I'm so excited. She couldn't be any more different than the ob we used last time (yay). It was so relaxing to meet with her, even the first time. I kept thinking "wow, I get to decide that?" She hasn't had her own practice very long but I immediately felt confident in her abilities. And I loved her assistant! I can't wait to have a homebirth. :D

Good for you I know that feeling very well! :) :thumb
My friend had very difficult first pregnancy, ending with pre-eclampsia and C-section and very pre-mature baby. She did not wanna go through that again so I told her to call a local midwife, just to talk to her and find out if she had any advice for her. She was not even thinking about having a HB because she thought she was just considered too high rist to even try. But she did call her and now she is planning a homebirth!! :love Once you talk to a real homebirth midwife you can NOT choose to go to hospital again, can you?
I am happy for you! Enjoy every visit with her. :heartbeat

We just confirmed our midwife too. She is somewhat less experienced than the other options in the area, but there are so many things I just love about her. I am so grateful for the confidence to birth at home with a midwife.
Was doing some research for a doula client today and found out one local hospital has a 16% instrument delivery rate and that the two largest hospitals in the area currently boast 40% and 48% c-section rates!!! That's not a labor and delivery unit-- that's a surgery mill!!!!! makes me wanna :splat
