newborn chomping my nipple like it's steak

i'm posting this on bfeeding forums too, but has anyone ever had a babe severely drop their jaw and clamp up and down the whole time they are nursing? he is breaking suction with each gulp and taking in way more air than he has to. i try to hold his chin up and make him do more straw sipping action but no avail. he defeats me every time, a really strong exaggerated action. his lips seem fine (flanged well etc.) otherwise. we had his frenulum clipped two weeks ago and he does seem to have more tongue mobility, so i don't know what is causing it.

thanks for any advice. i imagine once he gets teeth i am hosed. but right now, it doesn't hurt me. just him, poor little gas bird (another nickname we have for him by the way!)
