Hey ladies,
Just thinking ahead....I know we've mentioned this briefly in the past, but what do you all want to do as a group after we've all had our babies? I know we get a thread on Life with Babe or something like that.
I wondered if people also want to be in a yahoogroup together? I am in one for when I had my DS, and 3 yrs later, while a much smaller group, we are still together and going strong- many of us have met IRL and we are a very closeknit group.
I'd love to share the same thing with this group as we continue on in our postpartum lives! I'd love to be able to continue to get to know one another as our babies grow up.
So what does everyone think? I could tentatively agree to be owner/moderator, although of course I have no idea what life will be like with 2 kids! I'm sure we could share mod duties among several people, although I'm not sure there would be anything for a mod to actually do, since we could just include those in this group and not accept new members.

I think it's a nice idea. I am a member of a group on another site of moms that were all preggers for the first time together. Now, that's 4 yrs ago now and i don't really go to it often, but it's nice to check in and see what's what. Plus, checking in with everyone helps me maintain my sanity at work! So I'd be into it.

Me too!!! I really get alot out of chatting with all of you mamas...it's been helpful in so many ways. And therapeutic, I might add! I think it would be such a great help (and fun, too!) to continue on after the babes are all born! :love
I'd join. I know I haven't been around much during this pregnancy (that's what having two already will do for you!), but I know the DDC I belonged to here when I was pregnant with Emily is still going strong over at the Toddler's forum. I'm up for either a yahoo group, or LWAB.

I'd join. I'm a member of a board that I joined while pg with Nate and while a smaller group, we are very active and it's been wonderful to "watch" our kids grow up "together".

I'm in!! Would we do that instead of a Nov. 05 "Life with a babe" thread? There might be some value in deciding we'll all go to one or the other insted of checking/posting both places... (Not that we have to decide that now, just thought I'd throw it out there!)

Great idea . . . I am in! Although at the moment I don't get too much time to be online chatting as much as I did before. I am really getting used to having a baby again and having a family of 5 instead of 4. However once we all get settled into routine with our little babe's then "bring it on"!!!
That is of course If you all will have me. :p

I'd love to be in a yahoo group. That would help ensure that we don't get lost. That would be fun!

Yeah, a Yahoo group would be way better because I know I won't be part of the Nov. life with a babe thread. This one's not coming out til Christmas!

Yay, well I'm really glad people want to stick together after our "Nov." babies are born! My other group has meant so much to me. And I would miss you all too much if we didn't have a lot of contact after the babies are born.
I find that a yahoogroup is much easier to keep up with since all the messages go right to your inbox, and you don't have to log on and look at different threads, etc.
Any ideas for what we should call it? It doesn't have to be anything fancy...just something like "MDC Nov Mamas" or similar.

A yahoo group sounds great to me! My only suggestion would be to name it MDC_Nov_2005 or something, because a lot of the DDCs are doing this now. My DDC from DS is still going strong! And, of course, I request that whoever the moderator/owner of the group is be pretty selective about allowing people in - just to make sure we don't have any weirdo-stalker-types who are there to look at pics of babies or other icky intentions...

That's a good name suggestion.
And I also feel that we should keep it to just whoever is in this DDC- close it to new members- with my other group, for a time we were accepting new members, and initally it was ok since we were all new moms, but as several years went by, it became disruptive to have someone new b/c we had all bonded and gotten so close. We got into several fights over whether we should take new members or not, and several people left over it! So I"d hate for that to happen in this group- plus, I counted on the due date list, and there are actually 90 people on it!! So that is plenty, even if they don't all regularly post.

I like the idea of a Yahoo group for the privacy reasons. There are also private EZ Boards but I'm not sure how they are set up.

I'm with you on limiting the membership, too. I think for the most part it seems we are all in line in all of this. So...should we start setting it up now so we can start admitting members, etc? Even though it seems most of us haven't had our babies yet? Maybe BECAUSE many of us haven't had our babies yet so we have the time to do what we need to do with it?
Let me know how I can help.

Ok, here's the like to the yahoogroup for anyone who wants to join:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MDC_Nov_2005/
I am too lame at the moment to write anything good as the group's description or add a photo, but I will at some point when I regain some functioning brain cells (might be a while!).
I made the group unlisted in the yahoo directory, and once it seems like everyone has joined who wants to, we'll close it to new members, IF people here are in agreement.
Good thinking, Erica, to get this done before a lot of us have the babies so we don't get 'lost'.
I guess we need a few moderators, but like I said before, I can't imagine a moderator would actually have to do much since we already know each other!

This is great!
nataliekat and erica, I made you moderators since you volunteered to help :) Let me know if things change and you don't want to be.
The funny thing is, we will have to get to know each other all over again, because most people I don't recognize by their email addresses or yahoo id's! For the longest time, I'm sure we'll all be like "now who is this again??" LOL :lol We'll all have to have sig lines that say 'Mary, itsybitsy on MDC' or whatever!

Just joined...let me know if you need any more moderating help! Just so you girls know, you can make up a "new" name and make it your default, instead of your e-mail address. That way we could use our MDC names, or something close to it, so that we all recognize each other! Just a thought!

It doesn't matter when the babies actually decide to come- Oct, Nov, Dec- just that it WAS our Nov. DDC!
Our numbers are increasing! I think we were up to 24 at last count.
FSM- I had NO IDEA you were loraeileen- I was wondering where 'she' went b/c I remembered the name from earlier on in the DDC and now haven't seen it in a long time! LOL :lol

Mary - Let me know what moderators do. I'll be happy to help.
I think we should all post pics of ourselves on there, too, with our babes, kids, families, whatever. Then we can all get a good look at each other and refer back when we don't recognize someone's name.
