Not sure if the same thing is happening to you, but at 34 weeks I spotted for a few days and then lost my mucus plug. Maybe something similar is going on for you?

thats whay i was thinking but i wasn't sure what it even looked like to lose your plug. I dont want to mistake something really serious with losing the mucus plug... I havn't had any complications yet except a little high bp...

I have this book that tells about different symptoms in pregnancy... It's called "What to expect while expecting" It's an excellent book to read! It's kind of late to get it now though.. but it says that a brownish discharge is normal, but you need to go to the hospital if you see a bright red discharge during your 9th month of pregnancy.
If you feel unsure about this... or if you feel concerned... you are always better off going to see your doctor than to wish you would have went..

I'm 38 weeks and a few days. For two days last week - Thursday and Friday - I woke up with brownish discharge. This is my 5th baby and the first time I have noticed this happening. I'll tell you what my midwife told me . . . it probably means that you're going to have a baby within the next couple/few weeks :-) Probably not today, but sometimes that happens too.
Basically, it means your body is starting to change and possibly dialate a bit. It is a pre-labor symptom, but it doesn't necessarily mean that baby is coming anytime in the immediate future.
Good luck!

That is awesome that you have the same book! It is the best book ever. It's been pretty much my bible this pregnancy too. I think it basically covers every question we could have.

Brown is good, Bright Red is more of a concern. Mucus Plug is usually a mix of globs of mucus and bits of blood, brown or red. Kinda like a Chicken egg that didn't fully form. Also if you have had any recent vag. checks or sex it can be breaking loose that old blood.
My fave. book ever is "Hey who's having this baby anyway"
