Hello beautiful mamas! This is my first post, but I have been reading for a while. My question is, what do you do when your breasts leak? I wear pads in my bra during the day, but at night and around the house, I am leaking and staining my clothes. I am at 20 weeks, and so happy to be pregnant, but just wondering if anyone has any advice. Thanks!

I've leaked pretty much continuously for the last 5 1/2 yrs (since 16 wks with ds#1). I wear a bra 24 hrs a day with pads in it. I take it off for showers and sex pretty much. I just can't stand staining shirts or waking in a pool of milk. If I just can't stand the bra I put a towel under me in the bed and just change it when I get up to go potty in the night.

Thanks, pfamilygal. Guess I'm going to have to find a comfy bra to wear more often. BTW, I'm in TX, too, in Round Rock.

I'm not leaking (yet) nor did I when I was pg with dd. But, after having dd I leaked for about the first nine months. I used the Gerber disposable pads continuously. I even slept in them. The only time I didn't have them on was when I was showering or nursing. Cause I leaked even during sex. :o

Any other first timers experiencing this?!? I've been leaking since 18 weeks which is just silly :rolleyes Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that my body is gearing up for lots of milk :thumb but when I got up in the middle of the night last night there was enough colostrum to actually drip down my belly and hit my knee :blush I'm afraid to imagine what the postpartum situation is going to be like.....

I haven't had a problem this pregnancy, but I did with my first starting around 15 weeks. I actually wore nursing pads from the time I was 15 weeks pregnant with BeanBean until he was about 14 months old and I was far enough along in my second pregnancy that my milk had mostly dried up. :o I haven't had a leakage problem since, though i was kind of expecting one this time around since neither of my children is nursing. :shrug It's all good; I know I'll have plenty of milk once BellyBean is born. :thumb

I've been leaking since about 15 wks. Not continously, but on some days. DH thinks it is hilarious when I look down and notice a spot on my shirt. :irked: What is so hilarious about it? I have asked him this....but he just thinks it is so funny.

No, not leaking here. And it is so weird to me. This is the first time in 4 years that I haven't even had a drop of milk. It makes me worry a little, but I'm sure it's fine?

Mine has actually pretty much dried up now, at least as far as milk goes. If I squeeze a nipple I get a big thick bead of yellow colostrum. Mmm, liquid gold.

Mine just started! 27 weeks, first pg. Only one, and only a little, but it HURTS! Hmmm. So far, I've only stained a bit..... what is it you add to the wash water? Baking soda?
What are everyone's fave pads? I have a GC to Motherhood I'm sure not gonna use on clothes, maybe I can get some there? Or, can I just use some cloth or something? Hmmm....

I like Johnson and Johnson disposable Healthflow pads. I could never find reusables ones that weren't totally noticable under clothes. And I don't need to draw any more attentions than necessary to these bodacious tatas.

Well, either i was sweating to the point of dripping last night...or the boobs began leaking while I was asleep. :lol I will be interested to see if it happens again...it woke me up, and I was rather groggy, and didn't check thouroughly to see if that was what it was...:shake I have a feeling it was leaking, not sweating, since I am not a big sweater.
Well, if it happens again, then I am gonna need to start sleeping with a bra on...felt kinda clammy after it happened. :lol

Started at 30 weeks for me. Hormonally I'm a mess, and I kind of attribute it to that.
I have really bad edema, and starting to get varicose veins, and I don't know if they are related. But I'm just chalking it up to hormones.

I'm a first timer as well, and I don't "leak" persay, but I've been able to easily squeeze colostrum out since 15 weeks.

No leaking here, I didn't have it with DSs pregnancy either though :)

I'm not leaking, but I get colostrum if I squeeze. I liked the reusable curved cloth pads from Motherhood. I'd like to try some wool pads, but they look bulky. I wasn't a heavy leaker though, so the washables were good for me. I've heard some people just saturate them. I have heard good things about those silicone cup thingies you wear. I can't remember the name of it. Kind of like a nipple shield, but it's specifically to contain the leakage, and I think it compresses or something to actually keep it from happening. They have them at Babies R Us.

I've had some friends love them and others hate them, but the ones who love them REALLY love them.

No leakage here - I've been lactating since DS was born (June 2003) so it's sort of strange to have dried up during pregnancy.
With DS I wore washable organic pads (totally noticeable if I wore anything that resembled tight, but I didn't really give a hoot), and had to wear them for about a year. After that, my supply was pretty well regulated and haven't worn any pads of any sort since (and for the past 5 months wouldn't have needed anythign anyway).
I think I'm starting to produce a bit again. The breasts are swelling a bit (not hard to notice when I'm normally a 34B), but not sore yet (thankfully).
Pads are the way to go. I would use a towel at night, as I didn't really like wearing a bra 24-7, and I could get away with it. Early on (right after birth) the breasts seem to be really full and still in 'supply/demand figuringout' mode.
Cheers,
Black Orchid

No leaking, but I do get a letdown sensation sometimes when I'm nursing DD. I always check to see if the opposite one is leaking, but it hasn't yet. That's fine with me because I'm sure I'll be leaking plenty when this baby is born! :lol

I have started leaking out of one side if I'm not wearing a bra (the friction.) It's pretty much what I expected.
I am actually pretty excited b/c I just got wool nursing pads from a WAHM... they seem very cool, I know I'll like them better than the disposable pads I used. I haven't tried the lilypadz... I don't think they'd work for me, part of my problem is just oversupply and OAL and I don't know how they'd supress that, lol.
