Not the mothers or fathers in the room. Personally, don't like when I see it been done.

Thank you.

I have never heard that this was any sort of policy.
I dressed my own babies in my own room before going home. In fact no nurses ever brought my babies into the nursery without me for any reason.
Maybe it is just habit, they think they are helping by getting baby ready while mom gets herself ready. They think this is helpful and what people want.
Heck, I didnt even let the nurses bathe my babies. :flipped

I've been the one to get the babies ready and not in the nursery. The nursery at the hospital is now practically a glorified storeage closet.lol

I supose if that is where the baby is . . . .I have never heard of this being done but I don't actualy know of anyone who has let thier baby go to the nursery except for a quick procedure or while they tko a nap.

my baby never left my side, except for the 5 min it took for me to birth the placenta after she was born, I was in the nicu with her and there is no way I would let the nurses touch her.

It wasn't a policy at the hospital where we birth our two hospital babies. We dressed them to go home. Actually, ds was never out of one of our sights and the only time dd was out of my sight was the five minutes when they took her picture.

My son never spent any time in the nursery while we were in the hospital. Some moms like to have their baby stay in the nursery, I'm not sure why. I guess it is those babies that are dressed by the nurses.

My sons did spend time in the nursery, but I dressed them both and bathed them before we went home.

Neither of my ds's were dressed by the nurses. I dressed Ds1 after I dressed myself before we left the hospital. My mom helped dress Ds2 while I showered and got ready to leave. The nurses also didn't bath ds2, I did it on the second night. Ds2 never left the hospital room unless he was accompanied by dh or myself. I felt so sorry for the little babies whose mothers left them in the nursery. They just laid there under the lights crying. I imagine they were probably frightened and lonely. :( With Ds1 we had him sleep in the little bassinet thing next to the bed. With Ds2 he either slept on dh or myself the entire time. I don't think he was in the platic bassinet except when I took him for walks around the maternity floor. :lol

I dressed both of my babies in my hospital room. It was a very exciting moment with both of them and I remember every detail of getting those teeny tiny bodies in their take me home outfits. So sweet.

There were no babies in the nursery for either of my stays and I believe it was between 30 and 40 babies on the floor when my second was delivered. The nurses said everybody likes to have their babies with them. :throb

I've never heard of that.

Our hospital has a baby rooms in with mom policy.

My hospital had a pretty aggressive, take charge nursery staff and I still dressed DD to go home. It didn't even come up.

I've never heard of that either. We dressed dd in our room, where she'd been with us the entire time.

I've never heard of this. If you wish your baby to be dressed, you dress them before discharge. Else they come to you in a hospital onesie.

That's a new one to me!

What do the nurses say about it? Do parents really ask them to do this? I think most moms enjoy picking out a special going-home outfit and dressing the baby themselves.

Everyone,

Sorry, about this, but thought they do this as well from what I see at the hospital that I volunteer at.

Thank you.

My first and second daughters were born in the hospital and on both occasions, I was belittled and basically bitched out for dressing my babies.

They are MY babies. Makes my blood boil to this day.

Definitely one of many things that sent me on the path of UA birth.

Grrrrrrrrrr.

the nurses didn't even change my daughters diaper... i did it all, including dressing her to take her home.
