Help me to understand Graves Disease

My gp has told me that I have GD and it has stressed me out, I have had it for about 6 months that I know of, and still dont know much about it only that my eyes have got huge and I am gainning weight even though I watch what I eat, please help me with this as I am desperate to learn it all,Doc only tells you so much but I want facts from someone who has this thing,please helpppppppppppp

I had Graves Disease after I had my first child.
It stressed me out too.
Though I had an overactive thyroid rather than an underactive.
