UGH! I was expecting to have PTL again, but not quite this early. I figured I had another 2-3 weeks before I had to limit my activity. I actually delayed calling my OB until this morning, because I didn't feel like going to L&D last night. Anyway, I spent about 3 hours in the hospital today being monitored and having tests done, before they let me go home. I'm supposed to be on bedrest. :lol Does anyone have any idea how to be on bedrest when you have a ds that will be 2 in a few weeks?

This post is taking me forever to type. My OB put me on Brethine(terbutaline). I was on it the last trimester, when I was pg with ds. It relaxes smooth muscle tissue (for example, the uterus), but it makes me super jittery, and I feel like I'm on speed or something. So, I keep making mistakes as I type. It's driving me nuts! Oh well.

Hopefully, I'll be able to do a little more in a few weeks. With ds, I was only on complete bedrest for a couple weeks, then I got to go on limited activity, which meant I could go grocery shopping and stuff like that, as long as I was only on my feet for no more than a few hours a day. I seem to have lots of contractions, but if it's like last time they're not really productive. I'm hoping that it will be that way this time. We'll see.

Totally OT RANT- I stopped for fast food on the way home. I don't do it very often, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with fixing dinner. As I'm waiting for the *rather chunky* employee to give me my food, she asks if I'm expecting. (I don't think she could see my belly from where she was standing.) I say 'yes'. She says 'I thought so. Your face is puffy. My momma always said that's the first sign that a woman is expecting.' Umm, since when is it ok to ask if a woman is pregnant? And, my face is only puffy, because I'm on the stupid medicine! Seriously, I was about a size 4/6 when I got pg, and I've gained about 20 lbs in 26 weeks. It just really made me mad!

:hug So sorry to hear about the pre-term labor! Tell that beautiful baby that she can't come out yet, it's way too early! Btw, I love the name Carolyn Eve!

And what IS IT with people and their comments? I swear, people just don't think. The other day I went to the open-air market across the street to pick up some fruits and veggies and this older woman started chatting with me. She was a little strange to begin with, but suddenly she looks at me and says (rough translation) "Oh! You're fat. You can go ahead of me." I was totally taken aback! However, someone explained to me later (as I was laughing at this story) that older upper-middle-class women use the word fat instead of pregnant. I just cannot imagine a situation ever in which I say to someone, "Oh, you're fat / puffy / swollen / look like crap / whatever".

Anyway, sorry to ramble! Stay as still as possible and good luck!

Sorry to hear your in PTL! I've been on bedrest for 3 1/2 weeks already!!! I'm about to die. I just wanna go crazy, I swear. Also wanted to say that I tolerated procardia much better than the brethine, so if you get too bad with that maybe try procardia? I couldn't STAND the shaking!

As far as 2 year olds and bedrest - in one word - television! I am NOT on bedrest (thank goodness) but the worst part of 1st trimester for me is fatigue. My DS would let me sit/lie down if the TV was on, but not if it was off. He still wanted my attention - but it was okay for it to be given from a reclining position. When we moved just as I entered the 2nd trimester, the TV got put in the storage room in the new house with all the boxes we (still haven't) hadn't unpacked. I was SO SICK of having it on.

Good luck, stay IN, baby!

Hugs to you, mama!! I hope the bedrest doesn't last long. :o I was on bedrest, complete bedrest, from 29-37 weeks with DD#1. I could NOT imagine being put on bedrest with having another little one to look after. :lol

And sorry about the rude comments you all are getting, it is simply amazing that seeing a pregnant woman can bring out such RUDE, assanine people!! :lol

Thanks for all the happy thoughts everyone! I'm not too worried, since I had a similar experience with ds. But, we are concerned about the situation, and like to be cautious. I go back to the OB on Friday for a visit, so I'll see what she has to say then.

I talked to my mom today, and she said she'd come live with us for as long as we need. It could be a huge help, but I'm not quite ready to ask her to stay yet. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

I feel so yucky and grumpy right now. I actually called my housecleaner (she normally comes every 2 weeks), and told her not to come tomorrow. I honestly don't know what she'd clean, considering the house is not at all picked up.

Dh is so busy right now. He has his normal full-time job, plus an internship doing research at the hospital, plus this MCAT prep class, not to mention all the studying for the MCAT. I'm just not sure how we're going to keep it together for the next few months.

And, yeah tv's been my only saving grace. I feel really bad about it. I mean we don't normally watch much tv at all. We don't even have cable, just a set of rabbit ears. But, we have a tivo and record stuff off of PBS for ds. So, today the tv has been on almost constantly. He'll play with his toys, but for some reason he's just much calmer if it's on, and he can watch for a few minutes and then run off and find something else to do. Weird.

More hugs coming your way!!!!!

And try not to feel bad about the TV. If that's what works for now, then go with it.

So, sorry to hear about the PTL and bedrest. Hang in there! At least you have a computer to "talk" to everyone. It helps having a connection to the outside world.

Keep up your spirits, it really isn't for too much longer.

When I was on terb, they also gave me vistaril to help with the jittery feeling and relax me more. I had irritable uterus with tons and tons of non-productive BH as well. The vistaril can make you dopey/sleepy though, so I only took it at night. It might help you sleep though, if you can't. I'm sorry you're going through this mama, I hope your little girl stays put for a while!
