I can't recall exactly the first time I felt my baby move with my first pregnancy, but I think it was in the middle of the 4th month..or somewhere around 16 weeks.
I'm just 8 weeks now and for a week I've been feeling these "bonks" in the exact same place, just below my belly button. It's ridiculous to think that I can feel the baby "bonking" around - no? At first I thought it was just my digestive tract, but after feeling it so often in the exact same place....I'm starting to wonder.....
I know that fetal movement is usually felt earlier in 2nd pregnancies, but isn't 8 weeks a little too early?

It's possible it's gas or like you said your digestive tract. I don't think it's likely to be your baby at 8 weeks, unless you're further along then you thought :)

I agree with that. I did feel earlier with #2, but it was still like 16 weeks or so for me. 1st was 20 weeks.

i do know of people who have felt the baby move as eary as nine weeks, but you wouldnt feel it by your belly button- the baby is still next to your pubic bone at this point, so you would feel it really low.

I felt first movements with my ds at 14w6d. I thought it was waaaaay too early and it was rather annoying...it just just a lil tap like something was *bonking* ;) around in there. in the exact same place. I'm hoping to feel movement at christmas that would be lovely but so far nothing.

I am 11 weeks pregnant with baby #4 and I'm sure I've been feeling the baby move for several days now. The feeling is unmistakeable and just like I felt with the last 3, only several weeks earlier. It's just above my pubic bone and a little to the left of the center. This is a blessing to us because we lost a baby at 11 weeks preg last year, so I've been a little stressed lately. I have heard you feel them earlier after you've had a few. 8 weeks still seems a little early, but maybe your dates are off?

Congrats Jami!

I've had this distinct feeling a few times in the last couple days. I'm telling myself that it was just imagined because I'm only 12w5d and its too early yet for a first timer to feel anything.

Holy cow - I was pretty sure I'd felt some movement for a couple weeks, but now I'm sure. I just ate a handful of Jelly Bellies and this little bug is wiggling like crazy - there's no mistaking it. YAY!

Sour Jelly Bellies, ladies. Give it a try. ;)

I have a uterus that is tilted backward. I won't feel anything till after 16 weeks except gas and intestinal rumblings.

benjalo- I had a dream the other night that I got a bag of jelly bellies in the mail. I was soo excited because then I thought I would feel the baby move if I ate them. (In a non-dream state I HATE jelly beans....or else I'd go try it out!)

mine is tilted backwards too. however i'm super skinny so maybe that's why I felt my babies so early. or maybe its not tilted very far. or maybe my ob lied to me. good luck for feeling your lil one!!

Well, I'm sure you'll be feeling the baby soon enough anyway!

Fwiw, I can't stand any normal jelly beans at all. ICK. JBs are totally better.

I had heard that from a lot of people. I don't like jelly beans either.

Jami, I'm skinny too, but my uterus is tilted back far enough that from about week 14 through 17 or so I will have big urination problems. If I stay in the same position for more than about two hours, my uterus settles extra comfortably back and on my urethra, cutting off my ability to pee. While this isn't a problem during the day, it makes the nighttime a bit frustrating. I almost had to go to the ER and get cathaterized twice last pregnancy. I didn't have it with my first, had it with the second, and it was even worse last pregnancy. I'm just waiting for it to start. That means that I have to drink 16 oz of water before I go to sleep so I will wake up in under 2 hours to pee, then everytime I pee I have to drink another 16 oz so I'll wake up again. It sucks. It beats the costly alternative. Last time there was one night that it took me more than an hour to be able to pee, I had one leg in pants ready to head to the ER when I was able to push (and I'm talking serious labor type pushing here) out drops of pee in a couple pushes. I decided to lay down for a couple minutes, then ten minutes later I decided to try it again and was able to get the rest out no problem.

Then, at about the middle of the 17th week it sort of all comes together and I can tell that my uterus has moved up and out of my pelvis. In the course of about two days I will start to feel movement and the peeing issue will suddenly resolve itself and I can get some sleep again.

Frankly, I have no issue with not being able to feel early movement. I'm so short waisted that by the end of the second trimester I am so crowded that movement physically hurts and I start to appreciate the times they aren't moving. :lol
