View Full Version : Anyone else's pants getting tight?

DH swears I'm just bloated and have gas (pleasant thought, thanks :lol ) but I now have one pair of pants that won't button, and an elastic waist pair that is now too uncomfortable at my waist, so I'm wearing it down around my hips.
Am I nuts? I'm also starving to death all.day.long, which may be the answer to why my pants are tight! :lol

rebeccalizzie - yep, I feel that way too. I have one pair of pants that were LOOSE before BFP and now they fit perfectly. Another pair that fit perfectly and I'm, umm, having to suck in to get them zipped. How can this be already?

With my first dc my pants stopped buttoning at around 3 or 4 WEEKS! My hips turned out really early for some reason, and nothing fit LONG before I looked pregnant. This time around though, everything still fits at 6 weeks.....

Phew, at least I'm not *totally* crazy (well, yeah I am, but not about this :nut )
I figured I'd show a *little* sooner this time, since I'm older and this is my second child, but sheesh! I could wear my regular clothes for at least the first trimester with DD! And it's been 10 years since I had her, so it's not like my muscles haven't recovered by now :lol

Yeah I wore my regular clothes for at least 5 months last time.
Anyone know good places to get maternity bathing suits?

Oh ugh, I don't even want to think about having to wear a maternity bathing suit. I think I'll just stay out of the pool this summer (which isn't hard for me--I don't particularly like to swim, so I only do it once in a *very* great while)

Not tight exactly, but I'm really not tolerating tight waistbands any more. I keep finding myself sliding the waistband of my undies under my tummy, too. :lol
Swimsuits - I bit the bullet and paid the money at Nordstroms.com last year. I REALLY insisted on a sexy swimsuit - no floucy skirts for me! The one I got is a straight maillot style, with a great neckline that shows off my cleavage. I figure if I'm going to look like a beached whale, I'm going to look like a GIRL whale, at least! :lol

I can't go long without swimming in a pool or a lake. I'm debating getting a bikini to give my belly some sun.

Well I'm only 5 weeks 4 days so everything is cool still here. Last time I didn't break out the maternity clothes till 22 weeks so hopefully I last awhile this time too.

I got my suit at Motherhood Maternity and it's actually not that bad, fir me through the entire pregnancy and was a 2 piece (but it covered my belly.) Most likely, I'll use it again this time.
I can relate to the op. My pants started feeling tight b/f I was even preggers (putting on my winter weight)...and now I literally have 2 pairs I can wear.
No maternity clothes till 5 months!!! Even w/ my first, I was in 'em by 3. And transitional clothes long before that.

I'm at 6wks3ds and I've lost a couple of pounds, yet my pants are extremely uncomfortable around the waist. I was wearing regular clothes up til 6 mo last pregnancy. Not gonna happen this time! I've been living in dh's pj pants and just throwing on jeans when i have to leave the house. Right after Christmas I am treating myself to a pair of real-waisted, low-cut maternity jeans.

Put on my black holiday pants today and wowee. I am not sure they'll still fit at Christmas, which is only 8 days away :dropjaw
I am in DH's sweatpants right now and loving it :)

I was talking about this thread to my mom today (by the way, does anyone else have parents who think message boards are weird? My mom absolutely cannot believe that I actually am in a group of women who are all due the same month. Where *else* can i get a group of women going through the pg stages the same time I am? :lol ) Anyway, she has decided I'm "imagining" my pants being tight. Okayyyy....I'm down another pair, and they are slightly low waisted with spandex in them! I haven't gained weight, but my waist is about an inch and a half bigger--just big enough to make my pants uncomfortable. I'm leaving my top button undone a LOT these past few days! I'm in a pair of silk pajama pants with a thin elastic waist now...heaven!
I did just remember...when I was pg with DD, the way I figured out I was pg is that my favorite jeans wouldn't button. I am *always* the same size...except when I was pg. So now that I think of it, I lost my waist early with her too, and I was 10 years younger then! So I'll be lucky to stay out of maternity clothes for another month. I'm hoping my belly huggers and maybe a pair of transition pants will get me through.

Mine are tight too, I've been wearing my yoga pants around town lately! I'm kind of concerned because I didn't need maternity clothes until at least 7 months during my last pregnancy. I'm a lot healthier now though and am eating much more than I did last time. Glad to know that I'm not alone here. :D

Wow! 7 months? I'm impressed! And jealous. You wanna see what I looked like at 7 months last time (29 weeks, to be exact)?

:wave joining the tight pants club, here. I was just thinking I ought to go ahead and pull out the maternity clothes and dig out the transitional stuff. Sweatpants only go so far...
As for the bathing suit thing - I have 2 - both 2 peice (one is a tankini style that ended up riding up my belly toward the end of dd's time in there!) and they are "ok". My last child was born July 31 and I spent a lot of time in an inflatable baby pool (was 2- 3 feet deep) in the last month. DH got it for me because I was so miserable and NC in summer is just unbearable. I am thinking we may be pulling that pool out again! :lol

With baby #1 my pants weren't tight until 15 weeks. Baby #2, I think it was somewhere between 6-8 weeks (but I was only 6 months postpartum, so wht can you expect). This time my jeans are tad tighter already, but they still fit. I've never gained more than 1 pound during my first trimester. It is usually just bloating in the beginning. My clothes usually go BACK to fitting for a few weeks before the baby belly begins to cause tightness.
Unfortunately, I'll also have to be shopping for a new bathing suit. We had made plans to go to Hawaii in March before this baby happened. It'll be that "fat" looking stage, instead of a big prego belly though. How embarassing! But there's no way I'm going to Hawaii and not swimming!!

Oh I'm glad you said that! My pants fit better yesterday and today than they have for the past week or so, and I was wondering what the heck was up! :lol However...I am usually pretty slim, and I definitely have the beginnings of a belly. So I think I'll be in transitional clothing in a few weeks.

Pants were a little snug to begin with but some are clearly too tight now. I'm wearing a lot of elastic waist sweats and a pair of jeans that are one size too big. Dh doesn't want to tell anyone until sometime in January, and he looked at me the other day and asked if I was going to be able to hide it until then. Um, no, and can we just let the cat out of the bag please so I don't have to pretend I feel good while visiting your family for 5 days at Christmas?
Sorry for the off-tangent vent there ...

oh! I love wearing a bathing suit pregnant! I wear a bikini top with shorts. I love it! Normally wouldn't be caught dead ni a bikini.

Oh, thank y'all! I was starting to feel like an overstuffed sausage myself, and i'm so glad to hear that it's normal, or at least shared. I've been sitting behind my desk all day with my top button undone, feeling pudgy, even though the scale says the same derned thing it always says. Bloat or baby-- either way, it's just more progress.
I bought the most comfy pair of corduroys the other day at Kohl's-- they have that low-rider style that the kids are wearing these days, and it's just phenomenal. Ahhhhh. Relief.

Today I bit the bullet and went to Motherhood and bought those things that extend your waistbands...oh my gosh this is the most comfortable any of my pants have been in a week. Totally overpriced, I should have looked for a set used, but worth it.

rebeccalizzie, I could've written some of your posts! I've a 9 y.o. ds and -- surprise! -- I'm pregnant. I immediately lost my waist, and I'm just horrified that I already have to wear maternity pants. I thought maybe I was less willing to be uncomfortable than I was 10 years ago, but I really think that's it just that my body immediately declared defeat. :)

Same here!
My jeans are tight. I at first thought it was that tight feeling when they come out of the dryer. We went last minute errand running last night and after a while in the car i had to unbutton my pants. :lol Everytime i had to get out and run in somewhere i had to suck in and button them. not much left to suck in. :lol
I am sure a lot is bloating, but i am not sure if the bloating will go away before the real baby belly starts.
SOOO not looking forward to maternity pants. yuck. :lol
:)

I am eating all the time, like 5 small healthy meals a day, and I'm usually SUCH a light eater. I feel extremely bloated and am trying to hide it with big sweaters. ("No family, I'm not pregnant... it's just really cold outside... :blush ) I'm 5'6" and usually 125 and the scale say 127. I'm only 6 weeks but at this rate...

I started unbuttoning levi's at 5 weeks, had to finally buy one pair of pants at 6 weeks. It started with baby #3, getting "thick" so early, I was convinced I was pg with twins. I've finally come to the conclusion that after being pg so many times my body just knows what to do and as soon as it realizes it has to get big for a baby it just lets loose! LOL
I did finally get another pair of pants for Christmas so now I have two pairs to wear. I have to figure out who I lent my maternity clothes to so I can have more to wear! I didn't have any intention of getting pg again so I've given a lot of stuff away. :nut :blah

I'm just 7 weeks today and since I'm still at a high-risk of miscarriage I would prefer not to have a neon sign pointing at my non-existent waistline!! Even though my daughter was born 11 long years ago, my body seems to remember this shape like it was yesterday!
