FINALLY!!!!!!!!
i'm sorry it took me so long to update everybody...I didn't bring my laptop with me! DOH!!!
Anyway...we went in to TBC yesterday and got there at around 2ish...by 2:15 my contractions were SERIOUSLY kicking into high gear. needed massive help to get through them already...best feeling position: put the big birthing ball on top of the bed, and lean into it like you'd hang onto a big kickboard or something...just draped my whole torso over it...and Dave pushed down on my lower back and butt, doing long strong sweeping movements.
ok...so...they checked me at around 3:30 and i was at 3cm...more strong contractions and by around 4:30pm i was already 5cm. so i was able to get in the tub. i stayed in the jacuzzi until around 5:45 or so and got checked again on the bed. i was 8cm! omg! after a few more contractions, i hit transition. holy mother of god. i'll wait until everybody has delivered to talk about *that*. :lol anyway, i went from 8-10cm in about 20 minutes and then as she was checking me and i was pleading with her to stop, i had to push. just...*HAD* to push. so i did. and she was out in 2 contractions!
so here are the stats:
real active labor starts: 2:15
Ava was born: 6:16pm
Weight: 7lb 15oz
Length: 22 1/2" (OMG!!!)
ladies, i won't lie...it was hard for me to get through the contractions at the end. transition was...well...yeah. but the pushing...felt so great...and it is WORTH IT. because the millisecond that Ava was out, i felt like a MILLION bucks. no pain...no lethargy...no out-of-it-ness...no stupor...no nothing.
i got two tiny tears (one on top, one on bottom) that required one stitch each, but my entire crotch area doesn't hurt!!! the only thing that really hurts is my back and ribs...because of all of those primal noises i was making and the pushing...oh, and the afterbirth pains...yeah, those suck...but other than that, i'm feeling fabulous!!!!
we're at home now (obviously) and just hanging out with Rowan while he plays with the trains that Ava bought him *winkwink*...Ava's sleeping in her carseat...we'll all take a nap soon.
oh, and about Ava - nursing like a CHAMP! omg it's incredible! she wanted to nurse about 5 seconds after being born. :lol she's nursed a million times and sleeps sooo much. slept all night practically...:lol she's very mellow but can be loud when she wants to be. LOL
Rowan has been mostly ignoring her until a few moments ago when he just went right up to her and said. Hey! Baby! :lol
i'm in love...i'll be back later with pics! she looks EXACTLY like Rowan. spitting image. creepy they're so similar. :lol
