Hi! I made liquid laundry soap for the first time last night using this recipe:

I just have a couple questions: How much do you use for each load? Is it necessary to use warm or hot water to wash or will cold work fine? I did a load of whites this morning using hot water and the soap and a vinegar rinse. I think I put too much soap in so I did an extra plain water rinse. My clothes smell wonderful and clean :) I had been using Seventh Generation and I am excited about saving the $$.

:lurk:
I'd like to know about the cold water too.
I just started using cold on everything but diapers. I use Method laundry, but that recipe looks great, and I'm sure much less $$

Have you tried it in cold yet?

I tried our sheets in cold and they seemed clean to me so I guess it works! Now the real test will be washing DH's stinky shirts in the cold water. If the soap works for that it will work for anything!

Okay, I take that back. I washed some shirts today on cold with the soap and they still smelled like armpits. Back to the drawing board. Maybe I am not using enough soap or the soap is not concentrated enough.

Anyone??

I just made some wed., the first load I did I used cold, wasn't too impressed. I tried the next load with warm/cold rinse, much better. I love it! I also have been using my own fabric softener-equal parts baking soda and vinegar, with lavender EO (you'll want to mix the fabric softener in a big bucket, lots of fizzies). I was using cold water because of the gas bills this winter, but I figure with the money I'm saving making laundry soap at 1.75 a gal., I can afford to use warm water.
