Hello Mamas!!
I'm so excited to stop lurking and start posting. Yesterday I returned home from a long visit to family out of state. It was such a relief to get home to my darling husband and tell him about my suspicions of pregnancy. It had been driving me crazy keeping it a secret from him for the last 2 weeks. However, telling him over the phone was simply unacceptable to me, so I waited and grew more and more certain as the symptoms added up one by one.
This morning I told my husband I had a special surprise for him, and asked him if he wanted it right away... which of course he did, he never can wait to get a gift! I had him close his eyes while I ran across the room to retrieve the box of pregnancy tests. I handed it to my daughter and she delivered it into his waiting hands. The shock on his face was priceless! He was barely even awake and definitely wasn't expecting that! He sent me off to the bathroom to test and waited snuggled up in bed with our daughter. I rushed back with a positive test in hand to share the news.
The rest of the day has been a great big blur of emotions and excitement. It stills seems unreal somehow, but that doesn't really surprise me.. It took forever for it to REALLY sink in last time too. We've started telling some family members, but are nervous to tell the IL's as they had recently expressed concern about us waiting longer to get pregnant. I agree with them in theory.. it would be nice to be a little more stable financially, but hey life happens! And I for one, am thrilled!!
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you, I've been lurking a bit during the last few weeks and am so happy to see a few familiar mamas here! During my last pregnancyin 2004, my due date club here at MDC was so amazing. Having the support and encouragement of other mothers was crucial to my mental health. It's just so exciting to be doing this again!!!
