Assalam Alakium, Sister Umm Hanna:
I am from Austin, TX USA and I have been residing in Alexandria, Egypt for 2 years now, Subhan Allah. I gave birth to my first baby, Ibrahim, July 05 in Alexandria, Egypt, Mash Allah. I just thought I would post a reply and give the salams and answer any questions you may have, Insha Allah.
Do you have an idea of which city you will move to? Do you have an idea of things are you going to pack for the move? Have you read any books or sites? Please, please ask away about Egypt and I will do my best to answer you and if I don't know the answers I will ask around, Insha Allah.
There is a Yahoo group called Alex_Sisters if you are interested in joining. There are a lot of sisters from all over the globe that belong to the group, Mash Allah.
Take care

Assalam Alakium:
Alhumdulillah, you seem to have it together, Mash Allah. Well just a note on paperpwork and passports. If you plan to have more children while in Egypt, make sure to pack papers proving your "physically residence" in the US for at least 5 years (this number does change according to the US embassy in Egypt, Allah Knows best), Insha Allah. This is if you wish your baby to have American citizenship, Insha Allah. I am currently going through this process for Ibrahim, Subhan Allah. Sending for my high school transcripts from Alexandria is a bit nerve wracking, to say the least, Alhumdulillah.
May Allah bless your move and make it a beneficial one for your family, Ameen!
Take care,
Sumaiyah
