I could use some good vibes

Last week, I had another ultrasound and some blood work done.

The good news is I passed the 1-hour GD screen with flying colours. Seriously, no one thought I would, but i am way into the normal range. Whew!

Now for the bad news. I apparently have very low iron stores, which would explain why I am so tired. I have to get that up. My ferritin is a 5, and I don't think it has ever been that low before.

Even worse, they found some fluid around baby's heart during my extremely long ultrasound here. The actual heart appeared normal. See, I had yet another ulrtasound because at my 20wk, they couldn't see the heart well but did find an arrythmia.

Right now, I am waiting on the specialists on the coast to review my u/s reports amd decide if I take a "wait and see" approach, with serial U/S for the last 14 weeks here, or if I have to go down there and get a fetal ECG and level 2 U/S done. Of course, now I'm a nervous wreck. Who knows how long it will take them to get back to me. Hopefully, i will know at my next MW appointment next week.

Yeah, a week may seem like a while, but welcome to the Canadian medical system. Specialists are completely overwhelmed and there is only 1 hospital in all of BC with fetal ECG equipment.
Really, I am more concerned about the 5 hour drive to the closest hospital with pediatric cardiologists, over mountain passes and lousy winter roads (the highway got 49cm of snow in less than 12 hours last weekend)

:hug :1praying: Positive Vibes and prayers going to you and your baby. I know how frustrating waiting can be. Take it a day at a time. From what I've read heart problems don't usually cause a lot of problems in utero its once the baby is born that the trouble starts. For me that information makes it a whole lot easier to take it a day at a time, they are safe right now, and take the info as it comes. Its a very scary time but gathering as much support as your comfortable with IRL and here on the web makes it so much easier. Just do what your doing, and talk or write out your feelings anytime you get the urge, never feel that your burdening anyone. And we are all here for you.

My update:

All's pretty much good! Baby does have a bit of a heart problem, but it usually resolves itself before birth. I will need additional monitoring now. No biggie. The fluid is not enough to be concerned about, provided it doesn't get worse. That can be monitored up here.

We also found out that it's a girl!!!!!!
