I am eating my 5 fruits and veggies (most of the time) My problem is that I eat way too much sugar. Like handfuls of chocolate almonds throughout the day.
I have to get this stuff out of the house!! Tell me I've been a bad mommy!!
Anyone else struggling to eat well?

5??? My pregnancy nutrition books say 8 or more!! (There is no way I am getting that every day.) I usually have a great breakfast, an okay lunch (except when I skip it) and a variably healthful dinner. I also like sugar but I haven't really been wanting it much. I did steal a donut from the computer lab this morning. :)
I realized a few days ago that I wasn't having enough water so I bought a 1.5L SIGG bottle from my local cloth diaper retailer. Better than plastic!
I need to cook dinner more often. I eat better when I cook at home.

I've done a lot better with adding veggies, fiber, water, etc. but still really struggling with chocolate. I know I'm having too much sugar. I have to work on it.

I'm doing okay with fruits & veggies (though mostly fruits), LOTS of water, making a point to reach for an apple or crackers & cheese instead of a cookie or chips. I feel like I am eating a ton of dairy, but that's probably because I am coming off of five years without the stuff . . . and although I have been avoiding sugar like crazy (the refined stuff just makes me feel EXHAUSTED after eating it, as I come down from the sugar-high), I am not always successful. Today I gave in and ate ONE Newman-O . . . but I am worried about tomorrow, since DH came home with two pints of Ben & Jerry's that are sitting in the freezer taunting me!
Dinner tonight was good, though; sweet potato & red bean chili, cornbread, and salad. And a bunch of satsumas (my favorite part of December). :lol

Let's see, breakfast has been egg heavy pancakes (use like 6 instead of 2 in the recipe for extra protein) with a bit of mushed strawberries for topping. Snack is whole grain & sugars free toast with a couple slices cheese (i am sooo gunna miss dairy again, as there is a lot of milk protein allergies/sensitivities in both our families, I cut it out at 8 months pregnant so that baby has a lovely newborn period and I don't have to deal with lots of reflux, baby vomit, and cranky baby) Lunch is whatever we cooked for dinner the night before (in this case... pannbiffar with mushroom sauce, potato medallions (made ourselves), and asparagus, MMM), snack is either more toast with cheese or a couple pancakes, dinner is whatever we decide to make. Tomorrow it will be Indian Meatballs with baby potatos and spinach. (not sure about tonight, maybe some kind of thai take-out as I don't feel like food shopping by myself with my son. I haven't qutie recovered well enough from jet lag just yet to tackle that, tee hee.)
(pannbiffar is groundmeat mixed with spices, a couple egg yolks and some cream, then formed into small "steaks" no idea what that is called in english though)
I haven't eaten sugars in years thanks to RadiantRecovery.com and I don't really like fruits, so I just try to stuff myself with veggies, heheh. Love fresh broccoli, tomatos, bell peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, artichokes.. ooh dear, i am drooling now. I think I have some artichoke hearts left.. maybe i'll have that with lunch instead of asparagus! YUM!

my diet is just dreadful right now. I've been having to force myself to eat vegetables...I just don't even want them at all. I feel like all I eat is cheese, meat, bread (at least it's whole wheat) and chocolate. I must be into the high calorie-carb stuff. And I eat way too much of the wrong stuff!
I know about the chocolate. I have two bags of peanut butter cups in my cabinet for a cookie exchange recipe this Saturday, and I am trying to fight the urge to break into them! It's really hard!!!!!
I feel like a big fat cow right now.

I think I'd be doing better on my veg. intake if I'd only make myself a salad every day. As it is, I know I'm not getting 5 full servings.
I've been making sure to eat protein with every meal/snack. If I don't eat protein, my energy disappears and I find myself wanting to snack on sugary stuff (anyone here finding themselves in the kitchen making 1/16th of a chocolate chip cookie recipe? :eyesroll).
For breakfast, I try to have some low-fat cheese on my toast, for lunch I've been loving toasted pita with hummus, and for dinner we almost always have some sort of meat...recently it's been turkey and vegetable soup (homemade...mmmmmm). About two or three times a week we grill chicken or beef and have it with big salads.
I wish my husband was more of a cook. Sometimes I'm too tired to even *think* of food I want to eat...but when I leave it up to him, he always makes Annie's mac-and-cheese. I'm going to be OFF mac and cheese once this pregnancy is over!
I'm not doing so well with weight gain...in the last two months I've gained over 15 pounds!! I feel like I'm eating healthy, just eating too much....and if I do get my paws on a dessert, I eat WAAAAAAYyyyyy too much. :shrug I think it's time to start using the treadmill again.

I've been gaining 6-10 lbs per month. I've never seen so many dimples in my arse!!!

What have I been eating. Ummm....... crap? :innocent
Well, breakfast is good, mulitgrain toast w/ peanut butter or eggs, yogurt w/ grape nuts, and milk or grapefruit juice.
Lunch... sandwich w/ avocado, fruit, etc. if I'm good, if I'm rushed then mac-n-cheese w/ tuna (no more than once a week) or can of soup, etc.
Dinner, well, we've been getting better. Last night it was baked chicken and asparagus. The night before was chicken sausages and yam french fries (YUM!!!). But sometimes it's pizza. Or stuffing. That's it, just a box of stove-top and canned cranberrry sauce. :innocent
I snack in the AM and PM, I try to have fruit (pears and green apples are my favorite right now) but usually have one glass of hot chocolate w/ marshmallows every couple of days. Dried fruits, cheese, carrots, edamame, etc. are also on hand.
Yesterday I had my first big craving. For cake. I NEEDED cake. If I had the ingredients on hand, I would've made one during lunch! Instead I ran to the store after work and got an angel food cake, raspberries, and cool-whip. Not GOOD, but better than the cake I would've made of bought!
I've noticed that ice cream has made me gassy and bloated lately, so that's out. I hadn't been craving sweets much before, but now, 26 weeks into the pregnancy, I want sweets all the time.

I should add that while I know that I'm eating crap compared to what I should... I'm eating MUCH better than I did before pregnancy! :o

For me it's been chocolate milk. Hey, at least the milk's healthy, right? Then we ran out of chocolate syrup, but I found hot chocolate mix in the cupboard, so I've been drinking that.
I have my good days and my bad days as far as the rest of my diet goes. I don't do so hot on the fruits and veggies, but at least I stick whole grains. I really should be eating better. :(

Well, let's just say I haven't broken my coffee addiction, I just switched to decaf. It's horrible. I love the flavor and the heat and the sitting with the mug.
Other than that, I have to track what I eat on a weekly basis for my Bradley classes so I know I'm getting about 70-75 g of protein a day through meats and lots of cheese and yogurt. I eat 2 string cheeses a day. And I have not been good about veggies but am trying to stay on top of the fruits. I also foudn through my tracking that I really don't each much bread or rice. I was pretty surprised.
I do eat a fruit leather for a sweet fix and will have a hot chocolate instead of candy bar since there's on ly 17 g of sugar vs. 30.
But today--it was a decaf caramel macchiato and coffee cake from tarbucks. I just couldn't be good for one more minute.

Corhorvath, if you are craving sweets, try Larabars: http://www.larabar.com/ They were introduced to me by the husband of a formerly pregnant friend (she had a miscarriage). They are so good, and have NOTHING bad in them -- the one I had yesterday had dates, almonds and unsweetened cherries. Mmmmmmm!! (they are rather pricey though)
All your descriptions of dinners inspired me to cook tonight! It's been a while since I made something not out of a box. Red lentil and sweet potato stew. I threw some curry in there since we like our food hot. And fresh cornbread (okay, that's out of a box, but I did bake it!). :lol
I can't seem to manage many green veggies. I do well with the orange and yellow ones. I have been eating more salads, which is good.

I have to say that I also could be doing better. I also could be doing worse. I have been paying more attention to my protein intake b/c we learned about the Brewer diet in my Hypnobabies class. I am trying very hard to have at least 5 fruits and veggies/day. It really is hard! I feel like it was easier to eat healthy when I wasn't pg.

So, I must be pretty darn sweet...We had a cookie exchange at my parent's house on Saturday. Since then, I've been eating like 6 cookies a day! It's totally out of control!!!! :bouncy

Yeah, the Holiday Sweet Monster has arrived at my house. It's not that I eat bad food, it's just that I supplement it with too many good sweets!
