My dh and I are struggling this time around with names-of course once we find out the sex it will help to narrow things down.Anybody have some ideas yet?

So far we agreed but arent definite on Naomi for a girl maybe Quinn for a boy....He says Trey for a boy say no way! I said Marley for a girl or Sophia Corrinne but he said no way. :irked: :lol

My husband and I haven't talked about it at all, actually, and I haven't thought about it either. I like your names!

I am convinced that this child will not have a name until it is at least 3 months old. Dh and I have both found names that we sort of like, but nothing that grabs either of us, forget finding something that both of us think is perfect. This is much harder the 2nd time around.

Ugh. Picking names is soooo hard. Can anyone suggest girl or boy names that are

not in the top 20
kinda germanic
two syllables
easy to say
easy to spell
in the baby name book
With a name like mine, trust me, the last three are important!

We have boxed ourselves into a corner trying to follow up Wolfgang's name :lol !

we have had our girl name for a while Naomi Mercy. BUT, I am convinced this one is a boy, which leaves us with needing a BOY O name (long story, but it has to start with an O), and we are at odds.
I like Ocean but hubby says NO. He likes Obadiah. The middle name will probably be Chassid.
My grandfathers name was Orlu, but I have never been able to find it in ANY name books anywhere and it does sound kinda old. who knows, any ideas?

We are so undecided... I tend to like classic names and dh tends to like a wide variety!

For a boy, I saw the name Trevor today and thought that was cute. :)

The first two pg we had name ideas but didn't really settle on a name until after the big u/s but since we're not having an u/s this time we have more time to choose a name for sure and yet I want to go ahead and start working on names since we have a hard time deciding!

If anyone has some suggestions... dd is Elana Grace (eelay-na) and ds is Jeremy Kenneth. I don't care for trendy names. Jeremy is would normally be too popular for my tastes but we were naming him in memory of my brother and FIL so it didn't matter.

Have fun everyone!

Rowenta: Orlu is a town in France. Try Googling it.

Dh and I have added Samara to our list of girls' names. So right now it's: Samara Jade, Natalia Jade (Tasha), or Lyra Jade. For boys, we're pretty much stuck on Asher Hart. Boys' names are REALLY hard for us.

I think Greta is adorable! I also like Liesl, but it is a little Sound of Music.

Dunno if it's in the book, but Tristan? It's a kewl name.

We've had names all set for a while now.
Boy: Jace Lawrence (after a close friend and my grandpa)
Girl: Elanor Rose (after DH's grandma, with a Tolkien-esque twist and rose is kind of a 'family middle name' in our current group of friends, if that makes sense. Might do Elanor Gabrielle though, cuz the babe I miscarried was going to be Elanor Rose and I don't really want to give her name away, if that makes any sense. Something should be special to her, even if it was too early to know if she was really a girl.)

I'm obsessed with boy names that end in "o." Can't use Milo b/c good friends of ours have one. I do like Theo...any others? (It can't be *too* ethnic b/c we're pretty whitebread, although MIL is full Italian. Plus has to go okay with Ronan.)

Names are fun!

Boy: Elijah James

For a boy we like Dominick Evan or Bradley Evan....We need to use DH's name Evan as the middle, even though it's going to drive me to grey hairs

For a girl, We like Josephine Rose (after my two great-aunts) or Cecilia Grace. I really liked Annabelle, but DH hated it.

It'll probably change 400 times between now and when the babe gets here though :lol

I'm visiting from the July board, but I'm wondering why you chose Mercy? I love that name, and have considered it as well as Clemency. Does that seem to weird?

Girls name will be Rose Marie (not too fond of the mn myself, but I love the use of Rose as a fn, so I gave up mn rights to have a fn I love). Boy's name will be David Micheal... kinda boring, yes, but that is DH's name and it is a family tradition and important to DH. I love the name David in any case, despite the fact that it is very common.

Ksenia... here is a link to popular German names. http://german.about.com/library/blname_top10.htm I personally LOVE Maximilian. Another cool german boy's name is Hans. The girl's list is pretty boring, but there are links to other lists of names.

You didn't ask me... but I love the name Mercy! :) We might do that for a middle name if we have a girl depending on the first name we choose... I'd like to do Hope, Faith, Joy, Glory or Mercy since dd's mn is Grace. ;)

Hmm... Clemency for a girl right? Do you have a nn in mind? If I heard Clem I would think boy, nn for Clement or something.

I hadn't thought boy or girl... it's pretty awkward without a nickname, and clem reminds me of phlegm, ew, heh.

I also think Prosper is a really great name.

Benjalo, Clémence is a girl's name in France, but I agree, I don't think it translates well into English, esp nickname wise!

We agreed on a girl's name before we even got pg: Elissa Grey. (Grey is a family name, Elissa was a phonician queen).

Boy names-- not so much. We're having a lot of trouble because the name has to sound good in THREE languages: French, English and Arabic. DH wants an Arabic or Phonician name only. I say, the kid will have a hard enough time fitting in with two parents who are "foreign" and will need a name that can help him blend. Plus, the last name is pretty obviously not French/English anyway.

I really like the following for boys

Thomas
Paul
Alexander
Edward / Edouard
All of these names would work where DH comes from as there is a large Christian population, (& we are Catholic) so it would not seem weird.

and for middle names either Georges or David after our fathers.

It's a darn good thing we still have six months to battle this out! :lol

Im not saying anything about names we have picked so far until we know the sex :mischief I am from Russia and DH is from Spain so the names we choose have to reflect our background at least a little...therefore naming a girl Joe would be out of the question even though i think its adorable.
BUT aside from the names we are thinking of using, here is a list of names i have always loved:

GIRLS:
Charlie
Nadia (in Russia full version of this name Nadezhda means Hope)
Vera (means Faith in Russian)
Sofia ( DD's name)
Anastasia
Isabella
Aurelie/Aurelia
Audrey
Brigett
Mila
Mia
Lily
Rose (LOVE those together - Lily Rose)
Katia
Daria
Bruna
Carla
Santa

this isnt the complete list but i cant think of the rest right this second,i do have prego brain after all. :nut

BOYS:

this list is much shorter, boys names for some reason are a lot harder for me to really love. And i cant stand Russian boy's names.. :irked:

Sergio (DH's name)
Eduard (my Dad)
Milo
Milan
Chase
Matteo
Santiago
Jack

OH OH Forgot one name! I have just heard this name recently for the first time ever, and it grew on me and now i find it adorable. Dd goes to preschool with a girl named Minty, and her full name is Araminta. They are from England, and im not sure if the name orginated there somewhere or if it is made up. But it suits the little girl soooo much!

This child will never be name- NEVER!! I love the name Henry for a boy and DH hates it- why, you ask? I don't know- "I just don't like it" insert pouty tone here. And he refuses to counter with a boy's name because "it's not going to be a boy." AAAAHHHHH!!

For girls, he is more willing to discuss since he is convinced this baby is a girl, but I'm not in love with anything yet. We like Elinor or Evelyn (for DH's great grandmother). I like them but they don't feel right to me. As soon as I found Alden's name, I fell in love and it was HIS name right away. I am afraid that I'll never be able to top his name because I love it so muich. Luckily, my u/s is in less than 2 weeks so maybe we can get down to some serious name decisions. :flipped

Ok I won't look at girl names bc I dont' want to get my hopes up so anyways
dh and I looked through all the boy names and could only agree on 2 names so
we just put them together and came up with Dillon Brett......
