Okay, Any and all advise, comments, or questions.. please say or ask...

Okay, here is the deal, Ive been comparing pictures of my pregnancy with my son and daughter and this one.. Heres the deal, we have had 1 sonogram and they did 3D also, but said there is only 1 baby (this was at about 17 weeks I guess) and Im now 25 weeks and 5 days pregnant Well, Im HUGE compared to either pregnancy. My 1st child, boy, I got pretty big, but not gigantic, but at this point in my pregnancy, I was still tiny compared to now, he was 7 lb 13 oz.. With my 2nd baby, a girl, I was tiny, never really "popped out" just kinda looked fat for 8 months (she was preemie) This time, Im humongous (spell?) I mean, just today, while grocery shopping, 6 people commented on how I must be due anyday. 1 even said "Wow, you must be going nuts because you passed your due date" I mean, WTF???? I can tell the difference with this pregnancy, I mean Im absolutely gigantic. With my previous 2, I could still bend a little at this point, but now I can barely lean forward (even sitting indian style) We go late February for another 3D/4D ultrasound, but I dunno.. Could I be expecting twins and not know it? Could any of you ladies that are pregnant with twins post belly pics of lately so I could compare my belly? LOL.. They do listen to the heartbeat at every appointment and find it right away. I did have a prenatal panel done around 12 weeks, but dont even know the results (Im the kinda person who doesnt like knowing all that kinda stuff.. hehe) I do trust my midwife and they weigh me every visit but the place I go, I weigh myself, so not sure how accurate it is, but Ive gained 15 lbs so far since 6 weeks (thats when I first weighed in) I had a lot of nausea in the beginning of the pregnancy, but not too much vomiting.. I guess it really doesnt sound like twins.. Im just huge compared to previous pregnancies LOL.. I do have a lot of fetal movement though. Although, probably not too much more than with previous pregnancies. There are a lot of twins in our families and my midwives doppler is probably older than I am, so I dunno how well I trust it.. And Ive been measuring about 2" or 2 cm (however they measure your uterus inches or centimeters LOL) bigger than weeks (which I know can be normal) I havent had a diagnostic ultrasound because insurance wont pay for it (we went to an ultrasound "store" type place where they arent trained to look for much other than sex LOL, but I would think they would have seen another baby if there were 1 LOL) Anyways, sorry so long..

Here are belly shots from last night.. Remember Im not full term. In the pictures Im exactly 25 w 5 d

Wowza! I don't know if it's twins, but that's a big belly! Hmm, have you talked to your midwife about your concerns? Has she actually tried to listen for another heartbeat? I have heard that twins can hide behind each other in ultrasounds, but the ultrasound tech at my docs said it was pretty unlikely.

I'm due with #3 too and I'm quite bigger with this baby. It could also be that the pregnancies are so close, your uterus is still pretty stretched out. At my last appointment I was not quite 25 wks and measured 28 cm. Still within the normal range.

I have not even brought it up with my midwife because at my last 3 appointments Ive seen the midwife's assistant and shes a little "off" in my opinion LOL.. But, this appointment, Im going to make it a point to see my midwife and ask her about it.. Besides, Ive gone 3 months without seeing the actual midwife, I think its about time I get to LOL.. They havent tried to find a second heartbeat. Its probably just that my uterus is still stretched out.. Its just bugging me LOL.. Its like I want to be 100% sure Im not pregnant with twins, I dont think we could afford the surprise financially (all the doubles we would need to buy LOL) but if we had the rest of the pregnancy to save up and all, it wouldnt be as bad.. Its probably just 1 baby, just a big ole baby and a stretched out uterus LOL But, I am going to ask for a diagnostic ultrasound and maybe I can lie about something to make it a medical reason for the ultrasound LOL

You know, I'm a week and a half behind you and really about the same size. Are you short? Last pregnancy I was big but measured right on time. I just carry babies straight out because I have no room on my small frame. By 7 mos I was sick of the comments about my size and stopped going to professional events. The day I went into labor some woman said, within earshot, "That just LOOKS PAINFUL!"

I'm getting the same crap this time, only months earlier, and for some reason it's bothering me a lot more. Several people have said in the last few weeks "Are you about due?" I'm so glad I'm 6 months now because that sounds so much more "acceptable" than being 5 months and so big.

My MW said she would have suspected twins, and I was measuring a little ahead, but I'd just had a thorough U/S so we'd ruled that out.

Sometimes, we're just big. I'm happy to commisserate.

That's a good point Kat... I think that's why I carry so roundly because I'm short. Thankfully I have a wide pelvis or else I'd totally be sticking out.

I'll shut up now since I replied to this thread on the pregnancy forum. :wink Let us know what you find out.

I think ins. ought to pay for an u/s to rule out twins- that's a good enough reason!

PS- I can usually tell when my babe is traverse but otherwise haven't been able to differentiate butt from head and my midwife couldn't either. I think we will at the 28-29 week prenatal though.

you could also have a lot of amniotic fluid.

I never get big with my babies and always have a lot of fluid, so much that i usually measure 3-4 weeks bigger than i am. i was measuring 41 weeks when i went into labor and my mw thinks the baby was only 35 weeks. i am just rambling, lalalala..

That's quite a belly mama! Just beautiful! :D I would say that it's certainly possible that there's more than one babe in there, that happened to my mama. The docs nor she realized what was afoot till she was delivering. One baby came, my little brother, and everyone thought all was done when my mom goes, uh-uh, something ain't right, and they look and holy crap here comes another one! My little sister that one was. They were 7 month preemies and apparently my brother had been getting crammed into the corner so to speak by my sister throughout the PG! :lol :nut So yes, possible but probably unlikely. :) You're probably just sportin' a fantastico belly! :wink

I am short and that probably has something to do with it too, Im 5'1". I mean, I feel non stop movement but I dont really know what 2 babies would feel like LOL.. Ive decided to pay out of pocket for another 3D u/s on Saturday and Saturday cant come fast enough LOL..

Heehee, I think it's a singleton! I'm huge too, and I'm only 24 weeks. We actually thought there might be twins in there since I was measuring 6 weeks ahead (still am). We had our first u/s at almost 20 weeks, and there's only one. I think that at 17 weeks, they'd be able to see two very clearly.
