Oh Mama... I know how lonely it can be there! I lived there for 10 years & still visit every couple years. I was born & raised in Sioux City & most of my family still lives there. Are you In South Sioux?

i lived in south sioux up until may of last year, now I live in ponca, a little farm town about 20 miles northwest, up near the SD border.
i spen alot of time in sioux city though.
I am really hoping to find some like minded people, without a keyboard :lol

I'm about 60 miles southwest of Sioux Falls (a lot more west than south, though!)

It is a lonely place to AP... but I've found a few others like us here. Most aren't native (neither am I) - that's for sure =)

Ya know I was kind of curious about this. I took my DD to the doc, we go to one of the sioux valley clinics, and the nurses were like, what are these (referring to her adorable CD's of course), these are so cute. Same with the Public Health gals. And all my friends at work think I am a little off...and I don't consider myself crunchy at all. I do CD and BF and co-sleep, kind of.

I have really gotten to like making my own dipes as a hobby and DH thinks I should start to sell them. He thinks I should try to find a "local" market. I keep trying to tell him that there would not be any demand. I haven't met any other cd mama's, but I haven't been at it for that long either.

No we are not crunchy enough for a "diaper market" and of course non of the crunchy moms go to the Dr. ;) I am kidding. but even amoung crunchy people I would bet a lot of CDing mamas have never sen cute ones. I had been cltoh diapering for a very long time before I ever saw a siaper with a print on it.

Hey!! I live in Sioux Falls -- and I must live in a cave or something because I don't know ANY crunchy moms around here!! My closest, crunchiest friend lives in Minnesota. Anyway -- I would LOVE to meet other SF mommies -- I really need someone to hang with who doesn't think I'm straight up nuts for wearing my 27 pound nearly-one-year-old son everyday and that my 5 year old son was EBF until he weaned himself at age 3 and the whole not-vaxing issue...OMG...I need company!!!!! I just happen to like:love my kids enough to wear them and EBF and co-sleep with the youngest, and not cut their little wee wee's. Really the cloth diapers are just to save money, and they're so darn cute. But I like to chat and I'm sympathetic and open minded. Is that enough!!!

I moved to Renner SD (its 3 miles north of sioux falls ) almost 2 years ago. And still dont know anyone around here. Some backround on me. Hello Heidi! My name is Heidi also!! :lol I'm 19 married to my DH John for 2 years. Have a daughter Haleigh who is 16 months and due in June with another little blessing :-) We EBF,used to cloth diaper and plan on doing it with this baby, co-sleep, no vax and if we ever have a boy will not circ either. and to lilyka, LOL at and of course non of the crunchy moms go to the Dr. I am kidding. I haven't taken DD to the DR. since last year in june i believe it was :dropjaw haha.
But anyways if anyone is interested there is an LLL meeting this thursday March 16th at 7 pm at Sioux Valley (i can't remember the room right now) it's in the basment, if you walk in the main entrance and go downstairs I'm sure you could find it. Hey, old thread, but there is a LLL enrichment meeting tomorrow morning (Friday, 10 am) and there might be a few crunchy mamas there.
Quoting the email I received about it-
We're meeting at "Children's Care at the playground. 'the play ground is open to the public. The school is located in 26th just west of western. you can see the
playground from 26th. There is a gate ( I can't remember the name of
the street) About 10:00. The fist playground you go into from the gate is for young children."

Hey Souixfalls mamas! I'm checking in to see if you have any playgroups next monday through wednesday. We (four children ages 6,9,11,13) and I have a chance to hitch a ride with DH as he attends a training in Souix Falls. We are going to see the hotel pool, maybe do some of the free stuff like parts of the visual art center, see the falls. Thought maybe we could have a little crunchfest out there, maybe meet at a park. I'll have internet access while we're out there, so pm me or I'll check back.

Oh, goodie! The SD moms are closer to me than the NE ones...they all seem to live in Lincoln and Omaha. Lovely cities, I'm sure, but a ways from me. I'm from Fordyce/Crofton, NE, about 20 mins south of Yankton. Like the OP, I'm probably not crunch enough for most of you, but it'd be nice to meet someone who just didn't think I was crazy for CDing! :lol
