I hear they are doing a memorial on 12/8 in Strawberry Fields, Central Park, NYC. Wish I could be there.....but would love to hear from NY Mamas who attend. Apparently they are shooting a documentary that day at the site.

I cant believe its been 25yrs!

wow, I can't believe it's been 25 years either.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade and I had just made friends with a girl in my science class whom everyone made fun of because she loved the Beatles...like *really* loved the Beatles, when all the other kids were into other groups. I was reading a book she loaned me called "Growing Up With The Beatles" at the time John was killed.

that book, that friendship, and all the exposure to the Beatles after John's murder started me on an odyssey of Beatle love that I continue to this day.

I am still friends with that girl, too. :)

I can't believe it's been 25 years!! I remember so vividly... I was in the car with my whole family, we were moving from Palm Desert to Apple Valley (crap town, CA) and it was on the news. I cried for two hours. :(

I remember, too. Was in my dorm room at SUNY Buffalo when I got the call. Got a lot of calls that night. Had been a "Beatle freak."

Sigh.

DH lived just blocks from there and went to the Dakota that night. Spent the night on the street.

BTW, am still on the UWS, but the last time I went to Strawberry Fields was on 9/11, 2002, and there were rats there. In the middle of the day. Was entirely disgusted and haven't been back. Though I'm told it's been cleaned out, still can't deal. Am easily skeeved.

it was my freshman year at college. i was hanging with some friends in the sauna when it was announced over the radio. :(
