Me! :wave Me! Actually, mine bypasses the heart completely and just turns directly into acid reflux at the back of my throat. It actually starts pretty early in my pregnancies and intensifies as the baby grows. By the end it's really nasty (and often causes gagging, coughing, and/or vomitting). Last night I took 6 Tums before I could finally get it to subside enough to fall asleep. The bummer part is that it's better when I'm on my left side, but I tend to fall asleep faster on my right ... so it's a toss between a bunch of Tums and faster sleep, or slower sleep and less Tums ... :irked:

I've had it get like that. I can always tell when the reflux is getting ready to happen. For some reason my face gets really hot. I have to run to the sink and cool it off. Sometimes that helps stop the vomit from coming. Good thing is only about 20 more weeks of it :mischief :lol

I'm with you guys :irked: Heartburn/reflux is always my worst pregnancy symptom. Last time I ended up resorting to prescription meds because I couldn't take it anymore....hope it doesn't get that bad this time!

i have to be really careful about what i eat. i already have a slight hiatal hernia, which makes it a lot worse. papaya enzymes really help, i used them regularly before i was preg. but wow do i miss red sauce on pasta... and orange juice.... and hot sauce.

Where would one find papaya enzymes? I know I don't like to eat papaya, so I'm assuming you can buy the enzymes in some other form at maybe the local HFS?

You can get them at Trader Joe's or probably any HFS.

Ok, good I'll look for them next time I go. I can't believe how early the heartburn has started this time around. I've already given in and broken out my bottle of prescription zantac from my last pregnancy because I get heartburn from as little as a bagel for breakfast!

I'm going to talk with my mw tomorrow night when she comes, but I'm at the point of pulling out the Zantac as well ... I'll even have to take Tums if I as much as roll over in the middle of the night. :irked:

No heartburn yet, just constantly burping after I eat. Nice.

I get it and it doesn't matter what I eat. I got the usual reccomendations fromt he ob but then he said that it was just something I'd have to deal with more because almost up to my rib cage.
What I really hate is when it burns the back of my throat and gets me going with coughing fits and then the I have a little issue :o and dh tells me to drink some water or starts to pat my back. At least he tries.
I am going to have so much more to tell my daughters about when they are pregnant than my mom's "I was sick with you for all 9 months!"
