I had PIH (pregnancy induced hypertenstion). My baby is now 1 week old and the midwives told me to keep an eye on my BP to be sure it stabalizes. I was planning a homebirth but because of the complications with this BP and getting the good ole stomach flu we had our baby in the hospital. But the thing is while in the hospital after having our baby my BP was excellent. Around 130/low 80's or even in the 70's for me this is great. Yesterday we checked it and it had spiked way up again to 160/110. I am hoping that someone else has had the same issues and can advice me. I am super duper frustrated with this. We called the MW and she said to make an apt with a dr. ASAP and had all the usual scare tactics of having a stroke and so on. I quickly drank chamomile tea and took some chamomile homeopathic stuff and it brought it down in a couple of hours. My question is has anyone ever experienced this and what did you do? I am 29 and not really ready to go on BP meds, I think that is really extreme and surely there is another answer here. I was also taking pain meds for my sore bottom, of which I have since quit due to the theory that it may contribute to the H BP.
Sorry this is so long and involved but am hoping this will sound familiar to someone and hopefully not so scary. It was bad to have to deal with the stress during my pg but now it just feels like too much to have to continue thinking about it especially when the mw's are a little freaked by it as well!!!!
