hi mamas!
we are going for our level two u/s tomorrow. I decided I did not want the AFP (triple screen) test because I would never agree to an amnio, so I decided I would have the level II u/s.
My question is to those who have had one, were you nervous? Was it like a regular u/s that just lasted longer? Also, do they talk to you as they look at the screen and somewhat explain things to you?
thanks!!

I was only nervous in the sense that I wanted everything to be okay. They put some gel on your belly and then just "wand" over it. I think whether they say anything depends a lot on the practice. The actual perinatologist (not a tech) did most of mine, so she would say, "there's the heart with the four chambers; now I'm measuring the head; the brain looks great..." etc. I think oftentimes b/c of liability, the techs are not really allowed to say much. (A doctor reviews the measurements and notes later.)

It's really fun to see your little one moving around inside you. Enjoy it!

ETA: Mine was probably 20 minutes or so.

I had mine (for the same reason as you) on last wednesday. I was nervous to an extent, but got over it quickly. It was about 30 minutes long. You can see a touch more detail than you can on the regular u/s, but the process is identicle...*you* don't do anything different. It was very interesting, at one point the tech turned on a feature where we could see the different arteries functioning (red and blue to identify the flow). I'm glad I did it, and I get cooperation points from my doc for going to it. :lol A doctor came in at the end and double checked everything and told us the different markers she was looking for (and that everything was fine) and encouraged us lightly to come back for a heart flow test (no) and another c/s at 32 weeks (undecided).

I know it's hard not to be nervous, but at least with this "test" you get the results right away. Good luck to you.

Yes, ours was like the pps too. It was performed by a tech, w/the specialists viewing the screen from the other room. :rolleyes The tech told us nothing. Then the doctor came in & reviewed the findings w/us. (All was well.)

I was nervous, bc they made such a big deal of me having a level 2. But I was very relieved once it was completed. It is nice to have all the results then & there.

I'm a worry wort by nature, so I was a nervous wreck. The tech didn't say anything to us, except "The doctor will review the results with you" which, in my neurotic mind translated into "The doctor will come in here to give you devastating news, because they don't pay me enough to do stuff like that" :lol It turned out everything was fine, I just hate when they can't tell you "It's fine, just relax!" :lol
