Just got a + , still in shock

Hi Mamas!

It looks like I'll be joining you here in July. I just got a :+ . I'm surprised, since my LMP was just October 19, but I'm not surprised because well, I thought to take the test early...my period isn't due for almost a week. Or at least another 5 days.

We have two daughters, an almost-four-year old and a 17 month old. The younger is still nursing, and I don't have any plans to wean her. I didn't manage to nurse through my second pg and DD1 weaned at 20 months. We'll see how it goes this time.

I'm a little apprehensive because I work, and am about to make some big big changes at my office. I was kind of planning to put my nose to the grindstone and work like crazy for about a year, now that DD2 is bigger, so we could maybe save a few $$ before the next baby. But it looks like that plan is changing...

I am, on the other hand, super-excited, or I will be once the shock wears off.

I haven't told DH yet - trying to think of a good idea before he gets home.

Welcome Jessica!!! I am Kim, momma to 2 little ones also! Seth is 17 months and is still nursing up a storm. So, I'm planning to nurse him throughout this pregnancy also. When was your youngest born? Looks like they are the same age. :)
Here is how I told dh about the baby. I got ds a shirt that says, "I'm the Big Brother!", had him wear that and give Daddy the pregnancy test. It was really cute.

Kim, my DD was born June 12, so they are almost exactly the same age. My EDD on this one is between July 25 and August 1 (like the baby cares when you estimate??) So our kids are pretty close...

For telling DH, here's what I am thinking. When I was about 5 months pg with my first, I went to the grocery store STARVING. I think I was supposed to get three or four things, and of course I was hungry and pregnant and I went totally overboard. I decided right there in the aisle that I wanted to make chili, so I got lots of cans of beans. Kidney, pinto, cannelini, you name it. And I saw a can of Roman beans, which I had never heard of, and I thought "That looks like it would make good chili" so I got three or four cans.

I got home with my 22 grocery bags and DH just looked at me and said "You are never shopping alone while pregnant again." And he started unloading the groceries and came to all the beans and just started cracking up. With each can he pulled out we laughed a little harder, and when he got to the Roman beans said "ROMAN BEANS???" and he just collapsed, and I laughed so hard I peed my pants.

SO I was thinking I might head over to the store and buy a bunch of roman beans and put them on the counter, where he can find them when he asks what we should make for dinner.

Of course, he might not get it...

That actually worked really well :)
He came in and in all of the ruckus of hellos and two kids running through the kitchen he spied the clean counter (there are a few others that were not so clean but I wanted to showcase my little message) and the beans (THREE cans, of course) and he said "Roman beans for dinner?" and then did a complete double take and said "Are we having another baby?" and I cried a little and all was good.
