I had to share.
I had a class at the OBs the other day - it was called "what to expect" and MAN, it sure was thorough! We went over everything from hospital registration to what to expect throughout labor and delivery. I think the thing that made me so happy was that some of the stuff that I have on my birth plan is actually pretty much assumed by my docs. (baby goes immediately on mama and gets time to nurse before weighing, babies stay with mama with the option to go to the nursery, there are birth balls and rockers in the room to labor with, etc) This made me so much more comfortable with my doc choice. Not that I was uncomfortable, I've just heard so many bad things about peoples experience with doctors from people here and stuff that wasn't necessarily bad, but stuff I wouldn't want for myself from friends.
I could go on about all the good info stuffed into my head but I would just bore ya'll ;)

I'm really, really glad you got a good feeling from your OB and hospital. That's a good place to start, and feeling comfortable is sooooo important.

It IS nice when you hear the policies of certain hospitals and realize that they're actually baby-and-mom centered....that nursing is more important than filling out the "official" data, that the hospital would prefer the babies room-in rather than go to the nursery, that the hospital thinks women should have more than just a couple birthing/labor positions....

Their policy leanings coupled with your birth plan, your birth knowledge, and your personal beliefs will really help guide you in the direction of the birth you want. Good stuff! :thumb
