.

Um, that's except when I have dreams about a boy baby (a couple nights ago) or boy-girl twins (about two months ago.)

Who knows? And I won't be having an u/s, either, unless something is wrong, so we won't know until the crucial moment again in all likelyhood - which is fine with me.

Yeah, for some reason I'm good at knowing what mine are but I can never guess other people's :p

I knew my first was a boy. I thought my second was a girl but kept doubting myself because I sorta wanted a girl so I thought I was just swaying my intuition. I knew if we had a third, he would be a he. I knew this months before I got pg. He's a boy. I then thought if we had another it would be a girl...we don't know, but I'm really thinking girl.

Isn't it funny how that works?! I'll be mighty surprised if this is a boy now :wink

I *knew* about 2 years before dd was born that my first child would be a girl. after she was born, i *knew* my second would be a boy. when i got pregnant, i was totally and completely convinced it was in fact a boy. but then a few weeks ago, i had a very vivid dream that the baby was a very obvious girl. ....there are a few other things that have confused my intuition over the last few weeks, but i guess i'm saying i don't have a real strong feeling anymore. i would still venture boy, but not as positively as a few weeks ago.

i actually really don't care what the baby is...i would love to ahve a boy, so i can experience both sexes...however, i never had a sister, and i think it would be wonderful for dd to have a sister. so i'd be happy with either. we are going to find out...neither dh or i want to wait...besides i've got shopping to do :lol

My DH and I BOTH had girl dreams before I even knew I was pregnant (the day my period was due). We both woke up smiling, and it felt like an intuition. I don't THINK I am finding out, so I have a ways to wait!! arrrghghghg!

Anyway, after I spent a day looking at both boy and girl names, I had a boy dream. So go figure. I'll let ya know in MAY!

after all of me and DP's girl dreams...looks like we're having a boy.

Thought we saw a penis on ultrasound today (13.5 weeks) although there is a slight chance that it was the cord.

Aackk. THREE BOYS!!!! My poor daughter!

I was absolutely, 100% sure that Emily was a girl, and she was. I have the exact same feeling with this one, but I'm trying not to convince myself either way. I truthfully don't care which it is.

I'm not sure, maybe I'll have a stronger feeling as time goes on. With our first, I was SURE she was a boy because the men in dh's family only put out a girl like once a generation. You can imagine our surprise when we were talking about "he" and the u/s tech said "Since you want to know, it's a she, not a he!". :dropjaw

With ds, I was SURE that he was a boy because the pregnancy felt so different and that was confirmed at the 19 week u/s.

This time we're not having an u/s and I don't have a strong feeling either way so far. One day I think boy, another day I think girl. This pg has been very different from my first two and in some ways I'm feeling disconnected for some reason. A friend mentioned twins because this pregnancy is so different from my first two :scared- mostly because I've had much more m/s than I did the first two times.

HA! Intuition... I wouldn't trust my so-called intuition if my life depended on it right now. I can barely create a coherent thought, much less interpret my "gut" feelings. I usually dream "girl", but I know it is because I had one sister, three nieces, 3 girl cousins... Girls are all I know. If it's a boy I'll be totally lost, but blissfully excited.

well, everyone thinks I am crazy but I just KNOW it is a boy!!

I have been preggers with both (look at my sig) and this one is just like my boys pregnancy! My girl was just soo different. My boys were different from each other, but then when you compare it to my girls there is just NO comparison! I cant even bring myself to say it is a girl. I am 100% SURE it is a boy!!
I am sure I will find out. I have to deliver with and OB (no midwives in this area) and they seem to like more testing. I will keep her at bay as much as I can but it might be too tempting on an u/s.

With my DD I KNEW she was a girl. There was no changing my mind! This time around, I just CANNOT pinpoint it! I keep changing my mind! Chinese baby chart says girl, wives tale stuff is about dead even on boy or girl... I just CANNOT figure it out!!! LOL I guess wee will see in the Spring! :lol

OK, I'll add my prediction to the list! I'm very unsure, but I think I'm having a boy. I had a dream and I think it was a boy, but I'm hoping for another dream. The Chinese chart says it should be a girl (but then, it said my niece would be a boy!) and my old wives results are like Kerri's - 50-50. Though, some of them I couldn't answer very well - my head faces west in bed, and I've been craving sweets AND salty, and I have no idea whether I'm carrying high or low yet!

I feel VERY strongly that this is a boy (although I've had both a boy dream and a girl dream). Dh feels very strongly that it's a girl.

Actually, we have a bet riding on it: whoever's wrong has to cook the "winner" the dinner of their choice.

I'm just praying we're not both right! Eek! :boybaby: :girlbaby:

I'll let you all know after the u/s on Jan. 6.

We're betting on ours too...the loser has to plan the first evening out with the grands babysitting. We first came up with the loser having to change the first 50 diapers but I really didn't want it to be a punishment...especially b/c I've sort of changed my mind! I was so sure that I was having a girl that it was hard to even imagine a boy growing inside of me...really, really hard. Almost impossible, I really struggled with the idea. I forced myself to get over that one weekend, and ever since I've been certain that it's a boy...we'll see!

I've been wrong everytime. So I go with the opposite of what I think it is! (in this case, it should be a boy).

:shrug Don't have a clue! We keep thinking that b/c everyone keeps telling us that baby will be a :girlbaby: that it will certainly turn out to be :boybaby: . We're not finding out 'til May so.... :p

I have been convinced that it is a girl. We planned baby making sex for conceiving a girl.

This Thurs. I had an ultrasound. It is an 80% chance that it is a girl. I expected to feel super elated about finding out the sex, I just smiled and said "oh, ok, great!" I think it is because I've known it has been a girl all along. It is nice to have it scientifically supported. Wouldn't it be a hoot if chicky chick turned otu to be a boy! :lol

I didn't have a strong intuition with my son.
