Hi, I had a daughter born on September 9th 2002. She was 5lbs 9 ounces and 18 inches then and is 11lbs 9 ounces and 24 inches now. (yes, I know she is small, I'm 5'6" 135 lbs and dh is 5'7 125 lbs). Life is great for us, she just started solids last month, so far she loves avocado, and avocado mixed with rice cereal, tolerated sweet potatoes and sweet potatoes mixed with rice, and hates bananas and pears no matter what we mix them with.

Are their any babies who have started solids and gone back to strictly breast or bottle feeding? Phoenix was getting a tiny bit of rice cereal, but he kept getting constipated. His BM was hard and he cried passing it. For the past 2 days I have only given him breast milk. We'll see how it goes.

Actually, we think Janelle is trying to do this, she has refused solids for the last 5 days, but she also has stopped sleeping all night long these past 5 days as well.

I've found that rice cereal constipates janelle as well, me eating prunes some how seems to work for her though. They taste gross, but it somehow ends up in the breastmilk.

Mr Laken just started solids this past week. He totally refused rice cereal:LOL So now I have to hide the rice cereal in his sweet potatoes each night!:wink

I feed him 1/2 jar (Stage 1) of sweet potatoes mixed with a tablespoon rice cereal. He gets so excited when he is eating- it is so cute!!

How about anyone else? Solids? Lake is 5 months old by the way.... I can't believe Baby Pooh (Phoenix) is going to be 6 months! WOW- It goes fast!:sunshine

we are feeding Alicia solids. We have been for awhile now. She just can't do with out eating her food once a day.:yum Sometimes we mix in cereal with the food, sometimes not. She usually eats about half a jar of baby food...then cereal mixed with it and water to make it the correct consistency. She is just a little piggy with it. Alicia will be 6 months old on the 9th *sigh* I can't believe how time flies. Half a year old...WOW!

Anyhoo, I was just checking in ladies...Don't want you thinking you can have your fun with out moi! *L*

Hello! I'm new here! :) I have a daughter named Raina who was born 07/06/02. She'll be seven months tomorrow. EEK! She was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 21" long at birth. She is now over 18 lbs. and 27". I have given her a few little tastes of cereal, but for now we are strictly breastfeeding. I will probably try solids again soon... maybe something a little tastier this time!

Janelle will be 5 months on Sunday and eats solids usually. She sleeps all night long on the nights that she eats solids at some point during the day, but doesn't on the nights that she has none. We are making our own food, and so far she loves avocados and avocados mixed with rice cereal. She won't eat plain rice cereal (and I don't really want her eating anything fat free anyways, at 11lbs she needs all the fat she can get), bananas or pears no matter how hard we try. She seems to like sweet potatoes though. I mixed flax seed oil into the sweet potatoes for the first time yeasterday and she seemed to like that.

Thanks ladies for the well wishes on Phoenix's 6th monthday. He got a really cute outfit from my parents. Stirped top with khaki cargo pants, come spring he will look adorable in it. This past week he began sitting on his own while holding a toy. Another thing he does is squeal <sp? like a pig. It is very high pitched and hilarious. Goofy child. :)

She never woke up until 6 AM!!!:bgbounce Let me tell you my boobs were ever hurting. And to top it all off, I woke up at 3 and then again at 5 when dh's alarm clock went. Hi Everyone!

I'm pretty new to this forum stuff and have been lurking around for quite awhile. I think I have finally found a home :love

My ds Aidan was born 9/13/02 and weighed 8lbs 6oz. He just had his well baby visit yesterday and weighs 18lbs and is 27" in length. He is growing like a weed!

We haven't started the little fella on solids yet. Right now he is exclusively breastfed and will probably wait until he gets to his 6 month birthday next month.

We are definately not sleeping through the night yet. He usually does 2 to 3 hr stretches. I'm hoping that he will go for longer stretches as he gets older. I can't imagine what it would be like if we weren't co-sleeping!

I go for her 6 month shots on Wednesday. *ouch* I am not looking forward to that. She is getting to be quite a little gal with her own personality now.:crying *sigh* They do grow up too fast it seems. Anyhoo, hope to see you stick around and post more. :thumb

Welcome to our brand spankin' new Playgroup. Several of us come here from another Playgroup where we were not so happy. :( My baby Phoenix is 6 months old now and really showing a personality. [COLOR=indigo]My hunch is he will be a wild one like his older sister Jamie. I have 4 kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, and 2 step daughters. No we don't all live in the same house. My parenting style in somewhere in between AP and not AP LOL. Sometimes he's attached others he's not. hehe :eek

Please fill free to post away, I have hopes this playgroup will really group into something beautiful. :) Walk easy, Robin

Welcome! I'm a first time mom to Piper who was born 7/26. She's a little thing too, under 14 pounds at her 6 months appointment, exclusively breastfed from the source, and we also cosleep. She's been sleeping terribly the past couple of nights, up every 90 minutes or so, but she's doing that from 10 to 10, so at least I get my sleep in there. She was nice enough to go back to sleep this morning at 8:30 when I was still tired.

Hi Ladies...nice to see some new faces and some old ones over here:) Today is a lazy day for me...except for one 3 mile walk. It was nice to get some fresh air and now my August baby, Carson, is snoozin away and my 5 year old is going through her toys, deciding which ones should go to charity since we are moving to a much smaller place. Ordering pizza tonight for dinner...yep, the ultimate in lazy here lol.

I'm going out to lunch with my boss on Tuesday. I'm supposed to go back to work in June and was unsure of what my position would be, because there has been so much change in the office. About 6 months before I left we opened up a one man graphics department downstairs instead of contracting it out. Now the poor guy is swamped down there and needs an assistant, and that's what my boss wants me to do. It involved mostly handling the admin side of it all but it would be a great learning experience, it's really interesting and sounds fun! Also if I wanted to take classes at the local college, my work would pay:) Anyway on Tuesday we're going to discuss it more with the graphics designer. I'll keep you updated on what happens:) Also I might be able to work from 7:00 - 3:30 instead of 8:00 - 4:30. I'd much rather be out of the house earlier and home earlier. Also my dh is only at work 3 days per work week (he works continental shifts) so we only need pt childcare.

We have no bananas today :banana

I am getting and eye exam this morning and ordering some new glasses. DH wants me to go for the "sexy librarian" look. "Librarian" I can do, "Sexy" is something out of my reach.

Phoenix only woke up once last night:thumb He didn't go to sleep until almost 2 am, but that is beside the point. I wish I could blame his not wanting to sleep on daytime naps, but he hardly naps. I have some cool news. Phoenix started crawling last night. We caught it all on video. He hasn't mastered this skill yet, but he can crawl the length of his pallet before he collapses. Sitting and crawling in one week, there is no holding my monkey back.:jammin

As I type this my hair is full of dye, must look lovely because I am going out in public today. LOL. OOPs, there goes the timer, gotta rinse.

Peace ya'll

Does it not feel the greatest when they sleep for ya? I hope that this is the beginning of a trend for our babies.

You are gonna look smart Robin, with your new glasses. What color are you dyeing your hair? I dye mine red. I think that it is actually time to do the roots. :eek

How are you guys? Did you really all leave our other playgroup? I hope it wasn't because I smell :eek I finally got to be the Featured Mommy last Friday and I was hoping ya'll would ask me some good leading questions about the crunchy side of life! Oh, well.

Ellery had her 6-month-day yesterday and she weighed almost 20 lbs last Thursday at the midwife's. I went to file paperwork for her birth certificate today, tried to get a SSN for her (and failed, but I haven't given up), and ran around town gathering paperwork for passports (not easy without a birth certificate). We are planning a week in Europe at the end of April. Yikes!!

Anyway, she is still 100% exclusively breastfed, with nary an artificial nipple in sight. I'm holding out for 7 months before starting solids...trying to protect that pristine gut a bit longer.

It's refreshing to be able to let my true colors fly here. I'm around...here, there, and everywhere...but now that I know you are here I'll check in when I can!

Wendy, did you get my e-mail? Hope I did not overwhelm you. We are finally at the end of what was about two weeks of a nasty virus (croupy coughs, fevers, earaches, etc).

Anyway I hope all is well and it's nice to see you guys. I guess if I come back later and you're still here I didn't smell after all. :Winky

(Edited to say, hmm...I am NOT a new member here...I've been around since the beginning of time...I wonder if that's one of the weirdnesses going on here?)

HI AMANDA!

I was hoping you'd find us. No we didn't leave because you smell. Just didn't feel comfortable with the religious posts. I will still lurk, and maybe post on occasion, the board was too wack last week. Congratulations on being featured Mommy.

20 lbs, big girl, she is thriving. Phoenix has his 6 month check up on the 21st, I am curious to see how much he weighs. He was 17.5 at 4 months. He gets about a tbsp of solid a day, the rest breast milk. He is very interested in food, but I am afraid to feed him much, I want his nutrition to come mainly from me. No plans to get real serious about solids until he's a year.

I love it here at Mothering. I came here a lot during my pregnancy, but it has me as a new member too. Must be because they recently upgraded. I emailed them concerning the site access problems, they responded stating they had trouble with a recent upgrade. Hopefully they will get it straightened out soon. We can let or FREAK FLAG FLY HERE! LOL

At least here if I tell you guys I use herbal rememdies I won't get yelled at. Over the Thanksgiving holiday my oldest DD was complaining with a mouth ulcer. I got some yellow root from a Native American medicine man I know, the ulcer was gone by morning.

My DD Jamie will be 17 years old tomorrow...my baby girl. I still love to smell her neck. LOL

Phoenix almost has his first tooth. You can see the white line, and feel it. Should break through this week. This would explain his runny BMs and low grade fever. Oh yeah, and biting the hell out of nipples. OUCH! Hylands Teething tabs are working well so far. He also likes a cold damp wash rag, and cool teething ring.

Check back often,
Robin

Hmmmmmmm, Carrie. Red-Cream? Red-Cream? Why not go daring and go with the RED. But then again..it's your wedding. You will still look lovely no matter what you are wearing. :heartbeat

Shoshana is doing great. She is turning over back to front and front to back. I sit her up, and she can stay like that for a little bit before plopping over. :p She doesn't like sleeping at night in her bed still. (Bassinet next to mine.) :( So I am still very sleep deprived. She also hates when I sew. She cries and cries. Oh yeah, she doesn't like her bouncey seat either. (Tried that in my sewing room.)

And, here is the real kicker ... she hates my in laws! They babysat today so I could take DD to the doctor (ear infection). She cried like they were killing her as I was walking out the door. Fun, huh?

Next week is the Hebrew date for Yossi's anniversary. I am actually doing OK. We are organizing a gathering on that day with his friends. Then we will go down and visit with him.

OK, nuff about me. I wrote to Rachel and told her about this site. :wink

On getting your marriage license, one step closer to making it official:love

Jamie got in an arguement with her father on her birthday. She called me crying. She wanted Italian for her bday, he didn't. And, she said he is spending too much time with new girlfriend. Sometimes he's an a$$hole.:angry I am trying to persuade them into coming here for school, but so far they don't want to leave. We will be there for the next 4 days, and we will make it up to her.

Since we are a tight knit group I will tell everyone that during my divorce in 96-97 I had a complete nervous break down. I was in the nut house, the whole nine.:jaw My DDs went to live with their Dad in Atlanta Ga. My disabled son lives in a place for severely disabled children. All of his medical needs are taken care of. It is about 45 min from here. I am all better now, happily on antidepressants. My DH and I would love to have all the kids under one roof, but they like the schools there. We have them every other weekend, holidays and all summer. I have definate issues in thinking people think I am a bad Mama because only one of my children lives with me, but believe me, it's the EXACT opposite.

Hope you don't all hate me now,
Robin:lady

Robin, do not be too down on yourself. Everyone does what they do. If you want to hear a confession, I have to tell you ... I don't think I kissed or hugged my kids much for the first year after Yossi died. It was so painful. I still do not read books too much. And it was hard for me to be close with them. My DS moved into Yossi's room, and I still have a very hard time going in at night to kiss him good night.

You are a wonderful mommy who loves her kids, but went through a hard time. Give yourself some slack and do not worry about what others think of you. It is what you think of you that matters.

Hugs, Leah

Hi all ladies. I am back from my trip to Calgary. It was a lovely time, except one problem. SLEEP! I want......(please)

Your best tips on getting baby to sleep more at night.
Alicia is waking up at night at least a couple of times. I usually bring her into bed with me around 4ish as Ryan is getting up soon to go to work, but that is getting me almost no sleep after. She kicks and hits and thinks it's time to play. I just give her the boob and pray she falls asleep. And if I think she is sleeping, I roll over to the other end of the bed so that I don't desturb her. She wakes every hour it seems.

Now is she just using this to get my attention or what? Should I just feed her and put her back in her bed? What have you all tried, and what works for you. Please lend me all your best sleeping advice.

I am half sleeping as I type this,:coffee but it is sooo hard to me angry at a little gal who smiles her big two teethy smile at you and squeals with joy. I love that gal, but mommy needs her sleep!

Melissa,
No real answers for ya but Phoenix did that just before he got his first tooth. Maybe Alicia is cutting 2 more teefers. He slept great for 4 nights straight, and last night he woke every hour :o I drank my 1 cup of coffee and still feel like a zombie. Oh yeah, it could be the 6th month growth spurt too. I just put Phoenix on my chest and go back to sleep. He roots around until he finds my boob. :p That is the only way to get a little sleep, even though it's broken. I feel so sorry for our working Mamas because my brain is so fried, I don't know how they do it.

Good luck hun,

Melissa, when Yossi was a baby, I took him to a wonderful pediatrician who told me that at 6 months you can allow them to cry it out. I can never do it, but you can. You put her in her crib, and let her cry for 5 minutes. Then you hug her. Then you let her cry for 10 minutes before hugging her. You build up to as long as it takes for her to learn to fall alseep. (We did it with Yossi, but he was so much older.)

I keep Shoshana in bed with me. We just keep flipping sides. I get no sleep either. I took two one hour naps this morning, and I still feel completely exhausted.

Hugs!

One Sweet World- There's a SONG w/ my user name??? No way! (Kazaa here I come...)
I was Blues4Sue2 a l-o-n-g time ago at aol (I wrote cd reviews for my local blues society), married someone with 'blue' in his last name, & if I am ever called Susey (which I'm not, I'm strictly a Susan irl) I prefer that spelling to the others (from a literary reference from a book, say, about 120 years old. Predates Ben Harper a bit ;) Sorry if tmi- I'm just tripping. All this time people have been thinking I'm a Ben Harper fan, when, I'm like, is he that guy that used to date Claire Danes? Wow!

'Tangled up in Blue', yes. 'Susey Blue' (in that context, lol), nope.

Suse :D

edit: Ahhh, it's 'Suzie Blue'. Weird, just the same. :wink Do I have an online stalker, hehe? Seriously, his choice of cover tunes looks interesting... I'll give him a listen 'Voodoo Chile' & 'No Woman, No Cry', sounds good! Plus my namesake song, it's dling now! I need some new music!

:( I am getting a little worried hearing about all this progress; Max is over 6 months now, & can't sit by himself (and propped, tends to fall over), doesn't roll over too well, certainly doesn't crawl yet, no teeth even tho' months of teething drool... he's got a big cd butt that might make him more awkward, and he's very bright & happy... it's awful that he's my third kid, & i can't remember what ages my other kids did all this stuff! now i know why i'm supposed to keep up w/ the baby book! is he the only baby here who is not doing this stuff yet? do I need to start worrying? I know Sam walked at 10 months, & my dd at a year and a half, so i know there's room for variation! (they are both fine walkers now.) help! reassure me, please!

Suse, you said it yourself ... all babies are different. I think that with putting them on their backs all the time they tend to develope slower than the sibs who went on the tummies more. I found that Shoshana has started do so much more now that I put her on her tummy more. When is your next doctors appointment? You should bring it up with the doctor. They know the wide range of normal. For all you know, this is perfectly normal, but because you are judging against such a small group of other babies, it appears your son is slower.

Try not worry too much. By the time they are two most of the kids are all doing the same things and you never know who was late to turn over and who was late to talk!

Suse,
I agree with Leah, all babies are different. My kids are prime example of how varied a babies prgress can be. Jamie, now 17 y, did everything early, crawling at 4 months and walking at 7 months. Elissa, now 12, was much later, crawling at 8 months, and walking at 10 months. Phoenix is in between the two. He started rolling, sitting and crawling all in a few weeks time. He was doing nothing, now all the sudden he's all over the place. As for the teeth, my others were over a year before they got their first tooth. Phoenix at 6 months already has 2. Weird huh? Also, Jamie has turned out to be an energetic, highly artistic young lady. Elissa is very shy, quiet and intellectual. One a thinker, the other a doer. :love

The medication she has to take to lessen the chance of coming down with the virus is making her ill, she still has to take it. The patient had not been taking his medication, so the level of virus was high in his blood. That increases her possibility of getting HIV. She is terrified as you can imagine. ~*~Welcome Mindy and Bailey!~*~ I love your DD's name Mindy.

~*~Welcome Tara, Makenna and Bailee!~*~ Miss Makenna was almost double what my son weighed at birth :LOL Laken was only 6 lb 12 oz and he is still a little peanut! He is almost 6 months and only weighs 15 lbs. :baby

Robin- I can't believe little Pooh :) is crawling and trying to pull himself up. Doesn't time just fly!!? Little monkey boy! :bounce
Can he teach Laken to sleep through the night please? I am exhausted!:crying Oh Robin, I just read your post about your SIL. (((HUGS))) How scary. I am thinking good, positive thoughts for Darlene!

Suse- How funny that you didn't know about that Ben Harper song. The "Blue" in my sons name is after my grandmother (was her maiden name) and my great-grandmother. I am named after both and wanted to get both of them in Laken's name. You should listen to Ben Harper, I think on his website you can listen to a few of his songs for free. He is so wonderful (in my opinion anyways LOL) :thumb Also, please try not to worry about Max and what he and is not doing. I know it's easier said than done. I see babies all day at Laken's day care, and was a teacher for a long time. All babies are different and there is such a vast array of differences in development! (((HUGS)))

Speaking of which, the day care (we call it "school") moved Laken up a class! He is getting to be such a big boy. He had his first cherrio yesterday and LOVED it. We broke it in half and he gummed it. Still no teefers for the little guy. He now says Dada and tries hard to say Mama. It is the cutest sound. :love

We are ready for the big wedding day on Monday! We are going this weekend to try and find a suit for Laken to wear :LOL. I will share pictures with you all next week.

I am glad to see this playgroup is growing :) It is so nice to be here!!

Many, many positive thoughts coming your way for your SIL, Darlene. I hope that things turn out ok.

Suse...I agree with the other gals...babies just develope at differnet stages. Don't worry...Max will one day surprise ya and do all that and more, within the blink of an eye. (((hugs))):hug I know it is sooo hard to wait for their firsts...I wish I could put my 3 year old in reverse some days....

Leah...So glad to see ya babe! You mentioned that Shoshana is doing more...please update us...Hope things are going well with you I know that some important dates are coming up...vent away here if ya need to (((hugs))):hug

Robin...OMGoodness....jumping??:bouncy Doth my eye read right? Your little man is jumping? WOW...that is so kewl that he is crawling that fast. Alicia still king of inch worms her way around the room.

Anyway...I made a web site! YAY! It was easier than I thought. Go and take a look at:eyes My Family! Thanks...and don't forget to sign the guest book too....it is on the contact me page.

Haa haa, I gotta stop taking so long to write a post....Carrie, I was writing when you were writing too.. :lol Anyway...I am sooo excited for ya. GOOD LUCK.:thumb on your big day....we wanna see LOTS of pictures.

WOW,.:eek Laken eating cherrios...*sigh* I sneak Alicia some bread sometimes..she loves it...and I have given her cherrios..and some rice crispys too. I also have given her a crushed up no salted pretzel...She just about bites my fingers off eating it all up. Thank goodness there does not seem to be any allergies or I would have to be careful with what I am giving her

Robin- I will keep you SIL in my thoughts, we are pretty attached to my SIL as well and we too would be devestated.

Onesweetworld- Yes she's almost doubled birthweights of most of my friends babies who were born around the same time too. ANd people think I am fibbbing when I tell her birthweight :rolleyes

Suse- Bailee was almost 9 months before she started crawling and she was walking at 11 months. So I too agree it is different with all babies.

Well I don't think I forgot anything......but I look forward to getting to know you all....

I am so excited to find you all!! :wave Hello to those who know me from the "other board". A little introduction for those who don't know me...

My name is Misti and I'm a 29 yo :blush SAHM. I live in N. Utah with my DH of 8 yrs and our 4 beautiful children... McKenzi will be 6 in March, Kaleb is 4 1/2, Kayson is 2 1/2 (born on his mommy's birthday!), and our miracle, Maegan Nicole, was born May 8, 2002 at 25w6d (edd 8/15/02) due to chronic placental abruptions and a complete abruption just before birth. She weighed 1 lb. 14 oz. and was 13 inches long. She's now a beautiful, healthy, almost 10 month old (6 1/2 months adjusted) and is the light of our lives. :throb

She is rolling both ways, hates tummy time, refuses to sit, but loves to stand, and just started solids a few weeks ago. She weighs 16 pounds and is about 25 1/2 inches long now. We're a bit concerned though because she hasn't gained any weight since Christmas. :( We have an appointment with the Pedi next week to have some blood work done. Hopefully there is nothing physically wrong. Until then, I am keeping a journal of everything she eats and trying to nurse her more often during the day.

I just added Maegan's 9 month pictures to her site, if you'd like to see them. They're at...

http://pages.ivillage.com/luvmystinkers/id19.html

The newest pics are at the bottom of the page. I've also added a few new pages - "NICU booklet" and "Then and Now" - in case you haven't seen those.

Anyway, I'm really glad to see you all... I missed you guys!! I'll check in as often as I can.

Hugs!! :hug

Anyway...I just thought that I would share my NEW web page that I made. I hope you go through it and then sign my guest book that is located on the contact me page.

Thanks for looking at My Family from A to Z (http://pages.ivillage.com/honeybunny96//index.html)

Do any of us want to start posting again for on the Aug 02 play group? I have been lurking a little, and I think that they need us back. I was thinking that since we left, "they" win. I see that they are still having problems with posts being removed. But again, if we come back, and ignore them, maybe they will leave? What do you all think?

Guess what I decided? I'm going to teach Connor sign language. Me and his sisters have been learning, so when he's ready all three of us can teach him! The girls on the boards were talking about it, so I checked into it and it sounds like a great idea! :D

So many cute babies!

Thanks for the welcome, & reassuring words of wisdom- you'd think with a 16 yr old (I've been doing this a long time!) & a 2 yr old (& I've had my memory refreshed very recently!) I'd know everything already, but not quite.:p

Max is trying desparately to sit up on his own- he's just not partial to 'propping'. Loves his Jolly Jumper, is finally interested in food (hehe, my skinny toddler was grabbing banana out of my hands at 4 months, but this lil' chub wasn't at all ready for it.
I've stopped worrying (and I had him at the Doc so recently for some indescribably scary croup, I don't wanna bring him again so soon... and ds #1 is about ready for his 2 yr well baby, so I can still ask. Nice thing about a 16 yr old, I don't have to bring two babies at once always- the doc can concentrate on the one being looked at, not the one ripping the blood pressure cuff off the wall.)

Hmmm, Robin...

I think that a firm NO! and to close up "shop" will help stop that. They then will get the realization that biting stops the food. I have to do that with Alicia. It HURTS when she bites me. I have been bitten more this past week than I have when she first got those teeth..I swear one of these day's she is gonna draw blood. One day, I thought that she did, it hurt so bad.

Some people say a little tap on the cheek or nose and stop feeding helps too. But I don't agree with that. I know that there are web sites out there..here is one that helps give all sorts of suggestions...http://breastfeed.com/resources/articles/biting.htm

I think my girls are pretty darn cute too! Bailee looks like me and Makenna looks like DH.

Also, I agree with Honeybunny- a firm "No" and un latching will help ....eventually. It worked for Bailee.... I always keep n mind if baby is biting then they aren't nursing...becasue to nurse the nipple goes past the teeth ( my LLL leader told us that)
Makenna is Pinching me so hard that I scream in pain and i scare her...I can't help it....any suggestiuons for that?? I think I need a nursing necklace!

Hi!! I am a momma to a 7 month old, too!! I have lots of "groups" for my older dd (Annika, 2.5), but few for little Mia (Aug. 2, induced, 2 1/2 wks early, 8.4, 21 1/2 inches). And I am also dying to know what the "other" board is!! I suspect one, but I'm not sure about it...

Mia has been working on solids--maybe a total of 2-4 oz a day in 1-2 meals a day. She mostly just likes breastmilk straight from the source. She's thinking about crawling, especially after big sis's toys!! She can move, but it's not really a crawl yet. i'm enjoying reading about your 6/7/8 mo olds!

Hi Jenni!

Max played ball in the yard with his brother today- Sam threw it at him in the stroller, it would roll off his toes, & he laughed & laughed; oh, to have big brother play with him! (I asked Sam if he loved Max- yeah, I know, I know- he said 'No!' When I asked why, he said, "Baby pukes too much!" Poor Max & his reflux!)
:(

Sam is 26 months tomorrow, & Max is about a week shy of 7 months now. He discovered today that he does not care for banana (but he is very partial to guacamole & refried beans- don't flame me, lol! Mexican food was Sam's early-on fav too! I couldn't help it- he LOVED it, and had no bad reactions at all :p )

We went to the pediatrician today for her 6 month appointment. She is doing so well! She is tiny, just 12lbs 7ounces and almost 25 inches. She fell down another growth curve, which is normal for breast fed babies, but she didn't actually have a curve to fall to, so she is no longer on the growth chart at all for any of her measurements. They said to expect her to be around 15-16lbs at 1 year! My goodness that is small, can you imagine a 15lb child walking? She's going to look so funny! They usually tell us at the end of the appointment what we could expect her to be doing at her next well child visit. They couldn't tell us anything cause she is already doing it all. Her arm stength is still behind the rest of her developmentally, but they assessed it to be at 9months, and everythign else is at 10months. So I have a baby who is doing 10month things and is the size of a 3month old... We no longer have to get assessments though, she has more than caught up to children her age! That is very exciting for me since they weren't expecting her to even catch up till she was 9months! This will mean we will only have to see one doctor at each well child visit, and they will be much much shorter!

Despite all of my worries her feet are not too small , and she is still growing like she should be, just really slow. I guess that is it.

mama2girls
03-11-2003, 02:44 PM
She is tiny, but YEAH :thumb for catching up in her skills!! I had Mia weighed and measured today. She's in a bfing study at our local university. She is 17.9 and 26 1/4 inches. That still means that she's smaller than her big sis was at this age. Not by much, less than a pound, but it's still interesting. She really wants to crawl, but can't quite get it figured out. But she really wants to stand. Do any of your kids want to stand up all the time?

Yes yes yes!!! Janelle can stand for about 30 seconds without holding onto anything, she can stand holding onto the couch for as long as she wants and can even let go with one hand to turn and talk to you, then switch hands to turn the other way and take a few steps while holding onto the couch. Standing is her absolute favorite thing to do!

She is "developmentaly delayed". Maggie can sit on her own and scoot on her bottom, but she does not crawl and refuses to put her legs down to stand. I am not too worried, as my oldest did the same thing and he is perfectly healthy/fine now. I know she will do it in her own time. No rush. :)
Well, I look forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome Nicke. My DS is developmentaly delayed as well, he is 13 years old now. This board has been pretty slow lately. I am hoping it will build up speed. Robin :hippie

Hi everyone,

I really hope people start posting on this thread again too. I always love to hear from moms with babies around my ds's age. He was born 8/25/02. He scoots on his belly and prefers standing over trying to crawl. He likes to pull things to him rather than crawl or scoot to them too. People think he will walk early. I don't know. Maybe. He's on his own time and that is perfectly fine by me.

My favorite thing that my ds is doing right now is word association. He is starting to show that he understands some of what we say. We can tell by his responses. We speak Swahili and English, so I say some words in Swahili and others in English, but he is definitely learning the meaning of "More" in Swahili. I use it repeatedly when I feed him things like avocado or puffed brown rice (he's mostly just breastfed though). Most of the time when I say "more?" he turns toward me and opens his mouth widely. Very cute.

Are any of you trying baby signs or ASL?

I am glad to have this thread to visit.
blessings,
sedia (nappyhair)

blessings,
sedia (nappyhair) We are doing the ASL with my 9 month old. So far he hasn't signed back. He says DADA but it's not really aimed at my DH. He understands kitty. If I say "Where's the kitty?" he looks around until he sees one of our 2 cats. Then he starts jumping and laughing. It's cool you are teachng him both Swahili and English.

Makenna says "gog" ( dog) Hi , mama and papa.....and I am teaching her the sign for milk when she wants to nurse. I am also trying to get her to blow kisses but she is more interested in her new talent:p

Also, Nappyhair, I thought Makenna wouldn't be an early walker...and she started walking a little less than 3 mos after she started crawling! (She was born on 7/9/02) SO I thought wrong...but like you said we'll see.:D

Take care everyone

Hi I'm fairly new here. My youngest dd, Lily, was born 9/13/02. She's 8 months now and just started to crawl, sit, pull up and feed herself all last week. She's certainly had a busy week.
Lily is a big sweetie and a very laid back baby. She's a good sized baby at 25 lbs and 30 in and a good eater, despite her food allergies. She also has 5 teeth and is just about to get #6. So there's a lot of drooling going on here :) Nice to meet you all!

He is cruising the furniture, standing alone for a few seconds and he just learned the sign for milk. He is starting to get that aggression that boys get. He growls like a monster and hits, bangs, and bams everything. My last baby was a girl, Phoenix is so different! Maybe he is part monkey. Welcome to the group!!!

Anyone remember me? I just found a link to this thread and noticed that it hadn't been active in quite some time. Ellery is 20 months old now and we're expecting another babe in a few weeks. Time sure flies. I would love to hear how everyone is doing, if you see this! :love
