I want to start off this new year by posting some plans that I have come up with for Trust Birth, an organization that is committed to helping women trust birth. Our website is www.freewebs.com/doulajewla and you can post messages there as well. Hopefully, I will be able to have vbac stories and pictures on there as well in the future! My HBA3C is on there already, check it out!
I need some help also with Trusting Birth and possibly a future VBAC movement maybe in the spring. (thanks to Helena for that idea!) Without the voices of many women it wont happen. I am only one person and need many voices to help become successful in educating women who want to know more about VBACs. I hope that some of you are able to help me brainstorm and come up with alot of ideas to try to maybe get some recognition about our group. I am hoping to get women interested enough to come learn and share with us. But without you I can do only so much.
Here is what I have planned so far for our meetings. Please let me know if you have any suggestions too!
1st Meeting--unnecessary interventions during labor and birth and how they can lead to unnecessary c/s.
2nd--trusting your body to give birth, even if you have had a c/s!
3rd--nutrition during pregnancy and how it relates to a healthy birth
4th--information about c/s and how ICAN can help....info about VBACs
5th--water births, and sharing my home water birth video of the birth of our 4th child---a HBA3C!
6th--sharing our stories of birth---id like this to be a time of healing and no judgements against one another--I hope we can all share our stories without worry of being judged. We are here to support one another :)
7th--books that are great to read--i will also be willing to lend out a book or two that i have....and id like it if everyone brings a book to share and maybe read a paragraph from the book about something that has helped you.
8th--fears
I am willing to host the bimonthly meetings here in my home in North Bennington ,VT, but we can also use the Bennington Library. My first objective here is to gather women together who have a great interest in birth and VBACs. I would like to get the notices up in doctor's offices and stores in Bennington and adjacent areas. I have printed some and sent some to a friend of mine to put up...let me know if anyone else would be willing to print and hang in their areas too.
Once I have enough women then I will schedule our first meeting. I want to make sure I have at least 5 other women that I do not know to come, so please spread the word! Anyone who is pregnant or just has a love of birth, or someone who supports VBACs.
Now I want to hear from you! Please let me know your thoughts!
