View Full Version : Does anyone use German CDs?

DH and I would like to use CDs with #2, instead of disposables like we did with #1 (it's a trash reduction thing - especially since our garbagemen are currently on strike...).
While I had been hoping to order some from the US, I can't seem to find any US-made places that ship to Germany. A military affiliated friend can't really get them to me sent to her APO address, and my mother ALWAYS sends the wrong brand, or forgets, otherwise I'd ask her to bring some when she comes to visit in April.
Anyone use any European or German-made CDs? I've been searching the Web, but all of the AIOs (I suppose we've decided to go with this style) I've seen have disposable parts I'm supposed to use for the BMs. While maybe this would be okay for a 12 mo, I don't know how it would help with newborns.

Or does anyone know of a CD company who ships to Germany?

You can have them shipped to me in the US (we're leaving next week!). I'll ship them on to you before I return to Germany.

Here are some German sites for diapers:

http://www.naturwindeln.de/index.php

Otherwise, here are some links for French and Belgian sites. Maybe they ship to Germany, or you could have them shipped to your ILs.

Hi Hollycrand,

the brand of AIO CD's I've seen most often in 'the South' were Lotties. They seemed great to me though pricey.
I saw a lot of these and others at ebay. Especially the newborn packages that are unused or barely used. Advantage there is that they are usually prewashed a few times which increases absorbancy and saves you the trouble.
I really like the Naturwindeln site PL suggested.
I never bothered removing newborn BM from the diapers before washing but later added those paper inserts from DM sometimes.
I used Fidelia and Popolinos in Germany, if you have any questions about those, different types of covers.

Have fun!!!

Thank you, Behr.

I'm already packed! I'm very proud of myself for being so organized and having the suitcases ready over a week early.
Now if I could just get the house cleaned...

Holly I hope you find what you need. e-mail me if you want to have things sent to my US address.

My friend is a military wife in Germany. She just had "motherease" cloth diapers shipped to her PO box address.

Better than buying US diapers and ship them to Germany, just buy German diapers. IMO, the AP German stuff (slings, cloth diapers, etc) are far superior in quality anyways.

Motherease CDs are the Canadian version(er, just renamed) to the German brand, Popolino - exact same diaper. You can use disposable inserts with Popolino, but i never did. They have extra washable inserts.

Babywalz sells popolino, as well as some other brands, ranging from straight cloth, to prefolds, to AIOs.

You also might want to buy 'used' - but not really used - i mean people who buy a stash thinking they will CD but didn't end up doing it. I know of few people who did that - with the best of intentions but then ended up doing alot of travelling, etc (like us).

If you can't luck out like that, go to the German ebay (www.ebay.de) - tonnes of stashes!

I also just got my package from this site to make my own - I am thinking maybe if all goes well, I can start selling them or something.

This website: thegoodmama.com (http://www.thegoodmama.com) ships to Germany (though currently her site says she gives free shipping, but to Germany she can't, so you have to e-mail her about the actual shipping price you'll pay.)

Her stock is based on what is IN stock, but she seems to have cloth diapers on the site (and really neat looking wipes).

I've bought 'Moby Wrap's and 'Baby Legs' from her, and am just waiting for her to finish quoting me the shipping cost so I can pay that too and see how it goes, if I'd want to buy from her again in the future or not.
