We're first time parents and I'm so excited to tell my family, about a month from now. We're flying home for my dad and stepmom's anniversary and will be able to see my mom & stepdad and all of my siblings at that point too.
What are some unique ways of telling your family? I know they will all be so happy and supportive, and I want to make this fun! Any thoughts? TIA!

You could get them an anniversary card that says something along the lines of (written inside, of course): "We talked and talked about it, but couldn't find a good gift to buy you for your anniversary. So instead, we've decided to give you a grandchild. We're expecting a little one. Happy Anniversary!"
And just watch the tears flow :)

Telling people in person is best, IMO, but my parents are in Florida so I told them over the phone the first time. This time, they're coming to visit us at the end of March and I will tell them then. I'll be at about the same point I was when we told them last time - ds was a surprise and I didn't take the hpt until I missed my second AF.
I'm looking forward to seeing ideas posted on this thread because I'd like to do something fun.

I caved and told them right away. With my M/C, I kept the pregnancy a secret for 7 weeks. I had just sent christmas cards announcing the news when I lost the pregnancy. I ended up calling my mother in tears and telling her the news all at once. This time I told her right away - I want her prayers and support through the scary time. I also figure that I'll tell her anyway if the worst happens, since I need her help and love. I'm not announcing it to perfect strangers (well, I did tell a lady at the baby store!), but I'm more relax about sharing things.
I sent my loved ones an email with an attachment. I had made a pretty graphic-art valentine on photoshop with a rhyming valentine poem that announced we were expecing. THey loved it! Of course, the danger of announcing by email is that my mom could't resist forwarding it to her whole address book! Good luck!

Here's an idea - you could give them a pretty silver frame with a message in the middle saying "for your future grandbaby" or something like that.

The first time we just ended up telling the over the phone. This time we told them on Valentines day. I took a picture of Kai dressed in red and had a heart sign stuck in the ground that said IM going to be a big brother. WHen i gave them the pic they didnt even notice it right away what it said :lol
for family members that are out of town I had Kai say on video
"Happy valentines day, im going to be a big brother, i love you, bye bye. that was a hit with family members too.
As for DH Kai and I hinted by buying a baby hermit crab to go with our HUGE hermit however he didnt get it so then I whipsered to kai to go get the book i bought him and he came out of his room and said "daddy read me this baby book" it was reallllly cute.

To announce our first pregnancy, we went to one of the baby stores and bought coffee mugs for the Grandparents to be. They opened them together and *knew* as soon as they read the mug that they would have a grandbaby from us soon! It was really fun! :)
I hope you've had some neat suggestions and come up with some fun and cool way to share the news. I'm around 8 weeks preggie with #2 and we just told the fam bit by bit this time. WE were totally excited, but this baby has two older cousins, plus his/her own sister, so we didn't think we wanted to make such a big deal in the family about it... mostly because it might burst OUR bubble because WE'RE exstatic and over the moon happy!!! :love

we told everyone about dd at christmas...i bought some tshirt paint and painted I Love My Grandparents on a onesie and presented it as a gift!
this time I'm not sure what we'll do! I don't want to steal my brother's thunder since he's getting married in a few weeks and my sister's bday is at the end of the week, so I'll have to figure it out somewhere inbetween!
my husband is wanting to tell people sooo bad, i'm a little nervous and want to wait a little longer this time! :)

I just told my mom and grandma over the phone this time since they're across the country...Last time I was actually in AZ when I found out I was pregnant. I told dh over the phone! :lol I told my Mom I saw something that reminded me of her and gave her a little box with a pair of booties in it. She still has them in her house on a shelf! (She cried like for ten minutes after I gave it to her - tears of joy...:thumb ) Good luck telling your family and congrats!!!:love

We're across the country from our families, so we'll tell them in a couple weeks after we find out where we're moving, which is hopefully closer to home! :)
My folks (especially my Dad) got obsessed with Father of the Bride while planning my wedding, so I want to send them a copy of Father of the Bride II, and a copy of Kitzinger's book Becoming a Grandmother since this will be their first grandchild. :) I just don't know if I want to break the news that way.

My family was having a get-together so me and my husband took out our new digital camera that also takes videos and we did a spoof on the MasterCard commercial.
I would just place pictures of various big family events - like marrying my hubby and my sister getting married and our family vacation - and just say how much each one cost....When we got to end we just panned the camera to me holding a hpt and saying, "look on my families face when I tell them I'm preggers, priceless!"
It was really fun!:lol

I have a cute maternity shirt that says "Future Rock Star" with an arrow to my belly. That would have been a funny way to let everyone know! I didn't do anything creative this time around. I love the Mastercard commercial idea.
