I know it's early...

We've had our boy name for a long time.

OCEAN

As for a girl...
Maybe Skylah...Rhiannon...Sorcha...Madaelyn...Piper...
we've used up all the girls names that we could agree on :lol

Oh I -love- Ocean! It sounds horrible with our last name though, as do most names :( And DH is a traditionalist when it comes to names: David, Thomas, Timothy etc. Where as I, being a Jennifer, along with the rest of the female population born from 1970- 1990 like more unusual names... So here are a few:
Girls:
-Chance- this is my fave, ever since I was a wee little gal
-Marti
-Sage
-Fiona
-Hailey

Boys: okay this is where we have big trouble coming up with anything..
-Marcus Justus
-Alexander Justus
-Julian/Jules
-Isaac
-Lucas

Oh I can't wait to hear everyone elses!

Freya Ina (Ina after my great grandmother)

Ari Giovianni (Giovanni after dh's grandfather, though he changed to John when he came to the us.)

We like the idea of using family names.
Our current faves are:
Sean Francis
or
Catherine Jane
We are still not sure but we don't agree on much else so I think these will be it.

Also being one of the Jennifers of the 1970s, I like unusual names. Thankfully, so does DH. Our boys are Riley and Torin.

We've had our girl's name from waaaaay before we ever starting ttc #1!! If we finally get our girl, her name will be Ebba.

Not a clue on a boy's name yet. It was hard enough coming up with the last 2!! Why do boys' names seem so much harder to come by?

I haven't even really wanted to go there yet (denial and all). If we have another boy we are going to be in serious trouble. We had a HELL of a time picking a name for our last one (we went with Jonah Reilly, BTW). I don't know what we'd do this time. I can come up with all kinds of boy names, but I'm married to the pickiest dh on earth. Seriously. The only name he could come up with last time was Damien. Uh, I don't think so. (Omen anyone?)

Last time we had Maia Abigael picked out for a girl. Maybe we'll go with that again.

we have plenty ideas for a girl, but not for a boy. i think boy names are harder to pick out.

Well, I have names picked out, but dh wants to wait before we really start discussing it.

Here are mine
Girls:
Nadia Elaine (Elaine after my mom)
Meredith Elaine

Boys:

Ellis ??
Eli Christopher

dh likes Eli and Meredith, but I'm really holding out for Nadia and Ellis! I just love to go through names, I've already been through one book!

BCMama- you are so close to your :1000: post!!!!! :bouncy
I just love OCEAN!!! that has been on my list for middle names. the ocean is my favorite place to be on this earth and floating on the waves is a birthing visualization for me, with ds birth I was held by the salt water, I could feel it, smell it :throb .
lots of wonderful names mamas!!!

ok ...as far as names we have NO BOY NAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! boy names are so hard for us
we do have one girls name thta dh is stuck to like glue which I love as well.
if this wee one is a gilr we are quite sure her name will be Violet, as loong as it fits once shes in arms :throb . we have not settled on a middle name, it will be a family name and we have many possibblilities
actually Violet has been with us as a name since before ds. we hadd a VERY HARD time naming ds until dd actually named him. dd has been named as long as I can remember. she is named after my beloved grandmother
dh and I have VERY different tastes I tend to prefer very old, classic, nature, different without stretchiong, forgotten names and he likes David and Eric :lol . Well wee one will eventually be named.
any suggestionS ??? maybe I'll start another thread for suggestions :lol

LOL, so true about boy names. I had a long list of girl anmes and then when my son was born, I was stunned, as in "What do you mean my daughter has a penis?"

For me it's the old association thing. It can't be anyone I dated or who was a jerk in high school. That right there seriously limited the name pool.

Oh goodness Ary I am totally with you on the name association thing :nod . In my former life :lol as in Before Mamahood, I was a teacher and talk about name association :lol . that really puts the 'umm... nope!' on quite a few potentially wonderful names :lol :bouncy

Ary and mamabear - I'm the same way - name association kills all hope for a long lists of names. Plus, dh and I differ on taste of names. I like old, classic names (Hannah, Ella, Mabel, Clara, etc) Dh really doesn't, though he did agree on Owen for ds. Dh likes, ummm, the "Jennifers" of today. So, he loves Aidan for a boy - I just prefer to stay away from the popular names - I want my dc's to have no one else in their class with the same name.

For a girl, PATIENCE

For a boy, ZANE

both family names, I just KNOW it's another girl though :love

zimmee

For a girl, LILY GRACE

For a boy, MASON THOMAS

Lillian was my great grandmother's name and I have had it picked out since I was a little girl, luckily dh agrees. I changed it to Lily to update it. Mason is that same ggmother's maiden name and Thomas is my dad's name.

We named DS Garrett Daniel. Daniel is a family name on dh's side.

Zimmee~ our dd is Lilyanna, it's a cross between my grandmother's Lillian & Anna. I always knew I wanted to name a dd after Lillian, she's an amazing woman... we thought of Lilya, too... but I wanted to honor my other grandmother whom I loved very much, but didn't know very well because she died when I was still pretty young.

If it's a boy~ Harvey Jasper... Harvey is a family name, and the name of one of my favorite movies of all time. And Jasper is just a cool name, IMO... and coincidentally the old guy on the Simpsons.

It must be a girl, we have no ideas there for a name.

we've had a girl name for a while too. Evelyne - that was my husband's mother's name. She passed away in a car wreck in France when he was 12 years old. I would be honored to name a little girl after her.

As for a boy, we are debating. My husband wants to name a boy Matis (My husband is French, so he pronounces it like: Matisse). Other names we are considering: Solomon (Sol), Valentin (Val), Lucien (Luc - Luke).

I am thinking Patrick Dennis for a boy--Patrick after my grandpa, Dennis for DH's dad. I am not set on that middle name though.

I like to use family names, but I can't stand all my family's names for girls (except Elizabeth, and that's DD's name!) Angela, Patricia, Pamela, Audrey...a lot of names I'm not crazy about. My mom is Italian, so all the names on her side are Helena and Irina--pretty, but we just want a simple traditional name. My sister is Maria, which I think is lovely, but I'd rather it as a middle name than a first.

So we'll see...I guess I have plenty of time! DH doesn't really get into names...I think so long as I don't pick something he hates, he'll go along with it!

I agree with those who have said that interesting boy names seem harder to come by.

Right now the top contenders are Vivian for a girl and Zephyr for a boy.

No names picked out for us yet - we haven't even talked about it, lol! When I was pg with dd we had Samuel Thomas picked for a boy, but now dh says he doesn't like it.....and for both boy's, we had Hannah Mary for a girl, but Hannah has become so popular I'm not sure.....we have plenty of time to decide though :-)

in october i decided that we weren't getting pregnant b/c we hadn't picked out a boy's name yet. so we settled upon earnest until we can think of something better. i like the meaning of earnest, but it might be too old fashioned for me.

we also like the name ananda. it means joy.

mamabear: dh wants to name a girl violet too. purple is his favorite color. it may be too similar to the word violent for me. or maybe i could let go of it.

12-15-2005, 04:37 PM
LOL, Ursula, my grandmother's was Elizabeth Violet and her kids would "slip" and call her Lizzie Violence.

I actually think it's a beautiful name and am considering it as a middle if we have a girl.

Okay despite my jenniferness I LOVE aidan.. I think it was sex in the city that did it for me, John Corbett :yum

Ya know when dh was lobbying for Violet the last time- dc #2 ended up as ds :lol . I had it alwys in the back of my head that Violet is 1 LETTER AWAY from violent. And sound similar and all the accents are in the same places ykwim? Even though I do love the name I have a hard time getting past that. Dh so has his heart set oin it though. We'll see. She may not be a Violet once shes here :down .
With ds I was set on Ezra for months, in fact he was named Ezra for quite awile and when I was about 7 months dh and I were talking and he felt he didnt want it at all for his name. Alas dd named ds and his name is not Ezra :lol . This time howecver, I cannot get the name out of my head, and though ds could in no way be any name but what he is I really, really want to name this little one Ezra if babe is a boy.
Dh and I discussed names again last night. He knows my attraction to "Ezra" and he came up with Sky. We are thinking Ezra Sky. His uncle who passed several yrs ago was nicknamed Sky so that would be meaningful to his family.
so right now we're rolling
Ezra Sky
around in our mouths and hearts :love .

I'm loving the ideas here!

Ezra Sky is ... dreamy.

Zephyr sounds so exciting... it reminds me of the train from Chicago to San Francisco, which was one of the most exciting moments in my life.

Purple fan here too-I really like Violet, I hadn't put it with violent for some reason until it was mentioned. Now I don't know that I could stop the association.

But Ananda, that is so beautiful... made me :happyt: again... I've got to stop that!

Olive

We've had them for a long time. The deal was: I get to pick the first boy's name, and my husband get's to pick the first girl's name, and then we switch. So we've had to boys, so now he chooses the girl and I choose the boy.

girl: Maia Anne
boy: Nathan Michael or Martin (can't decide on the middle name, and suggestions which sounds better?)

:lol...I feel so boring compared to some of your beautiful names here! We like family names. So we are thinking Patrick Dennis for a boy, after my grandpa and DH's dad, and Katherine Patricia for a girl, after DH's grandma and my favorite aunt. But at the moment we are still at the thinking stage...neither of those are set in stone yet. I'm pretty sure on the first names though...I wanted DD to be Patrick if she was a boy, and I *love* the name Katherine. Pretty and kind of different since it's not one of the super popular names right now.

Girl:

Great ideas everyone!

We have almost used up all of our favorite names as all but one of our children have at least two middle names .We finally decided on:

Rachael London Madison ,for a girl
and...
Benjamin Daniel Josiah , for a boy
I dont really like Madison but it is dh's turn to name the baby so I guess I'll get used to it :)

I have a hard time thinking of names until I know the gender. Once we get those results (around 5 months?) we'll go to the family trees and pick something old. Lulu's named after my greatgrandma.

We actually have the name of the first woman and man in our family to come to America (in the 1600's): Isabella and Petrus (as in Peter). Then the names get really funky :nut : Temprence, Joziah and later, Hildegaard! :p

My husband actually is suggesting naming the baby (if she's a girl) after our Newfoundland dog who died this spring. She was an important member of our family -- the spark, the glue, believe it or not. But I just can't see doing that. My dog has such a singular part of my memory and heart, it would be confusing to have a child named after her. You know? Still, I thought my husband was sweet for suggesting it.

(Hey, we would have an LL Bean monogrammed dog bed for the baby all ready down in the basement!! :lol )

Girls names are hard. My DH doesn't like any that I've chosen:

Aida
Ava
Clara
Elise
Elsie
Evelyn (Evie)
Hazel
Isabel
Julia
Norah
Phoebe
Sophia

He said he'd think about them...

DH really likes Gabriel for a boy, but I really like Gage. I guess we have time!
