I know I'm not around much, but I'll start this thread!
I dont' have much to say, had another episode of bleeding this weekend and am hoping it's the last one.
Went for my 20 week US today, and fortunately my placenta isn't previa.. so it must be a cranky cervix. Baby was measuring perfect so all is well in there.
I think I'm fairly set for baby clothes and dipes, as I have been well gifted from friends and family.. lots of hand me downs, and my MIL is a nut and shops like a fiend.
I'm very much a homebody, if I didn't have to work, I'd stay home all day and stare at the wonder that is my belly. I can see movement fromthe outside now, and feel movement pretty much all day... I love it :)
How are you???

I am 18week3 days.
I have my ultrasound on the 23rd. I have strong feelings in my heart it is boy.We will see soon!
Sometimes I have just can't believe I am really going to be a mom. I have wantd to since I was a little girl I use to make slings out of scarves and carry around my cats,I think they hated me! Some of my friends have a hard time believing I would try to have a baby at 18,but I did. This baby was very planned and very wanted. Not that unplanned babies are not wanted just as much!
I already feel a strong bond with this baby, stronger than anything I have ever felt.Ever inch of who I am already loves this little baby.
I have feel in love with cloth diapers,I think I am a diaper addict. There so cute and little.
I started collecting baby clothed before I was even pregnant.
I sure love this board, now I know why my mom spends so much time here.
May we all have healthy babies,
Kaitlin :throb

Bleeding is scary. I'm sorry you are having to worry about that! Sounds like it's all ok. Somethings with pregnancy just can't be explained.
I had my u/s yesterday. Found out the my placenta is anterior which would explain not feeling movement:( Big bummer. I want to feel it.
Been dealing with a little bit of depression. Probably from looking around this house and wondering how I'm going to give birth in a house that is so messy :lol We have lots of cleaning to do. Toys have taken over our house.
I still need some clothing and a car seat.

I'm just about 20weeks - my placenta is anterior too, but in the past few days I've felt movement quite often (and I'm packing a lot of fat up front too) so don't lose heart - it's probably just a matter of days or a week for you too :) It's by far my favorite part of being pg so I'm glad the time has finally arrived. And it's still sporadic enough that I don't have to freak out if I don't feel it every few hours - yk? It's a very peaceful place to be :love
Hope y'all are well as well. Sorry for the scare chiromama - what a stress that must be!!

That's awesome that you can see the movement from the outside. I can't and I wasn't expecting to be able to for some weeks yet, but now I'll be looking for it.
I'm not doing my U/S until 23 weeks because I want DH to be there (he's in Iraq right now). The mw okay'd me waiting that long. I think it's going to be awesome to see.
Sorry about the bleeding though - scary! You seem to be handling it well, so that must mean it's nothing too serious. Good!

I have inadvertently referred to the baby in conversation as a "he" twice in the last two days. I have no idea where that came from. I get to make an appt. for my U/S tomorrow, so I guess I will know the answer soon. I haven't had any dreams about the baby's gender this time. Last pg I dreamt twice that he was a boy, and that's what he was!
Last night while sitting on the couch, the baby LEAPED in my belly twice in quick succession so hard that it startled me.
Oh, and I have been eating like a machine! :lol

Well...I will be 19 weeks tomorrow & we will be going for the US tomorrow afternoon. Part of me is still freaking out that it might be twins...
1. at my last 2 apts. I have measured large for dates by a few weeks
2. I have been feeling movement since 15 weeks and it is strong - serious kicks & dancing around in there!
3. All of the pregnancy symptoms have been more intense this time.
4. All my dreams have 2 babies! :lol
So...we are trying to psych ourselves up for the possibility that it could be twins...we would be excited, but overwhelmed too.
I'll post what we find out tomorrow night!!

chiromama - Sorry about the bleeding. I have been bleeding on and off throughout this whole pregnancy, as well. However, my situation is a bit different as 2 weeks ago I let them do a pelvic and discovered that my bleeding is caused by a leaky blood vessel that my doc could actually see on the end of my cervix. I have since figured out things to avoid doing (like no more gymnastics with my dds :lol ), and I think I have most of them figured out now because I have been spot-free for 9 days now. It is difficult and stressful, I know. I hope it stops for you soon.
coc4cloth- I didn't feel movement til 22 weeks with dd1 because of the placenta. However, I was too naive to realize that that was a little late, so I wasn't concerned.
I am 18 weeks 5 days and all is well. Feeling movement is great since I am so paranoid about another m/c. I am also starving, I have gained 22 pounds already.
Blessings to all.

I'm at 20 1/2 weeks (will be 21 on Friday) and getting bigger. I've also felt more consistent exterior kicks now, and am hoping that the boys get to feel their baby sister/brother soon. :D Ds#1 is getting fascinated with all the aspects of growing a baby - how does the food get from my stomach again? So, I've been showing him some pictures and telling him about the uterus, umbillical cord, etc. He was too young with his brother was being formed to have realized what was happening. I've asked him if he wanted to be home with us when the baby is born and he's not sure ... he thinks it might be more fun to be with Grandma! :lol
As for me, it's the acid reflux that is just getting worse as I grow. It's really taken off the last week or so, but I had a cold all weekend, which always makes it worse. I think last night I ended up taking 6 Tums before I actually fell asleep. :( It's not like I don't expect ... it got increasingly worse with both boy too. I'm going to ask my mw next week when I see her if she has any recommendations for me (last pregnancy I actually had to take Zantac every day combined with Tums to help control it, and I still ended up vomitting 25% of the time because of it).
Otherwise, we have our u/s next Monday. We aren't finding out gender, but it'll be nice to see the baby and get a gauge for how he/she is doing. :)

I feel so "behind"! I'm only 17 weeks 4 days right now, but it just hit me this morning that I'm "almost" halfway there...unreal.
Been feeling so much better since my thyroid got straightened out and I passed into the 2nd tri - I have so much more energy, no more 1st trimester nausea, etc. My next MW appt is Jan 30, then I'm guessing we'll have the big U/S the week after that or so. Last time I didn't have a clue, but this time, for the past week or so, for some reason I've been getting "girl" feelings and vibes...but I could be totally wrong, so I'm not puting too much faith in it. DH is convinced it's a girl though because this preggo has been the complete opposite of my preggo with DS...I know, real scientific. :wink
Once again, I'm procrastinating and we haven't bought a durn thing yet - I suppose after the ultrasound I'll probably start buying some things, as this babe will be totally off season from DS (born in the dead of winter). One drawback of highly defined seasons, I suppose...
Take care, everyone!!

I'm now 19w2d, and things are good. Have a nasty cold, and didn't feel safe taking medicine. Bleah! I forgot how much colds sucked. But my little monster keeps kicking the heck out of me to let me know she's OK. Still no belly. Where is my dang belly? Nothing fits, so I have no idea where the extra 9 pounds have gone (boobs, apparently). From my belly button to my pubic bone is all hard uterus.
We had the scan on friday, and development looked great. I spotted 3 lines, so I have no doubt she's a girl. I am one of those "are ultrasounds even necessary" people, but it was an amazing experience. Hard not to cry and cry seeing that delicate little spine and the little feet. I think my favorite part was watching the heart beat.
I could just sit with a hand on my belly all day and be totally entertained. My husband is getting into that as well since we figured out he could feel her. We call this "Who's the baby!!!!" which is of course a variation on asking the cat "Who's the kitty!!!!"

I'm 19 weeks 3 days. I'm so happy about having a boy. It's all so exciting. DD is going to love being a big sis.
As far as clothes, we don't have any boy clothes, but I'm sure we'll get hand-me-downs and I'll buy some, too.
chiro--sorry about the bleeding. I hope it doesn't come back. Glad to hear your little one is doing great.
coco--you'll feel the baby soon, I'm sure. Sorry you're feeling bummed sometimes. Trust me, things will be ready for the baby's arrival. It all works out in the end.

Well, I bought and bought today - nothing too outrageous (I think I spent $80 which is not in the budget right now exactly, so I guess for us, it was outrageous...sigh) but anyway I got 6 little boy sleepers, 6 t-shirts and 2 summer outfits. I just couldn't help myself...I know I'm going to get a lot of hand-me-downs, but I wanted to pick out a few things myself just in the excitement of having a boy after three girls :D I'm sure between my purchases today and what I get from friends and family, it's going to be more than enough so this is my written reminder to stop shopping at once. :lol
So far so good on my pg symptoms, I usually have horrible heartburn and that was actually one of my first pg signs, but ironically after a week of being pg, I haven't noticed any heartburn at all...thank God for small favors! Ido have a little insomnia these days and I'm overly emotional, but the physical side effects are minimal...well except for my belly which I wouldn't call minimal.
DH went to our first u/s (just informal in-office) so I'm going to invite my m/w and best friend (baby's godmother) to the diagnostic u/s I have on the 30th. I've never gone to an u/s with anyone but dh before so this should be fun!
Bless your bellies...

 Mommitola, you are a mama (and kitty mama) after my own heart!
I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow and I'm feeling very very well! Ever since the u/s I've been feeling lots of movement from the little guy and I just love it. I keep trying to get DH to feel it, but we're not quite there yet. He's been talking to the baby a lot though, which is hilarious. And I started playing guitar to the baby and singing to him (trying to do it at least once a day). So far I can't really tell by his movements if he's reacting to it or not, but I like to think so.
Still no real belly to speak of, but I've been HUNGRY today, I feel like 80% of my time is trying to figure out what to eat next. Take out is looking way too good and we cannot afford it right now! Especially after my vaccine/birth book-buying spree yesterday...eek! But they were all cheaper than they would have been at the store (got them at Buy.com), so that's good, right? :innocent
I really want to hit up some more 2nd-hand shops for baby clothes. I love the thrill of a good thriftscore!

Speaking of books, here are four I would like to read:
http://store.homefirst.com/books.html
Dr. Mayer Eisenstein is a homebirth doc in Chicago who has NO cases of autism in his patients. Not so coincidentally, they are all unvaccinated. Here's a good article on his practice:

Thanks for the links- I know that practice very well, they have an office in my area. They also host a LLL evening meeting for couples, quite a good meeting I am told. They also send a lot of expectant mamas to our meetings and they continue after the baby is born. I do not know of many other practices that do send patients to LLL meeting so a major plus for them.
BUT, the Drs do not do home delivery, they are done by midwives in the practice fyi. They also are NOT on staff at any area hospitals in the communities they practice and have their offices in. They are only with one obsure hospital in the North side of Chicago that most in the city have also never heard of. And if you live in the suburbs where 3 of their 4 clinics are, the chances of getting to that hospital for any reason are slim and none. So if you are doing a homebirth and for some reason you need to go to the hospital like my cousin and neighbor (both used homefirst) you are on your own with a stranger dr and the midwives cannot go in according to ILL standards as they found out. Also if your child needs any hospital needs, you are out of luck as their patient since they cannot get tests, privilages etc at any area hospitals.
But they have great books!

hi ladies~
i feel kinda behind too as im only 17wks 5 days. everyone else seems to be 19 wks or more! i've only felt sporadic movement. more of a rolling sensation. can't wait till s/he gets to kickin'!
our u/s is scheduled for mon. the 23rd and i can't wait!! we're going to find out.
like some, i haven't done a lick of shopping! i wanted to wait to find out what were having, then i'll go thru our dd's stuff and pick what to keep and what to donate. then i'll see what i need to buy. because everything we own is pink or girly, if this is a boy i'll need to do some serious shopping! darn! :wink
i really like consignment kids shops too. you can find some adorable clothes that i would never pay for full price, but you can't beat "gently worn"!!
i've gained about 7-8lbs so far and its all belly!! my sciatica is also starting to act up! :irked: was hoping to avoid that this pregnancy...not so. oh well...im drinking water like crazy! i've found it actually helps w/ my back aches. i've also been constantly hungry!! and of course its not for the healthiest things :o rainbow sherbet has become my bestfriend :lol

I will b e 20 weeks on Tuesday and I got all choked up this morning thinking that we are heading into the 3rd trimester :lol wow! I still have a pretty good list of things "to do." I am trying to get rid of stuff that I dont like from wwhen ds1 was a babe and make room for ds2! Our house isn't teeny tiny but we will be very cozy once the new guy gets here. SO I think it may be a bit o' nesting, a bit of nerves, and just plain excitement. I have been feeling great lately, my skin has been freaking out a little. I am searching for a good belly butter recipe to make at home. My belly is getting a bit itchy. And, I am trying to not overbuy newborn cloth, but manm they are SO cute! but I know they will prob be outgrown way before they are outloved, so I am trying to stay on the inexpensive side for the nb sizes.
Other then that, since this is the chat thread, can I go way off the radr for a sec and ask you mamas something? Let me start with I am not paranoid nor overly anxious :lol I have been feeling a little scared lately about the world that I am bringing another child into. I mean, I really feel like the world is just getting so, out of control, and without getting into the political side of things, I am really upset that our world, our country, is headed in such a bad direction. IMO :) I try to do my part and one of my favorite sayings is, "Be the change you want to see in the world," there are just some days that I really truley worry for my children and the world I am bringing them into. Not to be pessimistic, I am truley a very optimistic person, sometimes it just overwhelms me. I had nightmares last night about being in a bomb shelter. ummm, yikes :( :blah :blah
OK, got that out, thanks!
Oh and I LOVE thrift shopping too :D

sarah~ :hug i know how you feel. last night, dh and i were watching our local evening news and almost every story involved murder. we live in a nice, family oriented suburb of our state's capital, jackson, ms. and thank gosh that we do. crime is so bad in the city. it just made me think about the world and wonder what it'll be like in a decade. don't even get me started about what's going on nationally and globally. i think if i tend to dwell on it, i get extremely overwhelmed. just know that i understand :Peace
my u/s is coming up on monday and i just can't wait!!!! i'll get to start planning my newborn cd stash and go thru the girls clothes and see what can stay and what has to go. i have a real hunch that this little bean is a boy!

Anyone nesting?
I started a declutter challenge in the mindful home mang section so I have been decluttering all month. But dh is also in on the gig so maybe he is nesting too!
I have been getting rid of stuff thru ebay and the tp. Maybe make a few bucks to support my diaper habit :wink

My nesting tends to begin about 1-2 days before going into labor. :lol But, I did make 4 flannel holders for mama cloth the other day. :) 1 ended up being a bit shorter than the other three, so it'll be part of the light stash. I'm trying to make about 12 regular flow pads (holder & inserts), but I need to see what I already have in my drawer before making any more. I still have about 12 AIO's to make for babe and then I need to confirm I have what I need for cd's ... but nope, not nesting over here (it would be nice to be nesting ... the house could probably use a good going'over).

Speaking of nesting before labor- the week before dd came, I cleaned out all the kichen drawers and cleaned them, washed the floors, cleaned out closets, washed about 8 loads of laundry and made four different batches of homemade cookies. :nut DH called me the blur with the belly.

I have been decluttering room by room. We just finished the laundry room...WOW!!! It is the room of my dreams. We put hooks up, baskets for the kids backpacks, etc...a cleaned out cabinet for shoes. And the best part...A BABY STATION!! With two babes in diapers, I need and organized area. We put a changing pad on the counter-top ( I have kitchen cabinets in my laundry room) and have a drawer and cabinet for diaper-stuff. Also it is right next to the slop sink, so easy diaper storage until wash time!
Ok..I am loser..way too excited about a laundry room!!
Next room is what is going to be the two babies room (if this one is a boy). We are putting up a closet system to eliminate the need for a dresser (Ikea has some great stuff on sale). Once I know what this new one is, we can paint.
I am having a dinner party here in two weeks, so I would like to finally get some pictures hung on the walls....

So did I :) And I have everything for a boy and everything for a girl.... (second-hand) because I don't want to know the sex.

still feeling pretty sick, but i can keep most foods down now. BUT, we just had another OB appointment and i didnt gain any weight last month! doctor told me that i have to catch up this month... but i feel like all i do is eat.

I bought laundry detergent today for the baby stuff!! My DH insists on using scented stuff for our laundry, and none if us or the kids have a problem with it, but I don't want to use it for a brand new baby. Tomorrow is the US, so I think I just may know what needs to be washed!!
And Kittyhead, I haven't bought anything...but I did see these gorgeous linen dresses at Carters Outlet for $6....if this babe is a girl, you can bet I am headed down there!!
The dress looked like this one..too cute!!

I have to go thru my baby stuff right away before I go visit my parents in a few weeks. Mom and I will go shopping plus they will be back in town this spring so God only knows what she will find, now that there is two girls. She loves buying girl clothes and girl toys now for dd and my niece so this will go over the top.
BUT,
is anyone totally exhuasted at the end of the day? I am out cold this past week at 9:45pm (normally go to bed 10:30-10:45) plus my belly is growing before my eyes. DH said thats why I am tired. But I wake up refreshed and dh goes to bed too since we always go to bed together (something we always did) so he said he feels like he has a ton of energy.

Yeah, it's funny you should mention it, because for a while I was up late. But the past two nights, I've been out by 9-9:30 or so on the couch! DH's sleeping schedule is all messed up (he's not that good a sleeper to begin with) he usually stays up later watching TV in bed (because nothing is waking me up!) but then he woke up at like 4 a.m. this morning for no apparent reason and couldn't get back to sleep. Ugh.
And my belly seems HUGE all of a sudden today. HUGE.
MyLittleWonders
01-25-2006, 05:52 PM
I usually don't go to bed until at least midnight, but don't wake until 8:30 or 9:00, when the boys wake (we are kind of late birds). But, by 1 or 2pm I am down for the count. Luckily ds#2 still naps, so as soon as I get him asleep and in bed, I put on PBSKids, and lay on the couch with ds#1. He's getting better at letting me actually sleep, and I can typically get 30 minutes to 1 hour this way.
And yep, the belly is growing though I'm still not gaining much (still don't have much of an appetite). But the basketball under my skin is back for a 3rd time! :lol With my first my mom had said I should name the baby Wilson if a boy because I looked like I had a Wilson volleyball going on! :bouncy Spaulding would have been more appropriate as I looked more like a basketball, but that doesn't sound as much like a first name. ;)

Some days are better than others for me. Last night we went out to dinner and when we got home, I crashed. Today will probably be the same but with Chinese food (dh's choice!)
Mine are all stacked in front. People tell me that from the back I look like I've lost more weight. It's like they glued themselves right in front. Maybe that is why everyone keeps insisting I'm having boys? :lol

I know exactly what you mean. My last one was also all in front. I am also sporting the basketball- sooner than last time. I also feel that stretchy stuff going on down low. I'm all in front again and this is another girl and I also heard a ton of people say- carrying in front, thats a boy. But I also heard the same for girl.
Went out last night for Moms night out. When I got up from the table around 10:30 (total gab fest) my back thieghs were numb. I guess going out and sitting on a wooden chair for 3-4 hours is not the best thing anymore. I was surprised I could stay up tht late. But I feel sore this morning so I soaked in a warmer tub and when dd gets up we are going to the zoo. The fresh air and walking does wonders for my joints.
