:help
I am looking for an ap/alternative parenting list specifically for raising daughters. I am on one currently but it is not AP and is very mainstream (no homeschoolers, etc.) If you know of one, please let me know. If not, I am going to start one, so let me know if you are interested in one. TIA

I am interested as I now have a 2yr old girl after having all boys. Could someone tell me what is involved in an e-mail list and how it works. I've heard of them but have never been on one.

Michelle-
What a great idea! I have looking for things to read to help my daughter, now 10 months, develop a strong sense of self so that she doesn't struggle as much with the pressures our society places on women these days. As much as I would love to be able to shelter her forever from these influences, I know that I cannot.
Thanks for starting this group! Please PM me with info.

I have creasted Raising Strong Daughters Naturally (RSDN@nurtured.com). Here is the description. Information on signing up follows.
"This is a forum for all parents regardless of race and religion interested in raising their daughters to be strong, confident women. We will discuss issues of health, education, spirituality (patriarchal and matriarchal), discipline, self-esteem, etc. Men joining should be prepared for detailed discussions about menstruation, sexuality, etc. The presence of men will not inhibit these discussions. You should practice attachment parenting to some degree. You should be prepared to raise your daughter to break stereotypical molds currently set for women in our society. If you are interested in keeping girls in stereotypical "traditional" roles and not raising them to choose these paths on their own, you need not join. The purpose of this list is to develop strong daughters capable of choosing any path they desire in life."

I'M INTERESTED!!
I don't have any kids yet and don't know if I'll ever have a daughter (may be blessed with many boys, who knows...)
No matter, I think about what it would be like to raise a strong daughter alot. I would love to be on this email list to sort of glean some ideas off of you ladies and maybe even offer a few of my own. Hey I am a strong daughter myself, if I do say so myself. ;)

Have you thought of creating a Moms of Girls thread in Finding Your tribe?
Might be easier than setting up an email group, since we're already here :D
mpeel

The instructions for joining the group are on the first page of the thread. Or, send a blank email message to rsdn-request@nurtured.com with subscribe as the subject.
I did not do a thread as I do no have time to daily surf the message boards here. I run a business and homeschool. If it does not come to my email box, I may not to it for days.
Thanks.

Signed up already.
Kind of like the idea of a list better than another thread that will disappear in a few weeks when we're all played out ...
Thanks -

I have 2 older boys, ages 9 and 4, so all this girl stuff is new to me. Any my way of parenting is totally different from the way I was raised. I would love it. I just moved and tried starting my own yahoo group locally but have had no luck.

Sounds like a great idea. There have been threads about raising sons in FYT..I dont know why we haven't had one about daughters. I have a 2 year old dd.
You can always request a thread be archived so it isn't deleted.
