Ok, so I've been a little less than obsessive :lol in taking the good old HPT's. I don't even expect my period until Friday or Saturday, but something in me told me I was pregnant (and I wanted to surprise DH with a Valentine's gift) so I went ahead and tested anyway on Monday. So, on Monday, I took 2 First Responses (the early results ones, there aren't any others, right?) and got two quite faint lines, but visible anyway. And then I went ahead and bought a box of digital tests. And, went to the Dollar Store to pick up a few of theirs (while I'm going bonkers testing, I may as well go whole hog, no?!?!!?) Monday night, a line only squintily visible on the Dollar Tree test, and even I am thinking I'm just making things up for myself. Tuesday morning, the digital quickly read "pregnant" and so I take this to mean I am in fact pregnant. Again, this morning, another digital "pregnant." I went to my Internist this morning for a follow-up appt, and they ran a urine test because I mentioned that I'd had some positive pregnancy tests at home. (On the way to my Dr's, I must've had like 40 ounces of water to drink...don't even ask me why!!!) but my urine was super duper clear like water and their office test didn't come up with a positive result for pregnancy. And, another Dollar Store test is yielding another less than visible line. Now, I know that HPT's rarely yield false postives and a "line is a line is a line," but I'm going a little crazy that my Dr's office test came up with nothing. In retrospect, I should've asked him to run a beta while I was there anyway, but I totally wasn't thinking.
I thought the Dollar Tree tests were supposed to be highly sensitive, so I am kind of surprised that I got a digital result and am not getting much from these tests.
Any advice for the stressing and hopeful preggy momma?

I think all the water you drank messed up the doctor's test. Though I thought their tests would be the most accurate ... :shrug but what do I know. :lol
Relax and wait a few more days before testing again. Stop giving those companies your money, too. :lol

The docs pee test relies on HCG, usually 20 but it may be as high as 50. Since you are testing early FMU is recommended, the strong concentrated stuff in the middle of the night, that is why you get such good and positive tests in the morning. And the super diluted pee didn't yield anything. There aren't false +'s so your "pregnant" tests mean you are pregnant so congrats!

I'm with the others here. I think drinking all the water messed you up and there are no false positives. I think especially if the expensive digi came up ++ you definitely are!! :thumb

Yeah, what they all said.
I also had weird conflicting results early on this time. The really weird thing for me is that my fmu gave me lighter +'s than my second morning urine. I had heard that is sometimes true but it made no sense to me so I totally discounted it, but it really proved true for me this time.
I have also heard that doctor's offices do not use very sensitive tests.
Congratulations!

Agree with Chrissy, on the day I found out my FMU was neg. and then the second morning urine was very faint pos. Then, you know I had to take another one! That one was neg. and this was 2 days before I missed my period with tests that measured 15-20 units! So, if you ever got a light line, that means hcg was detected and you are pg, so congratulations!

Thanks mommas...I'm super crazy because I've suffered two miscarriages prior to this surprise pregnancy and I'm worrying myself to death over it. I know I've gotten all those +++ but I was worried when my DR saw nothing. I plan to take another test (or two or three :lol ) later on this weekend. I am just expecting AF today and there's no sign...and I truly believe I'm pregnant, I'm just anxious because of my losses.
Thanks again!

No need to take the extra tests! You ALREADY know!!! PPers have said and I will reiterate: You cannot get a false positive. A negative can be wrong, but not a positive! Don't spend your money on the store tests... just get the doc to confirm (if you need this for insurance purposes). If not, then treat yourself gently and let it happen. :)
oh... and the dollar store preggie tests... they are not usually MORE sensitive in my understanding. The reasoning for using them is more along the lines of: if a test that only cost a dollar tells you you're preggie then you MUST be because you can't get a false pos, only an incorrect neg (as you well know!). So, tell DH and enjoy the time before morning sickness (if you're so "lucky" to end up with it :p). :)

Thanks, thanks, thanks! I will refrain (however hard it is, hahahaha!) from wasting any more of my money on pregnancy tests. Geez, if you see a crazed lady in the Target today in the HPT aisle...you have permission to kick me!!!! :lol I've seen enough +++ and I knew from the first digital that it couldn't be false...but having an inconclusive urine test at my DR's threw me for a little loop. I'm going to call my OB tomorrow anyway, so I'll let them do a test for confirmationm, and mind easing. :)
These first few weeks are totally for the obsessing, aren't they?!?!
