We are moving there this summer from Mississippi. Just curious if there are any MDC moms there?

Hooray, you're moving to NEPA.

We moved here 1 1/2 years ago and have been VERY happy. There's a lot to love; there are problems, but overall it is a beautiful, friendly, easy place to live.

We're in Kingston, across the river from Wilkes-Barre. Where are you moving to, and do you need any help/advice?

Hi there. We are moving to South Canaan or somewhere in the surrounding area for my husband to go to seminary. I have no idea where Kingston is.. is it anywhere close to South Canaan?

I too am a stay at home mom feminist. You can see their ages from my sig.

The only real question I have-- is clothing. We do not have very cold winters here in MS, so I do not know if we have the proper clothing for winters up there. What type of clothing do you recommend and do you know of any places online I could get them? Or do you think we could get by with just long sleeved stuff and a coat?

I don't know where South Canaan is, but I'm sure it is COLD. It is like 17 degrees now. Brrr....

You'll definitely need winter clothing. Try Land's End and Hannah Andersson. They are having great sales now. Hannah Andersson has great snow suits etc.

I'll look into where you're moving. Hmmm...

You'll be about 45 minutes north east of me. There's a great little zoo (if you're okay with zoos) not too far from you (i think) and my three year old LOVES the train museum called Steamtown which is in Scranton, halfway in between you and me. Maybe we'll meet there this summer.

Hey guys! not too sure where canaan is....what city is it near? I am in PA too, a bit north of allentown. we are relocating to the wilkes-barre area in....oh.....about 6 weeks! There are lots of MDC moms in the area, and a lot of really great moms in the local LLL.
IMO this is a pretty cold winter. I have lived in this part of the country all my life. We have a few sweaters, long johns, long sleeved t's and warm coats. I would get the kids snow pants, hats and 2 pairs of mittens each too! Hope you like it here :)

As far as clothing... it's COLD here this year! If you're tight on money (as we are!) there is a Salvation Army right in Honesdale, the county seat of Wayne County. I'd be more than happy to tell you how to get there from your new home!
