Someone reassure me please????

I had my appointment with my backup midwife/doc practice (I'm planning a homebirth). The only problem was with my urine! It showed up as a +3 for protein. They did another test and it showed that I have blood in my urine. The midwife said she thought it was probably from some bloody show and not anything to worry about. But she offered me a blood test to test the liver/kidneys just to make sure and I took her up on it. I have no other signs of pre-eclampsia, so she didn't think that was it. But now I'm worried. Any thoughts?

Good news - I'm 1.5 - 2 cm and the baby is at -1 to 0 station. Progress is being made!!

No advice, except eat LOTS of eggs if you are afraid of preeclampsia. According to the Brewer diet, they prevent and can even reverse it in the early stages.

It's probably nothing, though -- I'm sure your midwife will err on the side of caution, so if she's not worried, I wouldn't worry either.

Thanks Angie! Deep down I know they are too. They're checking for pre-eclampsia and I have NO other symptoms. But, I cannot help but worry!!

Beanbean - Yup - eating LOTS of eggs!! They are sometimes the only things that actually taste good to me. Thanks for the encouragement.

My due date is 2/3. If she hasn't called by 8 pm then everything is fine.

Good luck honey. I am sure everything is ok. Even a mild case of pre-e so close to your due date is not full cause for No Homebirth. Sending Healthy mommy/baby vibes. :thumb

It's past 8, did you hear anything yet? Did you call Charlotte, what did she say about it?

I have had trace amounts of protein/blood in my urine 2-3 times now. Since there aren't any other signs of anything wrong at all, the midwives think it's just from my cervix. I haven't had any bloody show at all, haven't been having sex, etc., so I don't quite understand. I occasionally get a good knock on the cervix from baby, but I never see any pink mucus or anything. Oh well?? Hope your tests come back A-OK.

Michelle - I decided to wait to call Charlotte until I heard about the blood test. I'll call tomorrow sometime.

Carol - That's what they decided my protein/blood must be from too.

Awesome thing is that I've been up since 2 am with contractions about 8 - 10 minutes apart. (It's now 5 am) They're getting harder and I can't talk through them. Hopefully this is it!!!
