My family will accompany me to Rome at the end of May, and as we will stay in a monastery's guest house, i am not sure what we will have bed-wise. I suspect we will have two twin beds and will therefore need something for my 2 1/2 year old daughter, perhaps something like a pack-n-play. Is there any sort of rental agency for baby items in Rome?

Second, how do those of you who live in Rome with young children get around? How large are your strollers?

Thank you in advance.

There are a lot of places strollers won't fit. We go to Rome a lot (we live in Naples) and always take our 30 lbs son in a baby carrier, usually the ergo. There really isn't any way to get around on the metro (subway) with a stroller because you jump off and on so fast. You can read about carriers at thebabywearer.com or find a store that sells ergos (good for the bigger kids) at ergobabycarrier.com Other times my son is happy to walk or run beside us, but you really need something for when you are getting on trains or walking in outdoor markets or high traffic areas. Hope this helps!

Oh, and I don't know of a rental agency - are you sure the monastery doesn't have anything? Even small hotels usually have something you can reserve if you don't co-sleep.
