View Full Version : prodromal labor is driving me nutty!

Since Saturday night I've had contractions off and on. I felt very weird saturday night, had lots of diarrhea and mild contractions, and couldn't go to sleep. Finally fell asleep around midnight. Then around 2 am I woke up with much stronger contractions, more diarrhea, and I timed them 5-6 min apart for several hours. I really thought that was it and I moved some stuff around in my bedroom so my MW could have space. Then I laid down around 5am and fell asleep and woke up with no contractions! Argh! All day yesterday they were about 8-10 min apart off and on (regular for a few hours, then none, etc.) and last night after dinner gone completely.

This morning I've had some more but not as strong. The baby is being very very quiet the past couple of days like she's resting up or something...come on baby!!! This is so opposite from my labor with DS--with him my water broke, I had HARD painful back labor contractions 3 min apart right away. No mistake. I like this better, but still...it's time to come out baby!

Anyone else taking their sweet time??

I'll take it! We're ready! I hope you all get better quickly though! I haven't lost any plug but I didn't with DS until I was way into labor, after my water broke. I've even been letting DS nurse, though he doesn't so much anymore, just to get things moving!

Same thing happened here the weekend before last I was really excited thinking just maybe Dh would still be home for the birth I hit ctx so i could barely walk from the kitchne to the living room all of like 10 steps before the next one would be kicking in. Lost my plug bloody show the whole nine yards had dh check me more to see if we could tell what body part was presenting to adjust plans accordingly for a breech if that was the case and i was like 6 cm and was exhausted from running a bazillion errands earlier so i layed down to rest and woke up and nothing. Figures it would have been perfect the kids were already asleep and it was 2 days before he was supposed to head back out to sea and nothing. its been over a week now and I jsut need the baby to stay put til after 6 tonight so i can get my friend from the airport who is flying in to stay with me til the birth then I'm ready!

I could have written your post, sleepymama! I still have two weeks before my EDD, but things seem to be getting prepared anyways!

I spent the night Saturday checking the clock, and contractions were about 7 mins apart, and regular. Not entirely painful though, so I just went to sleep. Then the entire day on Sunday they were getting more and more intense, and closer together. By evening, they were 5 mins apart and really making me catch my breath. I decided I would still go out for coffee with my SIL as planned, just down the road. While we sat in the restaurant the contractions seemed to be fading, but picked up again when I got home (or maybe I was just paying more attention!). We got some more things ready in the hospital bag, then I went to bed feeling awful (sick to my stomach, backache, etc)...woke up the next morning with nothing! Yesterday I did lose bits of plug each time I went to the bathroom, but no bloody show.
This little one is teasing me. I don't know if I can take 2+ more weeks of teasing!!

Sleepymama, just lurking to see how things are going. I even looked for the MW van when I drove by the other day! LOL!

Take Care Mama! Just thinking about you is all....I will keep lurking.

Just remember, the more work your body does now, the less it will have to do when the "real thing" arrives. :D GOOD LUCK, everyone!!!!!

This is the thread for me. I've been having early labor stuff for 2 weeks on and off. I'm 4cm and 90 % effaced, but no active labor. Baby is in plus2 position -ouch. I'm just 39 weeks. DS was born at 42 weeks. # more weeks of this sounds hard. I know I can do it and am thankful for the progress but...

I really feel way to open to be out in the world doing my regular stuff. So, I'm hanging around the house. Not the best thing for my emotions, but I need to be in this space.

I guess babies come into this world in all different ways. I'm trying to respect my little one, but geezzz.

Lurking here to be reminiscent....
Ds will be 3 months in 6 days. I had prodromal labor for 5, yes 5 weeks. Good luck to you mama, your baby will come in the perfect time :)

How did you keep from getting totally exhausted?

How did the birth go once it kicked in?

I had another night of contractions and today tons of mucous but nothing else. I'm frustrated.

I'm losing mucus today too. I will have a couple nights where I can't sleep much but then the next night the ctx will be mild enough that I sleep right through them. I'm really torn between trying to *do* stuff like walking etc. to get things moving and trying to conserve my strength. I hope when we all finally get things moving it is short and sweet!! These ctx are really nothing like what I experienced with DS, mostly they're just annoying. Sometimes I have to breathe through them, other times they feel more like BH. I updated on the other thread that I'm 2cm and mostly effaced, so hopefully within the next few days right?? I picked up a bouquet of pink flowers for my bedroom...let the baby come before they go droopy!!
