I've been doing some research and it seems that in 5 years since my last one was born, a lot has changed!! LOL Seems like Fuzzi Bunz are the way to go! Am I right? Anyone use them? Where's the cheapest place to order them?
TIA!

I still love using prefold diapers with motherease covers--works for me and it is inexpensive!

That's what I used with my other three! Well, actually I used a different cover for the first one until I discovered the Motherease cover. Nearly everything needs to be replaced after all the washings and wearings of this family! Maybe I'll just go with what worked last time.

I would NOT do just Fuzzi Bunz....I prefer my prefolds and occasional fitteds. We had a few Fuzzi Bunz, but to be honest for wht I paid for them I was not impressed. With a fitted or a prefold with a cover over it you are only soiling what is up against the butt every time you change. I always appretiated being able to air out covers between changes rather then throwing EVERYTHING in the wash...with the FuzziBunz you are washing the shell and the stuffing everytime so it increased wash for me. Am I making any sense??? Fuzzi Bunz were good for sitters, daycare, or the occasional diaper my mom changed because they were simple, but past that....not worth it....JMO.

I prefer prefolds and wool wraps for much the same reasons as Alicia. I only ever had one Fuzzibunz, and really didn't like it all that much, but I had a friend who used them solely, and loved them, so YMMV. This is what I used and will use again wraps (http://www.babybunz.com/shopping/category.php?mode=index&catid=1) and dipes (http://www.barefootbaby.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BBON&variation=INFT&aitem=4&mitem=12). I dyed the wool wraps with koolaid, so they are extra exciting.

Well I'm novice as this will be my first cloth baby but my newborn stash consists of 18 prefolds with 4 bsww and 2 proraps, 12 kissaluv 0s and 6 fuzzibunz smalls. I also have a few small very baby aios but I didn't go with the newborn so I'll have to wait a bit to use those. I am curious to see what I like best and what I continue using. I do wonder if I need more covers?

I have never cloth-diapered before, but I am very interested. With research, I decided I want to use Kissaluvs fitteds with Bummi super-snap diaper covers. I also put on my list Kissaluvs boosters and super-soakers to reinforce the diapers' effectiveness.
If anyone has an opinion (good or bad) about my choices, please respond! Thanks!

micky your newborn stash sounds good. i found 6 covers was more than enough.
my favorite diapers are motherease sandy's, and my favorite covers are motherease airflows. i've got a few onesize diapers coming in the mail too, maybe i will like those better this time around. i had a whole stash of them for ds when he was born but i sold them too early. i barely used them and decided they were too big when he was still small LOL so here i am again, buying more..
oh well. it's fun to shop for dipes. i especially like motherease since they are canadian and shipping is a flat rate of $3 for courier service! if I order on tuesday night i have my order in my hands on friday morning.

IME bummis covers wick like there's no tomorrow... i sold mine, even though the froggy and star prints were really cute. even the inside of the cover would be wet after one use and hold onto moisture/odor

I used cpf with the bummis whisper wraps for dd and never really had any problems. Haven't used much else so can't really compare/contrast. I looked at some fuzzi bunz at one point but it seemed like a lot of wash to me for the same reasons as mentioned above. In the research I have done (not extensive at all) there were people who loved most every kind out there for some reason, and people who hated the same brands. I think diapers are defiantly a personal choice. Try a few out see what you like, then get more of those for bigger sizes.

I got rid of all my cloth diapers after my daughter because we weren't going to have anymore. Well we changed our minds so I'm starting from scratch. We don't have a lot of money so we decided to go with one size dipes. I've heard the Muttaqins are the best and I can see why. I have bought 20 from people on the Trading post and they fold so tiny. I also have 9 Sammy's One Size so I think I am pretty much set. I am going to use Dappi Nylon pull-on covers (I'm going to dye them so they are more exciting).
I used Fuzzi Bunz with my daughter from 9 months to over 2 years and she was MUCH harder to potty train than my son who was in Mother-Ease and prefolds. He was fully trained by 2.5 but she was almost 3 and I think it was because she never felt wet in the Fuzzi Bunz so there was no incentive to get out of them. I am not using them again for the reason but I will use fleece liners for nap and night times.

For DS, we had a diaper service, but DH and I were so inept at diaper changing that he really wanted to try sposies for a while. Then, when we started again we used aios mostly with a few prefolds. For this one, I got a bunch of prefolds and random covers (bummis, etc) from freecycle and bought a ton of small sandies with motherease covers and then kissaluvs in the next size up. With the kissaluvs, we'll have my aio stash.

I am a wahm...so biased...but here is my .02:
I don't like pockets or fuzzi bunz etc. for newborns because 1) you need so many it's expensive and 2) they just don't contain the breastmilk poop as well
My favorite for those who are prefold challenged (me, I admit it!) is fitteds. The kissaluvs 0's fit great and are my favorite newborn dipe but the larger sizes just don't have the absorbency for a lot of babies. Most people use the newborn size but move on to hemp or other quick dry cotton fitteds after they outgrow the 0's.
My favorite cover with fitteds is by far the motherease airflow. That was the ONLY cover that wouldn't leak overnight (if you don't want to do wool)
I like pockets and AIOs after about 6 months or whenever the poop gets a little more solid and they aren't peeing quite as much.
My newborn stash consists of
about 15 kissaluvs 0's
about 20 fitted diapers I made myself in a variety of fabrics--organic velour, organic fleece, sherpa, hemp etc.
About 4-5 AIOs/pockets for quick changes (I made myself)
2 fuzzi bunz (loaners)
6 preemie prefolds
3 newborn wool soakers (1 I made and 2 loaners)
1 newborn merino longies
1 organic wool pants (I made)
2 bumpy wool wraps
about 6-8 assorted covers: motherease AF, nikky wool, nikky cotton, proraps, bummis SWW, stacinator fleece, other stuff people have lent me.
I probably have more than I need...so don't use me as an example!!

With dd we did diaper service for a couple months and I really didn't like the Motherease FITTED diaper covers (different from the airflows) with a prefold. We had a couple Nikky's that were better; this time I've ordered a couple of Bummis SWW and a couple of Bumpy's, plus a couple others to try out.
After that I went to Motherease OneSize, b/c I liked the economical nature (same dipe used from infant through potty training). The problem is that they're sooooo big and bulky on small babies, clothes fitting is a real problem....so this time I'm thinking of doing diaper service longer, like 6 months. My OneSize are in great shape after 1 child. I've also had some Sandy's and love them. They're super absorbent and so cute! Bumkins AIO's were not my favorite, they leaked a lot on my dd. So I'd research a different AIO if I had it to do over.
I love baby dipes! They're just so sweet. :love

I have several, over 2 dozen prefolds, most are the Chinese prefolds. I have a few of the gerber birdseye that I used on my last one left. I have bummis SWW, Bummis Supersnap covers. I have about 5 Kushies AIO's too. I had just ONE I used on my last cd'er and I liked it very much on him so I bought some of those on ebay. I have some Kissaluvs fitteds size 1's and Kissaluvs contours too. I have big babies so it made me too nervous to buy newborn sizes of anything. My prefolds are newborn and regualr sizes. It's actually quite a mix :lol I think from all the info out there I may break down and buy some Kissaluvs size 0 closer to the baby's birth( I say closer because we have no money for that right now and I might have to wait till when she is born). Maybe off ebay or something because I have no idea how big she will be and how fast she will grow.
I didn't CD my oldest and my 2nd was only in them part time for a while so this is all pretty new to me too!!

Have you tried adding the Kissaluvs Booster or Kissaluvs Super-Soaker to increase the absorbancy of the Kissaluvs fitteds after size 0? I am curious if that could increase the absorbancy enough.

The kissaluvs boosters aren't much help--they're really quite small. Haven't tried the super soakers though.
If you were to get some fleece topped hemp doublers that ought to do the trick. I have a bunch of size 1 kissaluvs and I plan to do that with them...so I'll let you know!!! I was just adding my .02 for those who haven't already invested in bigger diapers ;)
