I had a terrible nights sleep last night, but the dreaming I did do all had to do with me going in to labor... anyone else had that dream? It was vivd, but abstract at the same time.. haha...
Does it *mean* anything?

Sometimes I think dreams can be a way of working out our fears and worries, but you have to look at it symbolically rather than literally. I had a dream where I woke up in the hospital after giving birth, and had to ask for my baby. Did I have a boy or girl? Was the birth natural? Did something go wrong? Dh was answering all my questions, and couldn't seem to understand why I was so mad. I felt cheated that I couldn't remember anything about the birth! :lol
So, for me, I think there was a clearcut meaning to the dream. My only real worry with this pg is that the birth will be really fast and overwhelming, and I won't have time to gather my focus and get my support people around me. So, I guess I'm worried about "missing" the birth experience, and that's what the dream was working through.
But, the only person who can interpret what a dream might mean is the dreamer. I don't really buy into those books that say a certain object always represents this or that... and sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar. :thumb

heh- I think I have it figured out then. My dh was out of town today- 2 hours away and in closed doors type work things... And we kept joking over the past few weeks that it would figure that I would go into labor the day he was gone.. I think I ended up scaring myself by this thought haha. :)

That makes sense!
Okay, anyone else have a dream they want to psychoanalyze? :lol

I had a dream last night that an ex boyfriend pierced my butt cheek with a small hoop earring and put Gwennyth Paltrows blush on it with a soft powder brush. I remember it was a pretty shade of pink and I wanted to buy some for my face.
Seriously... what a strange dream! :lol I just woke up feeling disgusted that somehow an ex boyfriend who I really dislike and find completely unattractive popped up in a dream about my butt. :scratch
I haven't had any baby related dreams lately, I had a few decaying boob dreams about a month or two ago when I was feeling nervous about breastfeeding. Otherwise lately I have just had vivid story-type dreams not relating to birth directly, but I am always pregnant in them, so it's obviously still in the forefront of my mind!

I just have to say: That is a really funny dream. I've had some humdingers myself, but yours is the winner! :spitdrink

Well, with my first daughter, I had two dreams that I arrived somewhere and they told me my baby had been delivered and right inside. I thought, "fantastic, what an easy labor!!" --I was terrified of labor with her and believe my dreams were true fantasies.
This time, I've had dreams of giving labor, watching my baby crown, and catching her in my own hands--which how I hope my labor turns out. I was terrified of crowning with my first baby but am much calmer about it this time so who knows. Either way, I just can't wait to meet my little girl! :throb

Ell-Bell, that is hysterical, although I don't think I'd want to analyze that with a ten-foot pole! (to mix metaphors) :lol
You know, it's weird, but my dreams always seem to be a few months or even years behind my life. Like, I'll be half-way through a dream and remember, "Oh, yeah, I'm pregnant!" and suddenly I'm pregnant in the dream, when I wasn't before. The same thing happened after ds was born. I'd be halfway through a dream and go, "where's my baby??" Of course, I still have dreams where I'll be falling in love with some guy and then I stop and remember, "But, wait, what about Tom?? I'm married, remember?!" :lol

I had a very vivid birth dream last week....I dreamnt that I went into labor without even realizing it - I was lying on my side on the floor at our old house by the fireplace in very low light when I realized that the baby's head was out! She came out with no problems - a big thing for me since my babies always get caught by the shoulders at the top of my pelvis. I remember being upset because I didn't have any clothes or cloth diapers for her (hadn't been washed yet because she was early) so we had to look around and find a sample of a disposable diaper! At some point my midwife showed up, but was going out with her husband somewhere and didn't think the fact that the palcenta wasn't coming out was a big deal! It turned out that the reason that the placenta wasn't coming was because there was actually another baby in there! The other baby was moving around a lot too - I'm guessing to get into position. That's where the dream ended. It was so strange! I think it stemmed from me going through clothes and washing some towels I bought for the birth and the receiving blankets to wipe her with after she's born. The next day I went through the diapers and washed them so I can have them ready. I'll have to wash a few gowns and sleepers too so I have something on hand just in case! I'm not sure where the twin thing came from - I know there's only one baby in there! I remember having an unassited dream with my previous pregnancy too. I think part of my dreams are fantasy as a pp said. Unless I have a small baby, I won't be able to birth her without assistance due to shoulder dytocia. I would LOVE to feel my baby just slide out of me!
