Does anyone know of any organizations (etc) that will donate a NEW car seat/booster seat??
I live in MA.
Ds just had another growth spurt and he is now too tall for his Britax Roundabout. If I had my say, I'd love to get the Britax Boulevard...but I have $0.

Any ideas???
Sorry if this belongs somewhere else.

Hugs,
Liz

In my town the hospital does car seat safety inspections and if your seat is found to be too old, unsafe, the wrong size etc. they will give you a new one for free. It is a wonderful service, but I can pretty much guarantee you that they aren't giving away any free Britax seats...

I got my convertable (costco brand) from the police. Maybe call them or the dept of transportation? But yeah, they won't be giving out anything *high end*

But don't forget, even if it's not high end, it will still meet all the safety requirements, and still do the same job as the expensive seat, just more cheaply.

Thanks everyone. The trick is that ds needs a harness style seat. He has special needs. The only seats that I know of that have higher weight/height limits are the Britax. Of course, if there are any others out there that I don't know of, I'd be glad to hear about them!
Plus, I love the idea of side impact protection. Especially since I will probably have to move ds's seat out of the middle of the backseat (if I get a nanny position).

I will try calling the police station and the local hospital to see what I can find out.

Thanks everyone!!!

All you will get from a free car seat program is a cheapo belt positioning booster or a harnessed combo seat which will be worse than you have now. I would try getting a Rx from your doctor for a Britax Traveler which is the special needs version of the Regent/Husky and have your insurance pay.

Hi! Sadly, I have state health insurance. I did just email ds's pediatrician to ask if he has any ideas so we shall see what he says.
That would be great if i could get MAHealth to pay for a Britax Traveler though. Thanks for letting me know about that!
