What sling works best for you when you're trying to get some housework done?
My baby doesn't like the Maya Wrap and while he does like the Moby Wrap type sling, it's no good for wearing while bending over and moving all around. He just slides around in it and the sling gets all un-adjusted and stuff. So, any suggestions?

ok, i know i'll get some boo-hisses for this b/c there are some real anti-bjorn mamas out there, but that sturdy head support on the baby bjorn sure does make it easier to be hands free when babe is so tiny. you have to push on the back of the fabric when you reach into the dryer and all, but i still feel baby is better supported head and neck-wise with this carrier. the leg/hip support thing is still up for debate. my personal feeling is that if we were like mayans, carrying our kids all the live long day, then maybe a bjorn would be a bad thing, but for an hour or so just to do a little housework?
just my .02 of course :)

so would a mei tei have the same benefit as the bjorn but with better leg/back positioning?

i've been wondering the same thing...reed won't let anyone put him down and it's impossible to do anything with carter or around the house.
i also have a maya and a wrap but i think the wrap would work okay for us - he feels *way* secure in it. like i could probably do handstands and he wouldn't fall out. lol but it's not convenient to get him in it for just a few minutes so we only use that for walks.
i can't wait til he's older and can hold his head up well so i can use my podaegis. now those are GREAT for housework!

I was wondering this also. I have a Maya type sling that my doula's daughter made me. It is great but I have trouble getting it tight enough so I don't feel like she is going to slip out, I think she is still to little. So while it is great for sitting on the floor and playing with Alex or wandering around the stores, I honestly don't feel like I can do a lot else at the moment. I've only had it a few days too so I'm still really inexperienced with it.
I had the Baby bjorn type thingy with Alex and while yep it worked great for head control, it killed my back. I'm pretty darned top heavy and I think that was really the problem. I couldn't wear the thing for more then 5/10 minutes.

I just use a long piece of organic fabric and tie it like this (http://www.tinybirdsorganics.com/organiccotton/slings.html). All of the info is in the link. I bought my fabric for like $24 at www.nearseanaturals.com, and only used about 1/3 of the width of the piece.
It may not be the fanciest, but it's Will's fave!

Here is my secret solution: make dh do all the housework! :lol HAHAHAHA
Ok, just kidding (kinda) ahahahaha........I use a maya cause that's the only thing I can get her tight enough in. I have a mai tei somewhere that would probably be good but I cant find the darn thing. LOL

I've been using the Moby for housework. What little I do! DH has been taking care of most of it, at least until his family leave ends next week. Then the true test comes. :innocent

thank goodness ava takes looooong naps (2-3hrs a pop) in her moses basket or i'd get nothing done, since she's not a fan of being worn inside the house.

:lol Yeah but if Teagan is napping and Alex is napping or happily occupied, then I would rather nap myself or come on here :D

I use an unpadded ring sling in tummy to tummy, mostly. It's easier to get tight and secure that way. My DD hates having her head tucked in the moby, so that makes it impossible to use for housework.
