BCBS of MI does cover CPMs. You may have to bill entirely under prenatals though. You can call them and simply say that you have a care provider you've chosen for prenatal/labor/delivery/postnatal care. Do not mention homebirth as they really don't need to know.

Tell them that you'll be submitting the claims yourself. Then, you'll need to ask them the following:
1. What information do they need on a claim form (I have one made up you can copy FYI)?
2. Is there any additional information needed to reimburse you vs. paying your care provider directly?
3. Where do you send the claim forms?
4. How long does it take the claim forms to be processed?
5. After approval when will a check be sent?

It takes time to submit bills yourself, but it's well worth the effort. :)

Can I not even call them and just submit the (everything they could possibly need) paperwork after the birth?? ; ) And I am OK with them paying the midwife as I know she will reimburse me. I have the address to send claims to and was told before (in general) that all claims should be approved/not approved within 30 days.
