I don't even know where that is, so I guess I don't live there but welcome to Mothering.com! Maybe you could track down a La Leche meeting in your area? That's how I started meeting people.

The land of many people :D - Anchorage.
What an awesome time of year. The spit was simply gorgeous and we had soooo much fun.
Must say I wondered if we could ever live down in your area, though. I like the large plots, but gee, it'd be hard to make a living and I think the driving would kill us. I would LOVE to find some cabin land, though. Around Cooper Landing hahaha.
So, much APing down your way?:p

What did you do in Homer? I love going there during the summer and hanging out on the beach all day.
I like the land too. We only have an acre, but really want more land by a lake. We may achive that goal in a couple years:)
My dh has to drive about 30 minutes to work. We live in Soldotna and dh works in North Kenai/Nikiski. We moved here just over a year ago from Utah and dh had to drive 40 minutes in traffic. He hated that. He does not mind the drive now. No traffic and pretty scenery.
My dh and I see how much the houses are going for in Anchorage and just cringe! TINY lots and cookie cutter houses for way too much money!
NO! I have not found any AP moms yet. :(I am trying to find them though. Do you get together with AP moms in Anchorage?

Hi Missy,
I was just in Homer this weekend over easter. We met up with some friends and played on the beach and flew kites and made sand castles on a windy and rather cloudy, cool day. It was fun though:)
Where is it you go shopping now that K-mart is closed? Fred Meyers is nice, but now I can't do my price comparrison shopping:crying
anyway, I am not a big poster on Mothering, but I hope to see you around:thumb

Hey! We just moved to Kenai last week! My husband is going to be the music teacher at Mt. View. We have one little boy who is 19 months.
I would love to meet some other AP mamas in the Kenai/Soldotna area!
Oh...and by the way...if anyone is interested- Full Circle Farms tells me they will be starting a drop off point in Soldotna for their CSA boxes of fruits and veggies. Other stuff is available too. If you're interested, just write them!

Hi KP mamas! We're down in Homer now but will be spending some time in Soldotna. Maybe we should work out a Soldotna park meet-up... over Labor Day, maybe? I'm pretty sure I'll be in Sold. then. I'd love to meet some other MDC mamas.
Missy -- Where are you in Homer? How old are your kids? We should meet up! PM me if you're interested! :)

I just emailed them today to ask what they were working on!!! So great to hear. We do have some selection of foods of course "some" but I'm currently making baby food and trying to get my 5 month old slowly into solids one at a time.
I'm still new to AP and am enjoying it so much, although I know NO ONE with this lifestyle so it would definetly be nice to talk with other people who share the same views!
Although still waiting to hear back from Full Circle Farms in regards to an actual date. Do you know when they will start shipping here?
Take care guys!

Nik -- Yeah, up there in Sold/Kenai I think there are less AP families than down here in Homer. Although I know there are some around. I did meet a few AP-like mamas through the La Leche League that meets at the Soldotna Hospital. I think if you look up the LLL online you can find the Soldotna group. I wonder if we know each other -- has your family been around the KP for long? Mine's a homesteader family from waaay back.
Maybe JroseLee will know more about the Full Circle Farms shipping dates...

Hey everyone!
I've been in contact with Full Circle Farms (they are probably tired of me!) and they are hoping to start this upcoming week or the next. She said just keep checking their website and once it shows up as a drop off point, we can sign up! Isn't that great! Now I'll have the Azure Standard co-op and FCF...maybe I can stop going to Fred Meyer all the time! :lol
I think that there is (or will be) a LLL meeting in Soldotna for daytime meetings. I know the one that meets in Kenai is evening. Only daytime works for me, so I'm going to be giving Olga a call and seeing when the Soldotna meetings are.
  So....I would really love to meet some other AP mamas here in Kenai/Soldotna. Is anyone interested in setting up a weekly playdate group or something where we can all get together? Maybe we could rotate houses or something? I'm game if anyone else is!!!

augustine - no on the family. I am from Anchorage, grew up in Seward as a kid. But other than that I had the opportunity to go to Kenai last year and did & don't regret it one bit!
Hi jroselee! how did the LLL ever work out? I've been dealing with issues regarding breastfeeding and always find myself guilty for going like I truly don't belong for only 'part time' nursing. DS is 7 months old, Im a sahm also.
Ever try fullcircle? I have been in and out of anchorage due to family issues and havent ordered yet! I hear their not bad and much better than what we get locally.
How do you like kenai so far?

LLL was fun! I've only been to one meeting. Then I skipped the next one because Ds hadn't slept well (story of my life) and we were exhausted here.
We are getting Full Circle right now and I've really liked it. We get a medium box. It gives you a lot more variety!

Awesome to hear about Full Circle I'mhoping to start getting them next week. It saddens me the limitations we have in our local grocery stores. And local farmers are packed up for winter :(.
Hope all is well, are you living full time in Kenai currently? Or temporary?
