Can papsmears when you're barely pregnant be harmful. I have a friend who just had one and she thinks she was only a couple of weeks along when she had it done. Could it disrupt the fetal tissue or are they usually done in a totally different place than implantation?

I asked my OB the exact same questions because we were trying to conceive when I had an appt. for my annual exam. It was during that 2 week wait so I didn't know if I was pregnant. She said that it was no concern and would not affect the pregnancy. I, however, being overly cautious, decided to go ahead and cancel my appt and reschedule it for when I knew for sure either way. I believe that damage isn't done, because a papsmear does not disturb where the baby is at all. Plus, OB's perform them routinely in the first trimester of a pregnancy.

Every first appointment with the doc for each of my pregnancies has included a pap.
