I would love to play:~)
Melissa
ISO:
We are rumored to be having girl #4~ So i don't need alot but I would love some:
~ gender neutral AIO's~ newborn or small
~I did score a lot of diaper covers while in Houston(mainly newborn & small) so I do need some CD's
~ Anything mama made :love
~ Sling Maya would be nice:~)
~ Something to pamper me with :blush Esp my growing belly~ It is so dry where we live~ It is really hard when you are already a mom to 4 to be really gentle to yourself~ To make it worse my DH is scent sentive so I can only use lavender or vanilla scent~
~ Rasberry leaf tea ;)
~Nursing Tank in a Large any color but white :)
This is what i have to offer :o
I would love to make a baby quilt for my gift for my swap partner :love I have some classic pooh fabric as well as while I am here in Houston I will get some more flannel~ My quilts are made with flannel, satin & usually a fun fabric like chennille or fleece to make it more of a texture quilt for the baby's senses :o
I could also make some birth announcements or thank you cards~
Warmly,
Melissa

I totally love gift cards, so if you've received any that you won't use that are on my list, I would be thrilled. I don't find them impersonal at all. :lol Some of the items on my list are more expensive and could be considered a double package- or we could work out a partial swap and partial payment.
For me and baby :belly :surprise:...
~Belly Hugger, size x-small or small in oatmeal or chocolate
~Cute maternity tops, size Medium, fitted styles not blousy (PM me with pics first, btw Motherhood never fits me right)
~Fleurville Sling Tote in Floral Sky
~Glamourmom Nursing Bra, any style/color, size Med.
~Handpainted yarns for baby knitting projects- 100% cotton or 100% wool

Wow, now that I've said that I would do this, I can't think of what I want! :duh Like Busybusymama, my items are above the $15 range too, so we could also do double package or if someone has a newer style/version of the items that are in really good condition, you could gift me one that you may have and aren't using... another option is that I could find a place that has the one you wanted to swap and could just do a gift card there and I could pay the rest... just a thought!
here goes: (all in boy or GN colors please)
Moby wrap
New Native size Medium
Hotsling stretch padded size 3 or 4 (never tried one so don't know if I'm supposed to get the smaller or larger size?)
Water sling (pref gn solarveil) (can't remember sizes on these, but probably a normal/medium size)
Burt's Bees supplies for mom and/or baby
Mei Tai (please PM with fabric)
Gift cards:
Outback
Ruth's Chris
Ruby Tuesday
BRU
Amazon.com
Ebay
Barnes & Noble
Whole Foods
Taget
Wal-Mart
Misc.
Kodak photo printer paper size 4 x6
WEll, that's it so far... I'll keep trying to come up with LOTS of options so it makes it easier....
Thanks mamas, this is FUN!! :thumb

Yay...a swap! I can only think of a few things right now, but I'm sure I'll be able to add more in the next few days.
*Cloth Diapers: new, washed and never worn, or truly like new condition (dh won't do used dipes, so I have to be able to pass them off as new)
-prefer girly colors/patterns; size small (newborn okay, but I'm registering for newborn stuff, so smalls would be better)
-specifically: AIOs (Very Baby, Magic-Alls, or similar), FuzziBunz, small microterry inserts, small fitteds (prefer Kissaluvs Colors Galore, Muttaqins, or similar), covers (newborn or small; some pull-on nylon covers, like Bummis whisper pants or Dappi covers would be great), anything hyena, such as...
-I'm love with this one from BeccaBottoms, should some very generous fairy godmother be out there (it's $16.00): http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=68613&vid=21
-And this cover from Diaper Congo (9.50 for the XS, which I'd prefer; $11.00 for the small, which would also be great): http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=41802&vid=124
*A wet bag for when I'm out and about
-love these from Sewing Mom, the top one especially (cheap, too!--8.99): http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=83190&vid=243
NOTE: All the hyena stuff above is sold out. :( But I'm leaving the links up, because they show the kind of stuff I like.
This one is still available and sooo cute:
http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=18705&vid=74
*Allen's Naturally liquid laundry detergent (to wash those dipes!)
*Dr. Bronner's liquid soap, Baby Mild
*good, up-to-date books on vaxing
*The Vegetarian Mother's Cookbook, Cathe Olson
*new, girly burp cloths (homemade would be lovely!)
JuicyPakwan
02-03-2006, 05:02 PM
I have never done this before sounds fun!
I can't think of anything I really *need* but what I want hehe might be
*Hand knit baby shoes, acutally anything hand made for newborn or mama would be fun. Even if I can make it I love trying out different styles of diapers, mamapads, diaper bag etc.
Something's I could give would be homemade baby outfit (gown/dress/shorts shirtcombo) with 3 matching hemp fitted diapers newborn size. (I want to count how much the fabric cost me so it might technically be considered worth more than $15) or a combo of
6 Postpartum size mama pads
flannel nursing pads
cloth wipies

If we all tend to have longer/pricier lists, we can raise the value to $20 or $25 if that would help- whatever works for everyone. :thumb

02-04-2006, 12:23 AM
I've never done one of these before and this is my first baby. Can I still join in? I'd have to buy things to put in other people's boxes so I'm a little concerned with the small $15 price tag. Hard to get good stuff for that little here.
I'd be happy to up to $25 etc. Mostly, I like the idea of the giving and receiving! Sounds fun. Can you give more info to us novice swap mamas?

~Robeez or other soft soled shoes Boyish in 6-12 mos

I'll go ahead and change the package value to $25. Cindy and Sadie- if you can think of any ideas at all, post them... try looking at the ISOs that other mamas have posted for ideas. If you really don't care what you get, maybe mention the gender if you know it and such. :)

Thanks. Okay, maybe I'm just not getting this. What is an ISO? Things you want? What are we supposed to be doing? Writing what we want and then what? Are we supposed to pick someone to make a package for? Does someone else pick for us?
I guess the question I tried to ask in my other posts is this: What exactly is the protocal because I've never done this before? What's the basic "do this, then this happens, then do this" thing as it applies here. I'm hoping I'm not annoying anyone by asking, but I really want to know what I need to be doing.
Please don't keep me in the dark... its cold here... hehehe :wink

umm, let me try to get the gist of it
Delivery Confirmation is MANDATORY, so there is proof of mailing of the item(s). If delivery confirmation is not available, please purchase insurance for the package(s) you are sending.
Our swaps are generally geared toward gently used items that are in very good to excellent condition. If you desire otherwise, please post this in your ISO list.
Each swap has its own deadlines, for submitting your ISO list, when to email choices to the organizer, and when the package must be mailed. Please follow/adhere to these deadlines.
If something comes up and you cannot mail your package(s) by the deadline, email or pm the recipient AND the organizer and keep them up to date.
Also, PLEASE enclose a note, or atleast a slip of paper with your name and your MDC user name so the recipient knows who its from.
Please post and/or email/pm a thank you once you receive your pkg
For regular swaps, everyone posts their ISO lists. When the swap closes for sign ups, you check out everyone elses' lists and email the person coordinating the swap with who you can send a package to. The coordinator matches everyone up (you won't be sending to and receiving from the same person, the coordinator just makes sure that if you are sending packages to 2 people that you are getting packages from 2 people in return). She posts the match-ups and you get your package ready, send it out and stalk your mail carrier until your package comes

Well i am having a girl. I looked over some other ISO so i guess some things I'm looking for are:
-any kind of sling (without the top padding) size:normal/medium
-nursing bra:34DD /nursing tops size: medium
-anything related to breastfeeding
-gift cards
-products to help with strech marks
-good books(love to read)
-baby socks
-boppy
I guess thats all for now. Anything helps so I'm don't to picky. If I'm doing this wrong let me know;) Thanks

02-05-2006, 02:08 AM
We're not sure of the sex but are leaning toward a boy. Besides our fave colors are green, blue, and yellow anyhow!
ISO
-any organic baby clothes, we have none and really want some, especially from purebeginnings.com or sagecreeknaturals.com, size is unimportant because its the first baby and we have nothing.
-newborn baby scratch mittens, booties, t-shirts/kimono tees that wont rub umbilical cord stump, preferably organic or just really soft.
-organic baby bedding
-burts bees baby line
-so easy fresh baby food kit or accessories/cookbook
-classic pooh stuff
-twilight turtle night light
-any mothering's natural birthing/parenting book
-bradley method books
-organic valley coupons
-children's books about breastfeeding
-robeez- GN
Looks like an okay list to me but I can add on if you need it. :down
As for things I can give I'm a little stumped because I'm basically getting everything for the first time myself. I've got lots of non-baby books because I'm an avid reader. I think someone on here wanted some books but I'd love to know what genre they like to read. I also have an Elmo DVD that I'd be happy to give. Everything else I'd have to buy new. I probably won't have time to get something shipped to arrive here before the Feb 24 deadline, so I'm going to have to shop locally. Living in NYC things aren't exactly cheap so the sooner I know who I'm shopping for the better.

I've just now checked out the due-date club boards, I've been on MDC a while (just got a new username though, had to change from my old one because of a stalker) but had never checked out due date clubs. I'm calling myself due in May, although I'm totally UP/UC and don't teach preborns how to read a calendar LOL. Anyhow, I saw this thread and I REAALYY need a PICK ME UP, and my birthday is Feb 9 so can I participate?
I saw a few ISO's that I can meet, seeing as how I've been around this block a few times. Things I have on hand that I would love to swap to someone else: I have a New Native medium in denim that would fit someone's list... It's a demo that's been tried on but not really worn... I have a Mayawrap adjustable pouch that was used for a demo.... I have a Bummi wet sack size Medium.... I have at least a dozen chinese prefolds, unbleached, in very very good condition that I don't end up using because I EC...
Things I am ISO....
I'd love 100% cotton, organic if possible, newborn gowns
or those 100% cotton long tee shirts from The EC Store
Those baby leg warmers
I'd love anything mama-made. :)
A Spillproof potty from The EC store
The Mamaponcho babywearing poncho pattern from LittleTurtle Knits
gently used Soft Star leather shoes for toddler size 7 or possibly 8
Replacement copies of Natural Childbirth The Bradley Way-- I loaned mine out and it never came back
Replacement copies of The Full Quiver by Rick Hess, ditto.
Breast milk storage bags (I need these to give to my donors, I used pumped donor milk to feed my babies as I had a breast reduction surgery as a teen)

I'll add more if I can think of any!

custom diaper bag

Okay mamas... we are either going to have to close this swap early (tomorrow, Wednesday the 8th instead of Friday the 10th) or extend it until next Friday the 17th. My great-grandma has taken a turn for the worse and I'm working on preparations to drive to Florida, I'll be leaving the 10th and gone about a week.
So... do we close early or extend a week? :)

02-07-2006, 12:24 PM
My vote is to do whatever is easiest for YOU. You're the coordinator and you needn't have the added stress right now. If ending early and having it off your plate works better, Great. If extending and having something to do when you return, again, Great. That is my $.02, so as far as I'm concerned, the ball is in your court.
I wish the best for you and your great-grandma. :hug

First: :Hug I am glad that you are going to see her~ Sending you lots of good thoughts & prayers for a safe trip~
2nd: I agree with the PP Whatever works for you~ I will say that if we have to mail a week earlier it will be harder~ But maybe you can make the matchs & still have the mail out be the 24th~ That way all you have to do is deal with the match prior to leaving & not worry with evrything when you get back~

Okay mamas... Windows crashed on my computer yesterday afternoon so I had to go buy a new tower last night. Dh's buddy is a computer guru and gave us a disc that showed us our hard drive is good so I'm hoping we can retrieve lost pictures and stuff (I don't think I backed up the last two months of pictures :() but I'm not sure when dh will get that done so I need everyone (well, see list above again because a couple of you sent choices after my 'puter crashed so they were still in my PM box) to re-send their choices so the swap doesn't get delayed anymore.

I had the date down as Feb 28, but we can extend it to say, March 3rd to give everyone over a week to send packages. :) If anyone needs extra time to mail a package, let your swap buddy know okay (this might be true in the case of hand made items)?

I got home last night to a simply enormous package which was stuffed clear full of the cutest clothes! We had very little left from Blake, all of his clothes were hand-me-downs and we didn't have room to store them in our little house, so we passed on almost everything from when he was an infant. We only had 4 or 5 outfits for this coming baby.
Not anymore! We could not believe how many things you fit in that box. Our babe will be set for the first several months. We loved looking through all the little clothes, especially that cute turtle sweater!
Thank you so, so much. It is such a relief to not have to purchase any clothing before May. :love :love

I'm confused as to who I'm sending a package to. Below is the quote from the matchup. Is mine wrong? Am I sending to Anakna4 or to *andiflipping*?
Oops, that's where my mistake was- I thought something didn't match up right. You send to *andiflipping* only. Sorry! Let me know if this mixes anything up with you, *andiflipping* or Anakna4. :blush

Hi mama! Got your package the other day! Thank you so much, it was just PERFECT!
For all the other mamas, I got a Burt's Bees baby kit, a few added BB items for me :love a chocolate bar (yummy!) and a gift card to Whole foods. That will definitely come in handy considering my horrific craving right now is enormous Navel oranges!! :thumb
Thanks again mama and hope everyone enjoys their packages as much as I did!!! :twothumbs

Black goes with everything! :thumb I tried to decide between the colors so I could specify on my ISO but just couldn't make up my mind. It's a relief that I don't need to now. :lol
I can't believe we'll be having our babies soon... like in the next 6-10 weeks for me. :dropjaw

boingo82...I got the dipes last night! :bouncy Wow! I did NOT expect to get so much cute stuff--I can't thank you enough; they are absolutely fantastic. (For the curious: she sent me 4--yes, 4!--homemade dipes.)
Quick question: Other than the teeny nb flowered dipe with the yellow cover (adorable, btw), are the rest size smallish? It's so hard for me to tell--all dipes are so different.
Thanks again! :love

I am glad you like them! The teeny one is a small, and so are 2 of the others. They appear bigger though, because being sewn with all knits, they are stretchier. I believe I put in one medium also, it has pink cotton velour inside but I do not remember what was outside. :p
