Does anybody have experience with pubic symphysis pain and sciatica, continuing postpartum?
I had 4 babies; 3 were over 10 pounds. The last baby (18 months old now) was only 8 pounds but I had severe polyhydramnios.
The symphysis pain was horrible awful with each of the boys :( .
But now Toby is 18 months and I'm having a return of the pain every month right before AF. I can hardly walk.
The pain is all on one side, plus sciatic pain.
I have one leg 2 inches shorter than the other leg, so my pelvis has always been out of whack. I think now its just worse out of whack than before the babies.
The Q: what do I do?
The other Q: why is it unnoticeable, except for 3 days premenstrual?

Hm...well...I'd had pain in my left hip joint off and on before pregnancy, then it became severe during pregnancy, and after pregnancy it is back to how it used to be. It comes and goes and when I have it then it hurts to walk. I haven't noticed it having a pattern relating to my period, but I haven't been paying attention to when it's occuring. I've never been able to get a doctor to even look at my hip. They always just act like there couldn't be something wrong. It's weird. Even my midwife was like, "Hip pain is normal in pregnancy." :( But I know it's not normal.
I think my problem is from a deformity in the joint. I have a deformed elbow and from what I've read...the type of pain I have in my hip could be from a deformity. The only advice I've ever gotten about it is to go to a chiropractor. I've never gone because I don't like docs of any sort. Maybe you could try that.
Sorry if that wasn't much help. I just know how you feel!

Go to a chiropractor!!! :thumb
My DS is 17 months now and I had horrible pubic symphasis pain with his pregnancy and for almost a year after. When I finally started going back to the chiropractor (I had gone during pregnancy, but stopped when he was born) the pain subsided. It took lots of adjustments and strengthening exercises before the releif lasted. But it has been several months now since I've had any pain at all. I do still get that "pop" when I move in certain ways, but it doesn't hurt anymore.

Guess I'll have to look for a chiropractor!
Between this pain, and my huge enormous unbelievable diastasis recti, I am a mess :( . Childbirth is normal, natural, beautiful, etc. but it sure did a number on my body!
I've just been dealing with it all because my toddler has special needs, and there are 3 other little ones here too. But now I'm finding some 'me' time, to try to fix some of these problems, and I can't believe what I have to work with. Ugh.
